I reckon, with Waite new to the team, they don't want to upset things too much by having Waite and Wood in. Black probably would have missed anyway, which makes BB the logical choice, particularly given he can provide 2 minutes worth of ruck relief.

I think Wright would be more likely for a similar reason over Tarrant. Brad flagged chemistry/synergy (or 'symbiosis' TM Teffy) is as, or more, important than height down back.

Turner/Basti/Jacobs in a battle for one interchange spot and the sub role. Nahas a small chance of the sub vest.

Wood will be shattered he didn't make the 25, pretty poor decision from the coaching staff imo. For a guy that has set himself all preseason to make the 22, to miss it by as many as 4 places can be pretty deflating for a young developing player.

I don't mind him not being selected, he should of been in the 25 though imo.

If he doesnt get a game Vs Brisbane then I will be worried. Hopefully Brad and co. are easing him into senior footy.

Oh, so he was the only young developing player setting himself to make the 22 for round 1? What an oversight!

He would be. Looking back this was probably flagged by Brad Scott giving him a massive wrap a week or two back.

As much as I want to see him in the team I can see the logic in not naming a 2 gamer. Round 1 games can be both fired up and scrappy. If a guy like Nahas gets a game he at least has a substantial amount more experience. Same for even some of the guys with less games (ie. Brown) who have shown a clear level head. I don't know if I'd be worried by the Brisbane game as alluded to above but I'd expect to see him be well over double his current games by the half way point at the least.

BTW realistically Waite has taken Black's spot for now and Wood is close to forcing his way in. Hard to argue with that.

Who is the oldest player to debut for the club out of interest?

At his best, we've a cupboard full of quality players at their best, just sayin.

Yeah I agree we do also. If all our best deliver I think we will win yes.

I just don't think we have (in recent times) brought anywhere near our best (of our best) to the one State where you can't drink water.

Betts is a good player NN. He deserves respect.
