The forward line has changed so much it's like we've done that thing in scrabble where you skip a turn and swap all the pieces.

Makes Lewis worth about $8m a season!Lewis to kick 10 on McKay
Pretty impressive that we will have turned over our weakest area in the space of one trade/draft period. The forward line has changed so much it's like we've done that thing in scrabble where you skip a turn and swap all the pieces.
Well we did it with the midfield the previous year!Pretty impressive that we will have turned over our weakest area in the space of one trade/draft period.

Hope we get to see all of Watson, Mackenzie, Ward, MacDonald, Ginnivan and Weddle play together.
Would love Butler to be added into the mix too. But the inclusions of Ginnivan and Watson would make that hard.
Player ratings are by no means perfect, but they had BZT as a better player last season than McKay. Too early to call that an upgrade just because they paid big money for him.Comments like this were rife this time last season, then roll on to gameday and they totally embarrassed us.
They've upgraded their KPD stocks, and didn't have either Stringer or 2MP playing last time. They'll have McKay, Gresham and Duursma added to their side too, plus old man Goldy.
They effectively replace BZT, Davey, Tippa, Phillips, Menzie and Weideman. That's a big upgrade there.
We've added Lewis, Chol, Ginnivan, Gunston and presumably Watson to that R1 side that got flogged. They will replace the likes of Kosi, Wingard, Greene, Meek, Bramble and Frost.
It's fair to say both sides have improved on paper. Though I think most of our improvement will come from natural development and hopefully some tightening up of our gameplan.
Gresham - 2MP - Stringer
Hardwick - Blanck - Weddle
Perkins - Jones - Langford
CJ - Sicily - Scrimshaw
Draper - Parish - Zerrett
Reeves - Newcombe - Day
Martin - Shiel - Duursma
Amon - Nash - Ward
Redman - McKay - Ridley
Moore - Chol - MacDonald
McGrath - Laverde - Kelly
Ginnivan - Lewis - Breust
INT from - Hobbs, Hind, Caldwell, Setterfield, Heppell, Goldy, Durham, Weideman, Tsatas, Cox
INT from - Worpel, Impey, Mackenzie, Mitchell, Pick 4, Maginess, DGB, Gunston, Butler
Looks like a close matchup on paper. I'm really looking forward to seeing how Lewis, Chol, Ginnivan and hopefully Watson play together in particular.
Can't see how scrimshaw doesn't play? No reason actually. Absolute starting 18 .BACKLINE
Hardwick - Blanck - Sicily
Mitchell - Weddle - Amon
MIDFIELD
Jiath - Day - Ward
Reeves - Newcombe - MacKenzie
FORWARDLINE
Moore - Chol - Watson
Breust - Lewis - Ginnivan
INTERCHANGE
MacDonald - Nash - Worpel - Impey - Gunston (sub)
EMERGENCIES
Finn Maginness - Sam Butler - Jack Scrimshaw - Will McCabe - Henry Hustwaite - Bailey MacDonald
Think this will be the side, the questions are..
Jiath, where does he play (wing / hb) does he do enough and explode during the off season ready for Round 1?
Will McCabe (no pun intended) be ready to go round 1 or does he wait?
Sam Butler has shown signs of being a massive asset this off season with his work done so far with his body proposition does he get in?
Watson ready to go Round 1?
Do we need Maginness to tag Merrett round 1? How does his game develop.
Mackenzie? Is he ready to go round 1 with a huge off season honing in and cashing in on his class?
How does and where does Jack Scrimshaw fit into the line up?
Jack Gunston, to play or sub?
Henry Hustwaite, a wait? Or a go.
Depends on the dons lineup of course. But you suspect assuming all available that the back 6, all of those except seamus are locks. I believe impey starts and then CJ is bench or sub. I think we need to ease him back into it not against him starting with box hill for conditioning either. I think seamus is touch and go same with scrimshaw.BACKLINE

And find a quality KPD. Has to be our priority and outside Smith, I understand, remains the Clubs priority. We need a big KPD.Still very concerned about the back 6....Weddle, Scrim and Sis being named as key backs, none of whom are, and Blanck, who's played 20-odd games. Looking alarmingly undersized and understrengthed. Badly need to fast-track McCabe's development.
Our forward line is better IMO. Laverde playing tall to allow Ridley to intercept which is what they want to do. He won't be doing that with Gunner down there. Weddle is the ideal matchup for Stringer or if we want to go down that path Frost. They don't have us beat anywhere IMO not even the ruck with a 36 year old Goldy. We should be confident we are winning this game if we play the way Sam wants us to.Comments like this were rife this time last season, then roll on to gameday and they totally embarrassed us.

Won't be a factor round 1. Bombers have 1 genuine monster in 2MP and 2 hybrid forwards in Langford and Stringer. If they play Jones Weddle will go to him and we play Frost to take Stringer. I doubt they will as Langford provides that marking target as it is with his height. We dismiss Frost being in the side but he will be used on a needs basis for specific players. He is good to have as a backup option and once we start showing some consistency week to week his flaws won't be so exposed.Still very concerned about the back 6....Weddle, Scrim and Sis being named as key backs, none of whom are, and Blanck, who's played 20-odd games.
