he needs to start showing something soon
I don't want to sound too positive on a fan forum but he was starting to get some okay numbers by the end of last season. He's a bit quiet and unassuming and not the most engaging character but he is heading in the right direction albeit at a slowish pace. He needs time but he will be okay.

I'd love to see Billings get on the park early but from all reports he's not quite ready, which is fine too. He deserves time to get himself right.

Also think Longer is a good option and has shown promise.

Unavailable - Steven, Hayes, Montagna, Gilbert, White, Milera, Pierce, Weller
No or little chance of being selected: Siposs, Markworth, Bruce, Murdoch, Acres, Holmes, Shenton

That leaves 30 players if I have counted correctly. I would think Billings, Dennis-Lane, Simpkin, Dunell & Minchington would also be unlikely. Now we're down to 25.

Gwilt Delaney Roberton
Dempster Fisher Webster
Jones Newnes Geary
Ray Riewoldt Savage
Schneider Maister Stanley
Hickey Curren Armitage
Ross Wright Saunders Dunstan
Lee Longer Templeton

Not bad for a debutant!

I expect big things from this lad in 2014... Blokes on here have touted him as a future captain, he now looks like a man rather than a skinny kid, and at 21, 184cm and 81kgs (as listed) he should be ready to blossom.

Granted he's only played 25 games - and averaged 14.4 possessions in them, which is not awful - but by the end of the year that should be the better part of 50 games and hopefully an average more around the 22 ppg mark.

He had a bit of a breakout game against the Crows in Round 8 last year with 25 possies... That's what he should aim for most weeks...

Pretty happy with that, Cap, but I'd make a few tiny tweaks.

I don't think Gwilt has done enough to warrant selection, and I would prefer we put Simpkin in there instead. We've got enough attack in our back half, I wouldn't mind some boof.

I'd also like Lee in instead of Ross, as I think that he is playing like a medium tall, and that'll help our structure.

I'll also say that I think Newnes will be the first one dropped when Hayes or Joey comes back in, unless he plays well.

Gwilt playing ahead of Bruce and Simpkin last week against Port i think would say he is ahead of them and will be selected before them in our Round 1 side, well it seems that way.

I'd think that Bruce and Fish are fighting out the CHB spot at this stage, and its Gwilt v Simpkin for the 3rd tall spot. Gwilt probably wins the battle for the spot against the Dees precisely because he's a more attacking player, rather than Tom, who is purely defensive. That being said, Simpkin's mongrel is exactly why I'd like to see him play ahead of Gwilt.

Savage will swing through the midfield adding some class to suspect mids - rate Schneider to have a day out -saint Nicholas will need to run back and plug some holes - don't rate Clark even against the saints backs gwilt, dempster and Fisher will be enough to stop melb - Jones will have a day out too - get on saints @ (1-39) $3.20

Forgot about Adam Schneider playing through the middle.. If his Hamstrings are upto him playing as a full time midfielder in round 1 (very unlikely) would be fantastic for us, we all know how classy Schneids is.

I feel so childish but god damn if I can't help myself from finding it funny that he has a strained butt.

It's not really that funny.

Strained glutes are a serious pain in the arse.

I'll get my coat....
