After today I think -

The locks:
Brown, Talia, Kelly,
Laird, Doedee, ???
RAt, Mrouch, Seed
Dougals, ???, Lynch,
Betts, Guv, ???
Sauce, Sloane, Gibbs ???

Given past history, Looking likely even though they were shit:
JJ, Hartigan

Gotta be a chance:
CEY, Murphy, Fogarty

That's 20 - 6 backs, 8 Mids+Ruc, 6 Fwds

Wait on tomorrow:
Milera, Gallucci, Polholke

Injury permitting:
Tex, Brouch.

Leaving from today:
Mackay, Hampton, Gibson, Keath

Wait on tomorrow ?? The SANFL side played and won today.

For me Murphy plays, and Fogarty does Too regardless of whether Tex is fit. Jenkins was a non-event again and Gov looked like a B grade country footballer.

Our midfield is settled, slightly concerned about our defence and their ability to deal with smaller setups.

Is there a SANFL trial game tomorrow?

We a more mobile forward line that can chase and tackle. We are going to miss Cameron bigtime.

Milera and Hampton are 2 good options to slot alongside Eddie.
We will only miss Charlie once every 6 weeks when he turned up. I reckon Signorello or Gallucci need to play.

Pace and fierce attack

He certainly was lucky to retain his spot at times, Lever and smith don’t look like they can be replaced with anything close

Any chance with Smiths body type (not being a big bloke) that he could possibly return to SANFL by mid season and be back playing by round 15/16?

My thinking is...

B: Brown, Talia, Doedee
HB: Douglas, Hartigan, Laird
C: Seedsman, Mrouch, Atkins
HF: Lynch, McGovern, Hampton
F: Betts, Jenkins, Fogerty
R: Jacobs, Sloane, Gibbs
I: Kelly, Ellis-Yolmen, Mackay, Murphy

Assuming, Walker & Brouch don't come up. Milera, Gallucci underdone.

Hartigan - would not be against playing Keath instead given his game today, but unfortunately he got injured.

Ellis-Yolmen - looks more ready than Greenwood who is underdone, but when fit is in our best 22.

Mackay - would prefer Milera, but gather underdone.

Brown Talia Doedee
Gibbs Hartigan Laird
Seeds Matt Atkins
Lynch Fog Murphy
Greenwood Gov Betts

Jacobs Sloane Douglas

I/C Kelly, CEY, Mackay, Gibson

I’ve got to say, this side does not excite me at all. There’s a lack of speed, run and defensive pressure.

We have 4 stoppers in defence and if Kelly replaces Doedee, then we still have 4 stoppers in defence. Mind you I think Doedee is a lock for rd 1. Because of this I have Gibbs in defence, I just don’t think we have anyone else who is going to provide us the class and creativity from defence. Mackay forget it, Gibson only if we want turnovers and nothing disposals.

With CEY playing that inside mid role well that frees up Gibbs to play elsewhere.

Possibles to be named are Jenkins, Keath and Hampton with Jenkins being most likely but really? He has been shit and we are way to slow up forward and lacking in forward line pressure. After today Fog has to play, he was our best forward.

Mackay and Gibson get games by default as we don’t have anyone else unless Milera is some how fit but he is lacking games.

Hampton has been disappointing. Keath could replace Hartigan if Hartigan produces another game like that.

We badly need Tex, Brad, Milera and Knight to get fit. The thing is when Tex is back who does he replace? We can’t replace a quicker player, it would have to be Jenkins if he gets a game.

I think Essendon will run us ragged.

You do realise Douglas played mostly across HB in the first half, whilst Gibbs played most of his minutes in the midfield.

Like last year we have a few key players out, which means some fringe players will probably have to play.

Yeah I do and I reckon Douglas sucked in defence, hence I would swap them.

Strongly disagree as I thought Douglas went OK.

Our defence fell apart in the second half when he wasn't playing there. ;)

I think Tex replaces JJ, or that's what I'd do. Agree on Fog, he did more than enough today. Murphy too, expose the Bombers small defenders lack of defence, in fact their entire defence struggles with their primary role.

Gibbs starts in the middle for mine but should spend time off Half-back for some run and elite kicking. Douglas could also pinch hit back there. Gibson is better than he has shown in these 2 weeks, I'll back him in for a couple weeks before we jettison him.

Greenwood is of some concern which will see Hampton play, Hugh just didn't look close to it today and needs time. Take a risk with Brad too. Our midfield is the least of our concerns at this point.

The one issue without Jenkins is we have no one else remotely equipped to play 2nd ruck.

Will it be Hugh, or Keath.... who else. Daniher is their 2nd ruck and he's pretty handy.

Scoreboard impact maybe just the 5 times. But if you think he didn't bring pace and aggression and made defenders second guess all year - you didn't watch. Forward line looks pedestrian without him so far.
I watched, he coasted alot particularly in the 2nd half of the year when his head was elsewhere.
