From swans page - their likely lineup for round 1.
Looks a pretty good team..

HB - Jake Lloyd - Paddy McCartin - Ollie Florent
C - Dylan Stephens - Errol Gulden - Justin McInerney
HF - Isaac Heeney - Logan McDonald - Sam Reid
F - Tom Papley - Buddy Franklin - Will Hayward

Foll - Peter Ladhams - Callum Mills - James Rowbottom

I/C - Luke Parker, Chad Warner, Braeden Campbell, Harry Cunningham

Sub - Matty Roberts

I was more confident before the GWS game today. We look like a pressure team that forgets to apply pressure. Let's hope we turn it on against, Sydney.

Practice game guys. Relax.
Yeah, Dewy said post match that they’d shifted their mentality this year about pre-season matches.

In the past, it was about getting confidence and momentum for a young team, so wins were seen as important. This year was about trying things and getting info on players and structures.

Whether that translates to early season wins, we’ll see. There are certainly some changes to be made for the Swans game.

Just saw that. Could be a cop out, could be legit but history shows the best teams suck at this time of year.

Pencil us in for the flag.

With so many underdone players how many can we bring in for Rd 1. I think miller, Ellis, rosas and Humphrey come in from today's squad and would be tempted on Powell.

Farrar Collins Graham
Long Ballard constable
Swallow Anderson hollands
Ainsworth Lukosius Flanders
Rosas King chol
Witts Rowell miller
Jeffery Ellis Humphrey holman
Sub Davies

Dew was pretty vague on Powell, saying a few weeks into the season is likely. Same with Weller.

Touk is right for round 1, Ellis a maybe.

No news on Lemmens and Rosas that I can find, which is odd. Neither in practice games or VFL.

Rosas was named for VFL, but nobody seems to know if he actually played.

I think we'll go in like this (not necessarily my desired team)

Graham - Collins - Farrar
Long - Ballard - Constable
Hollands - Miller - Swallow
Ainsworth - Chol - Lukosius
Jeffrey - King - Holman

Witts - Anderson - Rowell

Flanders - Davies - Macpherson - Casboult
Humphrey

Emergency: Fiorini, Berry, Moyle

If Ellis fit, maybe he comes in for Macpherson.

With dmac seemingly likely to get a game in the back pocket can we please make sure he doesn’t take any kick outs. I didn’t love that sharing between him, constable and long.

Not a good short kick and can only kick about 40m.

Doesn’t seem to make any sense to me.

Yeah, not a fan too. Just use Long, Farrar, Constable.

Not sure Macpherson will play. Maybe sub?

Let's say Miller and Ellis are ready. Powell, Weller, Rosas and Lemmens are not.

Long Collins Constable
Farrar Ballard Graham
Ellis Anderson Hollands
Witts Rowell Miller
Ainsworth Chol Swallow
Holman King Jeffrey
Luko Davies Flanders Humphrey
Macpherson

I like the idea of not having dmac but from that bench we probably need someone to rotate in the back 6. Other option could be Ellis plays back and the other wing is shared by swallow, luko, Flanders even holman.

Yeah agree, Ellis rotating back and wing as you said. Personally, I am still not sold on Constable mostly because of his defence. Let's see how he goes.

Looking forward to have Powell and Weller back soon. Hopefully both can perform and last the season.

Personally, I also hope Uwland gets opportunity soon. He is tough, looks a good kick. A bit of Budarick clone, just taller.

There is still lemmens too. Although he hasn't had any match fitness he is still an option as a lock down player. Still waiting for an update on a couple. Sounds like Friday training will be a solid hit out and may give us an idea.

Tempted to drive down the highway and watch it :) I bet Lemmens has soft tissue problem, he watched Essendon game with other boys from sideline and could be ready for round 1 similar to Ellis.

This could be Swans line-up. A strong one, basically only missing Hickey and possibly Fox, Clarke if you consider them best 22.
Ladhams played really well on weekend, but I still think Witts should get better of him (usually does).

I know Dew said we are building for the regular season, not to win practice matches but compared to some other teams and based on performances so far, we look like we’ll be primed for Round 4 or 5, not Round 1.
The pessimistic Suns supporter in me (about 80% :D) has the Swans favourites by about 6 goals. They were very impressive against Carlton. Didn’t look like the GF did them any psychological damage. If we just come out and play like I know we can, we can still roll them.

Were you optimistic last year when we rolled Port and Cats in pre-season and looked gold? :p We did show glimpses of how we want to play.

Funnily enough yes - but only because it was against a severely depleted WCE.

I’ve been emotionally scarred from the disappointments of the past. I even have trouble watching our games live on TV. Too stressful.

With our draw the way it is though, it looks like a measured run into the season rather than bursting out of the gates in Round 1 only to fade mid season might be to our advantage.

Yeah, I also struggle watching live.

Boys look good physically, we should be ok. Just praying for a good run with injuries.

It will be on round 1. Surely, we can make more than 3 tackles per quarter like against GWS in 3rd quarter.
