Round 10 Trades

Tapscott to Lynch and Swallow to Ablett for me this week, leaving me with 12 trades (will hopefully only require 2 or 3 more upgrades, and cash isn't a problem).

Mark Lecras had alot of midfield time last week. If that continues he should average 90 plus for the remainder of the season. Priced at 313k breakeven 6. Anyone considering bringing him in ?

I'm bringing him in this week. Not 100% convinced as is a risky pick because he can have some shockers but I wanted to pick up a unique to try and work my way back up the rankings.

Yeh definitely prone to low scoring games, but that should be ironed out if he plays midfield. The question mark I'm more worried about is how much midfield time he will actually get.

Flip a coin?!?

Personally I think they don't need him forward right now (as opposed to last year) - IMO Darling has taken over his role and the other talls have stepped up. Not sure if this is how Woosh views it, but LeCras disposal in the midfield is first class and right now with the team balance I think that is where he is most effective.

Having said that, I have considered him, but he is not for me right now.

Anyone considering Scott Thompson? He's at 395k and could be a pretty unique pick. Deciding between him and Murphy. Leaning towards Thompson ATM because of Murphy's bye in Round 23.

Any other thoughts?

My midfield is;
Swan
Pendles
Boyd
Selwood
Montagna
Harris

Hibberd
Bewick
Wallis

Just wondering as I am going to upgrade Harris, who is the ebst midfielder that I don't have?
I am having a rather troubling time deciding but I think I may go witha smokie... Your opinions would be much appreciated!

Mundy and Thompson stick out, but go to TooSerious and sort midfielders by average

Marc Murphy imo

Done deal.

Tapscott > Lynch
Libba > Gazza

What do you think of the above trades?

Solid.

I'm going

Walker -> Lynch
Kennedy -> Gazza

There are better options that Gaz, but him having had his two byes is worth a fair bit. im considering avoiding any premiums who play finals. miss out on heaps of good players, but im struggling to make my finals, let alone win it, so may as well risk it up.

Sorry for knocking you off this week! :p

FWIW, I reckon your backline is pretty good (complete almost) but you definitely need to add some proven guns to your midfield asap then top up your forward line.

That was you? :mad:

Throwing caution to the wind with my trading has reminded me why my golden rule is to never throw caution to the wind with your trading. :eek:

B: Deledio Gibbs, Heppell, H.Shaw, Goddard, Enright, Lower (Puopolo, Batchelor, Toy)
C: Swan, Boyd, Bartel, Foley, Burgoyne, Krakouer (Iles, Hibberd, Polec)
R: Sandilands, Petrie (Keeffe, McCauley)
F: Sylvia, Franklin, Goodes, R.O'Keefe, N.Riewoldt, Knights, Darling (Tapscott, Hale, Prestia)

$186.3k, 17 trades.

Can't afford a donut so I'm gonna have to go:

OUT: Sandilands, Tapscott
IN: Cox, Lynch

15 trades $268.2k

then next round

OUT: Hale, Burgoyne (wanted to do this in this round but unless keeffe or mccauley play I'm stuffed)
IN: Chapman (will have an ok b/e off the back of a monster score this round IMO), Mzungu if he fires up and plays a full game this week.

13 trades E$200k

R: Cox, Petrie (Keeffe, McCauley)
F: Sylvia, Franklin, Goodes, R.O'Keefe, N.Riewoldt, Knights, Darling (Lynch, Mzungu, Prestia)

Bold are areas that still need addressing.

What are peoples thoughts on Knights and Darling as keepers? My thought was to get knights down to first emergency in the forwardline and cash in darling, but he is so damn good I can see his DT scores continuing or even getting better. Plan at this stage is that, as my three bench cash cows aren't going to mature any time soon - maybe I should look to trade in Krak as a forward with Darling and Lynch once ready for $800-850k and I might get 2 premiums and a rookie.

As for the rest of the field, hopefully I can cash in Lower and Batchelor for around $500k in 3-4 rounds and get a rookie and a premium, do the same with Iles and someone else in the midfield and get a cheap premium and a rookie.

Thinking of the following:

1) Toy - Jacobs
I really want to get Jacobs in as I think he's got fantastic job security and is a solid scorer. My options to trade for him are Stanley, Lower, Toy, Luke Thompson, Puopolo, Iles or Hibberd. Out of those, Toy is the only one not playing and making me money, so I'm leaning towards getting him. I had initially pencilled in Stanley as the one to downgrade, but he's solid, has great job security, is still making money and it would give me a heap of cash - but that's not a huge issue for me right now as I have about 530k spare at the moment.

