The profile of the team has changed
This is obvious in first two weeks.
It was telling that one of the reports from a match sim in pre season was the team trying to hit up targets across half forward rather than take territory …and it’s shown in how we are moving the ball with useless touches in tight that release no runners and take ground.
We also defend too deep and become “aggressive” when the ball is already almost at our half forward defensive end rather than squeeze up on the opposition and keep them higher up in our attack.

I also question the new roles of Leppitsch and co who was hailed as the best defensive coach in the game and is now not even involved effectively across any line.

Selection has also been a fail for McRae.
You reward the strong pre seasons early days.
You don’t stop Mitchell and then place Macrae as a sub.
A guy like Sullivan should be playing ..he looks hungry in all his pre season outings, has fresh legs and will want to make an impact.

Everyone looks at blaming AJ and banishing him but a guy like Mihocek who is supposed to be a leader and our #1…alarm bells should be going off.

We will find out what this team has and what McRae has in the next few games which will ultimately decide the fate of our season if we go 0-3 or 0-5.

Yeah I agree with those selections except Markov, he is head and shoulders ahead of Noble, no question.

Dean over Frampton, Johnson over McInnes is what is making me doubt this coaching group for the first time ever, 2 games into a new season when we're fresh of a flag I know, but this game is cut throat.
Disagree. Noble should be in ahead of Markov.

I can't write us off this early, we'll come good but I'm not sure how good the good will be. Still think if we can get some talls back for the second half of the season we will do some damage
Just gotta make finals
But we’ll need some early wins

Hard to know what to make of this start. Everyone looks at least 10% down. Some look 40% down. It's like we're battling all over. Then again, GWS and Sydney will both by top 3-7 I'd say, so they're not easy beats.

A few obvious errors from he coaches:

1. Not playing Fin Macrae earlier. He should start, I reckon. Thought so two weeks ago. Even more certain now.
2. Sticking with Johnson. I've had high hopes, but he's one dimensional I'm afraid. He's probably too old to be much more than what he is, which is a pity. I'll keep my mind open, but he needs to maybe play another role for a bit in the VFL.
3. Not playing Reef McInnies over Johnson this week. Reef is ready, about the same size, way younger.
4. Not playing John Noble. He's not the most talented, but speed and competitiveness.
5. Not playing Billy Frampton back. We know he can do it. We know he has more experience than Dean -- who was fine and looks like the future.

So, okay, that's a few in. Mitchell is sore or whatever. Not sure Sidebottom should still be playing wing. WHE was okay, but time waits for no man, there were some very quiet players who had little impact. I understand that as a coach you have faith in them, but a bit of turnover is now, clearly. needed.

First two games of the season have been so hard to watch. We look as slow, clumsy and disorganised as we've ever been under Fly.

Two weeks in a row we've constantly allowed sub-par to mediocre forwards kill us by taking contested mark after contested mark nside 50 with us barely getting a finger to it, and we've turned the ball over in dangerous areas of the ground under minimal pressure.

It's uncharacteristic and ipainful to watch right now, and I hope we can turn it around before we're too far back in the pack.

Looking at tonight's stats, I really couldn't pick anyone other than Daicos who performed to their normal standard or above.

Let's ****ing lift boys

We kicked a few late goals to paper over the cracks, just like we did last week. But don’t be fooled by the final score. We were abysmal tonight, even worse than last week.

It’s pretty clear that the players are suffering from a premiership hangover,The effort just isn’t there. The players will play with some intensity for a few minutes, then it will drop off very quickly, and we’ll let the opposition kick the easiest run of goals you will ever see.The other teams are simply hungrier than we are at the moment.

We also have major structural problems. There’s no structure on the forward line, and the backline is a complete shambles at the moment.

I really don’t know what the answer is,but it’ll be interesting to hear what Fly has to say about it all in his post match presser.

I agree with: “defending” too aggressively.
Taking territory is still the go to instruction heard at training.

im a little confused with the comments on here tbh.

We all knew a cliff was coming. We snagged the flag we deserved, thankfully after being close since 2018.

Whilst I didn’t expect us to fall this hard so early, nor do I expect it to be this bad all season (lot of it is hangover), I certainly didn’t expect us to go back to back.

We’ve all known we are an ageing list that’s not the most talented.

We got our flag. I’m content.

The last two weeks have been poor no doubt, I expect us to finish top 8 still.

But we’ve all seen this coming. Just not as quick.

Flags ain’t easy. We got one.

We have holes, ageing stars. Welcome to footy.

It’s highs and lows.
So take our bat and ball and go home, and pray one the blose or bombouts don't win it. Ok.

Remember this team won a flag on the back of belief, if you think we're just gonna go 'we won the flag who cares' then you're wrong.

Go and read the comments on here then maybe you will understand my post. Unlike half the comments I’m not bashing a team that bled to win a flag. I’m embarrassed tbh.

How quick posters turn is laughable

That was fairly concerning, it rubber stamped last weeks poor performace as well. It shouldn't be swept under the carpet, we need to wake up asap. I was prepared to write off last week expecting this effort to be much better and it wasn't. Just not enough intensity, too careful with ball in hand, sloppy disposal and no key marking forward targets and this is the result. A few more weeks of this and the season could very well be over with some very tough games coming up. This does have a premiership hangover feel to it unfortunately.

I legit forgot all about Taylor Adams until I saw his shit-eating grin at the boundary after the game! We could use some of his intensity. Ball use, no, intensity yes.
