Love that on the main game day thread the tiges are saying we are the better team and have the upper hand even tho we are less experienced and younger...
Then on their game day thread, we are trash, especially Lachie who is a glorified seagull.
Hmmmmm....

Charting unknown territory tonight. Melbourne may well be the gauge of what a 4-day break does to a team so if we drop off a cliff I will be mentally prepared and if we win then happy days . I think the 1.90 odds flatters our lead up to this game but it will be one hell of a statement if we somehow win

I not sure what can be taken out of tonight’s game no matter what the result is. If we get flogged there are legitimate reasons, if we win will be an unbelievable effort but they do have a lot out. Strange feeling but still excited although I do love having a whole week with that winning feeling rather that 4 days.

Also surprised robbo wasn’t rested. He looked more knackered than usual.... I dunno maybe it was the throwing of the mouth guard.

Really excited to see Payne!!

Honestly just hope to stay competitive and keep our backline structure because I feel we will get hurt on the rebound.

Go the mighty lions show em ur stuff!!!
we will have to be conscious of the odd Richmond forward sitting behind our compressed backline. They would be crazy to kick it to a contested contest down the line with Andrews waiting to punch it out and lock it in. High risk, high reward Richmond might try and get out through the corridor and then kick it over our compressed backline. Starc has good pace, and from what I have seen of Payne, also has pace but we will have to keep our structure.

I'd be happy to give Answerth the job on Dusty when he's forward. The key is going to be slowing their ball movement so he doesn't get too many one on ones. With a kick to his advantage he's going to win most contests even against Dizzy. The problem is his second efforts and winning the ball at ground level.

Section 205 tonight.
Can’t Wait 😊
Go Lions 🦁

I wonder what the traffic is like on a Tuesday afternoon at the time required to get there?
My daughter has tickets . From my bad memory we are in 205 or 206 row A
We are leaving Mitchelton at 4.30 pm
Rather be early than late.
No way of knowing if delays on the M3 & M1.

No rich and birchyl is what concerns me coming out of the back half .
Those two have been super important in getting us out of defense usually with ease.
They also change the angles so we move into a better attacking position.
This now falls to Witherden with back up from Ah Chee and Starcevich
Hope they all do well

Fatigue shouldn’t be as big an issue as technically only played 3 and a bit quarters of footy on Friday. Also no excuses for answorth , Witherdon , ballandeen, skinner or Paine to be fatigued . 5 fresh players could be helpful.

the 5 behinds at the start of the qualifying final still haunt me.
Sometimes i wonder if it was a chance to pull off a 08 Hawks style win.
4 day break annoys me.... but the great thing is if we win... what is their excuse? they couldnt go to a day spa? pfft.
I will be there tonight. Lions by 8

Our forward line towers over their defenders! If we can use the ball properly and not jump on each other, we can certainly take advantage of that!!

Hippy or skinner for a snag tonight??

And our defenders are taller than their forwards.

So we have to watch out for giving them to much separation.

Fingers crossed for this game, not feeling confident of a win. Think I'll be happy if we just fight out a competitive game.

Really looking forward to seeing how Payne goes and similarly hope we get to see a bit more of Ballenden and Skinner now they have a taste. See who can grab the opportunity

Sometimes the second game is the hardest as they havent had a full build up of match fitness. Depends how hard the practice matches have been

Charlie will be primed for this one - I just hope he doesn’t try too hard to do too much to make amends and get frustrated in the process. It’ll happen for him if he plays his game.

If we go down tonight I just hope Riewoldt has no influence and if Grimes flops again he gets outed on every AFL media page and fined.

You can guarantee Grimes flopping at every contact. Embarrassing honestly, as he is a decent defender who gets away with a lot of scragging.

Same goes for any sportsperson/racehorse whatever coming off a long break. The first go is often the best then you get the second up syndrome.

The Tigers should be eternally grateful for what this season has served up . It's about 4 degrees and snowing not that far from Melbourne today

I'm taking the coach Fagan approach - to be the best you've to beat the best. In that context - this game and the next game are crucial for us.

Need to win them all to establish ourselves for finals race.

I don’t think Melbourne is a gauge for anything these days. They had their heart broken by us the game before and are down the bottom of the ladder.

Port is a better gauge, who last night backed up after 4 days and Bulldogs were a very hungry outfit last night. All be it untidy.
Ports pressure especially after half time was fantastic. And they run all over the Dogs.

If we can get off to decent start and take our chances unlike against Geelong in the second quarter a few weeks back. We will be right in the game and will run it out strong.