2) D Swallow - Selwood
I've downgraded a fair bit lately (hence the large amount of cash left over) so I think it is time to upgrade. Don't want to upgrade in my backline as there is still significant money to be made, and I'm not confident with the premiums on offer in that position. Swallow and Harris are my 5th and 6th midfielders at the moment, so it's time to get rid of one of them I think, and IMO Swallow is the first to go. I already have Swan, Bartel, Montagna and Boyd in the midfield, and I think Selwood is the next best. Pendles is an option but I want to wait until after Collingwood's 2nd bye to get him in.

What do people think of these trades? Any alternatives that people can suggest? Keen to hear your thoughts.

If i didn't have other trades to make, I'd be making very similar trades this week (except burgoyne out instead of swallow)...toy doesn't have much upside dt wise (not much cash left @ his current rate and poor js) and jacobs is a good prospect that may provide cover for the rest of the year (not sure he will average much above 60 though). Are you planning on using jacobs as a cash cow or as cover?

Solid.

As mentioned in the AFL Prospectus, this is the time to get in Gazza. He dropped in price, and is now the perfect time to cash him in as he has completed his byes. Break even of 76 and projected scores of 109, 124 and 119 will make him an excellent upgrade option this week.

So far I'm 100% sure my first trade will be
Higgins -> Jacobs

Then I'm considering either
Atley -> Chapman
or
Toy -> Enright

Which should I take?

My D7 would be Jacobs and my M6 would be Swallow (GC) without either of the latter trades...
I would then be planning to trade in the other one next week (Chapman or Enright)...
I'm thinking currently, getting rid of Atley would be a good idea, since he has a large BE..

I still don't get why people thing GAJ will score well this year. His projected scores are based on what he did with Geelong last year and he isn't exactly setting the world on fire. Take away is 1 big score and he would be struggling to avg. 100. Also Geelong are going to target him this week so I really think he will struggle to get much more than 80.

I'm going Tappy >> Lynch and Krak >> Thompson this week. For a guy to be averaging 107 and worth less than $400k is rare and if you take away his bad score for an injury he would be close to the top 5 mids this year.

Going to keep Swallow (GC) as my 6th mid until after Swan's bye when hopefully he'll be cheap and refreshed!!

I have a feeling that this week more than any other will be pivotal when trading.

I'm not sold on Ablett, but fear I may be making a mistake. The Baxters said recently in the FC thread that it doesn't matter how a player gets their points, just that they get them, but I'm not so sure. Even when a player is having a poor day it's good if they have a bail out option, such as high tackling numbers, or chip kicks in the backline that helps them tick it over. Maybe it's the ability to kick 3 quick goals.

Over the previous 3 years Ablett averaged 31.4 possessions per game and 4.5 marks, but this year without the appropriate support around him those figures have dropped to 29 and 1.8. The possession figures were boosted by his 41 last weekend, but yes, I appreciate that the very meaning of averages ensures such anomalies. However, three times in 6 games he's had 26 disposals, or less, and just as perturbing is his total of 2 marks from the last 4 weeks. Going on past averages you would have expected 18 marks in those 4 weeks, not 2. There's 48 points missing just there.

In many ways it's a great opportunity to bring Ablett in, as he has no more byes and will be getting more familiar with his teammates, etc, but my gut feel says there are better options.

It may be a wise decision, or put me behind the pack.

Does anyone think Hodge is a good upgrade this week?

Only 350k and looks to be inform. He also plays weak teams in DT finals such as Port, Bulldogs and GC (Round 24)

Hi guys,

Got a few options this week which are doing my head in.

1 trade is pretty much a lock, Tapscott ---> Lynch.

Now my 2nd trade is really bugging me.

Here the trades i am hitting my head over, what are your guys thoughts?

Option 1: Higgins ----> Chappy (still not sure if i should off-load Higgins considering i have held on to him all this time? but given there is still quite a few rounds left can i afford his lack of consistancy?)

Option 2: Darling----> ROK (finishing off my forwards and leaving JRoo and Higgins).

Option 3: JRoo ----> Fyfe

Thoughts?

Yeh I am VERY tempted to bring in Hodge this week to finish off my mids rather than upgrade my forwards. I think he has more chance of averaging 105 than Ablett and is 50k cheaper.

Tapscott > Lynch

then either

Libba > Hodge
or JRoo > Sylvia or Fyfe

Most would say Fyfe is a given but I already have Pav in the forwards and so far have avoided 2 premiums in either line. (Lynch, Prestia, Mzungu/Smith as cover so should be covered when Freo have a bye)

Which way would you go get Hodge now or go Fyfe or Sylvia?
