Hi all,
Been a long time since we have hosted NM at the showground (2020 I think). I actually don't think we have ever beaten you there.

There is a bit of hope this year with NM and the young kids. Do you think that will attract many traveling supporters? Hoping for a crowd of around 10-12k but probably won't get there (a lot of track work this weekend making public transport a pain from the west) without a decent number of away fans.

All the best

I’d love to know when, why and how we went from huge optimism throughout the pre-season to abject hopelessness for our R1 game. It’s worth remembering that we performed better in our pre-season games this year than any other time that I can even remember. I mean, sure, we might get flogged - it’s happened before to many of our teams. However, this is the most pessimistic approach to R1, on here, that I’ve ever seen. I’m guessing we’re hedging our bets - in case the worst transpires.

I mean, the Giants look no-nonsense and dangerous, are at home and will be coming off of a warm-up round in which they belted the reigning premiers. It's fair enough to remain realistic and expect a hiding, I can't think of many other games in which the odds could be this stacked against us. Plus we're all more than a bit traumatized at this point.

It's not all bad though. It's good to get a game like this out of the way early - I just want to see us be competitive, and I think it'll be a rewarding test for our team. If we perform well here, despite losing, then the world is our oyster. And if we somehow win? Flagbound.

Not me. Im optimistic. Reckon if all goes right. Midfield pressure, accuracy on goal, defensive unit works in cohesion. We win.

Be nice to see some actual Teamwork down back, a bit of run and effective disposal coming out of defence
It feels a bit like the start of the next 5 year plan
We missed the boat having far too many slow movers and slow thinkers over the Pandemic era
Think we will win 7 this yr and yeah expecting a mostly competitive performance this week
Congrats Pink

Honestly I'm expecting a solid loss on the scoreboard. But I need something.

A burst of play that cuts them down the middle with flash and flair ending in a Zuursma hanger and goal.

A purple patch of 3 or 4 consecutive goals.

Some individual games where we see a stat line that gets us nodding. Duursma 4 goals. Wardlaw 15 and 15 (disp & tackles) Sheezel 35+ McKercher 20+ A Larkey bag LDU 10+ clearances

Something, please!!

Technically off-topic as I assume he’s nowhere near being named for this game… but can anyone enlighten me as to where things are at with Brayden George? Was hoping he would be in the mix for the early rounds but hearing donuts.

Health is on the right track. Needs to develop some match fitness.

He needs to build his base, has a lot of work to do before he can be considered for playing a full AFL game. Not sure what his minutes were like in the VFL practice matches but prior to that he was on managed minutes in the intraclubs I think the most he played was a half.
