Why is Mitchell being dropped in round 2? Why is John Noble who breaks line with speed and shows more heart than most not in the team?

He was rested. Ankle soreness and probably should've sat out Opening Round. Don't listen to David King.

As bad as last week really.

Onky positive is managing to bring the margin back to 5 goals again instead of it of going the other way - a couple of 5 goal losses to start with is still recoverable, a couple of 10+ goal losses to start with is generally not.

Hopefully this is as bad as it gets this season and we start pulling our fingers out from here.

The late start argument needs to be shelved though, both GWS and Sydney played finals and both of them started pre-season around the same time we did.

We just have a majority of the team well out of form and already down on confidence at the moment. The only remedy for that malaise is effort, which has also been sorely lacking there first two games.

Next week has to be a statement game for us, need to come out and smash the Stains to get some confidence back.

I think the players watched "Saltburn" too many times and drank there own bath water!
Most definitely. Bath water has been consumed.

Need to spit it out quick smart.

That was so tough to watch. The missed targets, missed tackles, awful turnovers... the only way is up from here. Swans were good but not that good.

Maybe this is a blessing in disguise; the coaching team and players are on notice in a sense that this is a new year and we need to shake the confetti off, and figure out the plans and players to get us wins this year.

More Fin, to start with.
Fin at first didn't impress till I realised he was doing better than a bunch of our big names. De Goey in particular. Cameron and Cox did OK against Grundy and our mids should have been able to give us more drive. Sidebottom looked cooked.

If we are to go the season without both Murphy and McStay then we are going to lose quite a few games. Their replacements are not AFL standard.

im a little confused with the comments on here tbh.

We all knew a cliff was coming. We snagged the flag we deserved, thankfully after being close since 2018.

Whilst I didn’t expect us to fall this hard so early, nor do I expect it to be this bad all season (lot of it is hangover), I certainly didn’t expect us to go back to back.

We’ve all known we are an ageing list that’s not the most talented.

We got our flag. I’m content.

The last two weeks have been poor no doubt, I expect us to finish top 8 still.

But we’ve all seen this coming. Just not as quick.

Flags ain’t easy. We got one.

We have holes, ageing stars. Welcome to footy.

It’s highs and lows.

I was worried ahead of the game that Grundy would have a huge performance against his old side, as he did last week against Gawn. Turns out that was the least of our worries. I thought Coxy and Darcy were amongst our better players.
One thing amongst several that drew my attention was the lack of chase and effort from our forwards whenever Sydney cleared the ball (easily) out of defence.

We lack urgency and aggression.

Seem content to wait for the ball to come to us rather than going in hard to get it.

A bit too happy with ourselves and still daydreaming about 2023.

Nick, Maynard, Howe, Cameron and Beau about the only ones to get a pass mark tonight.

I don’t understand logic of omitting Mitchell but making Macrae sub. He’s a grinder who needs to build impact over an extended period. He’s not a burst player.

And for two weeks in a row it has been wrong call to play Dean over Frampton, Johnson over McInnes and Markov over Noble.

Our coaches and selectors are in as much of a slump as our players.

Yeah I agree with those selections except Markov, he is head and shoulders ahead of Noble, no question.

Dean over Frampton, Johnson over McInnes is what is making me doubt this coaching group for the first time ever, 2 games into a new season when we're fresh of a flag I know, but this game is cut throat.
