I thought all Grundy and Gawn goals were kicked on young
Not sure if it was a match up or zone errors
Geez, you just gave me flashbacks of poor old Troy Simmonds in his last games after all the problems he had, someone here (I think) described him as looking like he was towing a caravan when he tried to take off and run.
Was bloody sad to watch and also such a perfect, hilarious description at the same time.

We still have Grimes and Balta
Plus Broad can play tall if he needs to as well

Tylar had a few nice spoils against the Demons, but I thought he was otherwise generally out positioned and gave away a number of frees as a result.
Plenty to work with, but still a fair way off senior level in my opinion.
I would much prefer to see Miller in defence if another KPD is necessary.
I think Ryan did enough in the match sims to put his name in the mix as our 2nd ruck should Miller be required down back.

We will find out on Saturday when the VFL has a hit out. Either Young or Miller will be held out of that game and there's your likely starter on Thursday. For mine Young just isn't ready for a job on McKay or Curnow and would be undersized on the resting ruck.
I think Miller comes in and Samson plays as well. Who plays in that VFL praccie will tell us a lot.
Will be interesting now with Tarrant confirmed out to see how the MC go about covering him. Grimes did really well on Curnow last season (in the return match) and Balta can take McKay. Miller then comes in to play on the resting ruck, who can also ruck himself if needed. I do prefer Miller as the 2nd ruck but the shortage in key backs means he may have to swing back, plus Ryan maybe in contention for that 2nd ruck role given his pre-season form.
I don't think Young will be thrown into the deep end like that in a actual match but I could be wrong. If he does end up being selected, playing on DeKonning/Pittonet is a lot less daunting than playing on Gawn/Grundy.
Other option is they back Balta/Grimes to take the two Blues talls and go with a mismatch (Broad) on a resting ruck and back our midfield to stifle Carlton's movement into the forward line.

I just spoke to the membership department to clear up some confusion. Whilst all the reserved seats for round 1 have been sold, general admission members can still get in and sit in the general admission section (level 4, Q1-Q15, Q49-Q56). I think the top of the Ponsford Stand (Q28-Q36) is also usually General Admission.
I was very confused this year. Apparently they estimate how many GA seats will be taken up by club members, and then sell the rest (excluding MCC and MCG members of course).
So - if you don't have a ticket, see you at gate 4 or 5 nice and early. Go Tige's.

Graham was a disaster in round 1 last year and probably the reason we lost.
Carlton by 23 points
Us being guinea pigs for the new 50 rule was the reason we lost.

This is making me VERY nervous. Whats wrong with playing Miller in defence and Ryan as second ruck?

I'll melt if Young plays kpb before Miller
young gave away so many frees, probably should've given away moregrundy and gawk had days out, young looked lost and couldnt get near it , but no dimma knows best must play
he does the grimes thing where ur all over them but grimes normally doesn't get called on it most times and is much better at hiding it
young gonna give away 4 shots minimum
