Round 10 Trades

I want to have a closer look at Gablett and the Suns - this week playing against a top team - before trading him in.

They have got Geelong (x2), Hawthorn (x2), Collingwood, two trips to Perth and games against Sydney, Footscray and St Kilda in the run home.

Ive set up a bit of a trade plan for my team. Leaves me with sufficient backup for small injuries and a considerably strong team. If you want to have a shot at the overall prize youve got to be aggressive and hope you get lucky so this is my team now and my desired trades in the coming weeks.

B - Deledio, Gibbs, Adcock, Goddard, Rance, Lower, Stanley (Puopolo, Hibberd, Toy)
M - Swan, Boyd, Pendlebury, Cotchin, Goodes, Harris ( Parker, Polec, Krakouer)
R - Cox, Petrie (Ryder, Campbell)
F - Sylvia, Franklin, Fyfe, Chapman, Riewoldt, Johnson, Darling (Matera, Prestia, Tippett)

This week: Krakouer > Jacobs,
Darling > Smith

Next week: Harris > Mzungu,
Prestia > Selwood

Following week: Lower > Shaw,
Matera > Callinan

and then once Hibberd has risen enough... Hibberd > Fisher (or another premium back)
and Polec > Higgins (Didak)

Leaves me with a team pre round 13 looking like this..

B - Deledio, Gibbs, Adcock, Goddard, Fisher, Shaw, Rance (Puopolo, Stanley, Toy)
M - Swan, Boyd, Pendlebury, Selwood, Cotchin, Goodes (Parker, Jacobs, Higgins)
R - Cox, Ryder (Campbell, Tippett)
F - Sylvia, Fyfe, Franklin, Chapman, N Riewoldt, S Johnson, Petrie (Mzungu, Smith, Callinan)

Question is.. do you think that team can survive 10 rounds with 6 trades for long term injuries? Solid backup in all positions with Higgins having the ability to cover the midfield or forward line.

I'm going McKernan >> Lynch
Harris >> Montagna

I was tossing up between Pendles, Mundy & Montagna, and believe Montagna is probably the best value this week, both Pendles & Mundy have fairly high B/E this week, so I'll wait a couple of weeks until they drop in price a bit further.

I might go Krakouer> Issac Smith & Stanley/Duigan/B Smith> Scotland. Just not sold on I Smith's JS, even if he is named this week. Very tempting since he's on the bubble though...

Gaaah, the past two weeks I've traded in elite mids, they've failed me. Mitchell and Mundy, darn it.

Going to hold onto Didak for now. Not much point trading him, tbh - we all know he's uber-capable of pulling off massive scores. His role hasn't changed has it? If Malthouse is using him as the sub, does he have a niggling injury that no-one else knows about? Or did the Pies underestimate the Crows for the first 3 and a half quarters?

Players I might sell soon
  • Luke Thompson (brought him in 3 weeks ago, now his BE is 70 :()
  • Jack Darling (his BE of 68 is definitely gettable. But Darling --> Chappy is very tempting if I can finance it).
  • Tom Liberatore (BE of 40, so probably won't be trading him this week)
  • Andy Krakouer (BE of 50, but he's been inconsistent...)
  • Brandon Matera (BE of 35, not yet).

Players I might buy soon
  • Paul Chapman (Playing GC)
  • Ben Jacobs (DPP, nice average)
  • Tendai Mzungu (Wait and see until after he plays a full game)
  • Tom Lynch (Hmmm... is he overpriced for a rookie?)
  • Other random elite players =)

Trading Darling to Chapman requires a downgrade that nets me 120.4K, after taking into account cash in hand. Which can't be done if I trade Luke Thompson, who will likely go down in value.

So, what do people think?

Option 1:
OUT: Krakouer, Darling
IN: Lynch, Chapman

Option 2:
OUT: Krakouer, Darling
IN: Jacobs, Chapman
Loses the FWD-MID link, but creates another DEF-MID link. Would prefer to do Thompson instead of Krakouer, but don't have the cash. Would probably create another FWD-MID link soon with Callinan or Mzungu

Option 3:
OUT: Thompson, Darling
IN: Jacobs, Lynch
Upgrade next week. Although, only having 15 trades left, I don't want to burn them all on rookies.

So, which two out of Jacobs, Lynch and Chappy should I get? Lynch is a bit iffy, IMO. High scores, yes, but against average to poor teams in Adelaide and Brisbane. Lots of marks, which doesn't always happen (9 and 10 in the two games). Or am I being far too critical here?

Me either, why don't you go Mungza instead, at least with Freo's injuries his JS is a little better, and he was the next best thing in preseason.

Already traded Matera out for Mzungu last week. I still have Tappy as my F10 but don't want to waste a trade on him just yet, as I have Didak/Petrie as my F8 at the moment and Tappy will only get me 100k if I trade him for ISmith now. Not enough to get me Scotland at least...Krak could go up another 50k if I stay patient, but my mids are stacked with 6 premiums already, and have ample bench cover without him. Defence needs another premium or two to complete my side so Krak will be out this week or the next...

Hodge is simply too cheap to pass up at the moment. He looks fully fit now and is scoring well, despite being thrown forward.

Conca -> Jacobs
Swallow-> Hodge

Still leaves me with around $100k for an upgrade next week.

Team at the moment:

Deledio, Gibbs, Adcock, Shaw, Goddard, Lower, Jacobs (Heppell, Stanley, Puopolo)
Swan, Pendlebury, Boyd, Bartel, Selwood, Libba (Swallow, Hibberd, Smith)
Cox, Sandilands (Z. Smith, Derickx)
Franklin, Goodes, Chapman, Riewoldt, Knights, Darling, Tapscott (Matera, Pitt, Prestia)
CASH LEFT: $114, 300
TRADES REMAINING: 13

Tapscott > T. Lynch
Libba > Ablett

What do you think of this trade and what should be my future trade plan include for the remainder of 2011?

Hoping like hell Ish Smith comes back in this week so I can downgrade to him, from Tapscott. Then upgrade Swallow to Ablett, leaving me with:

Gibbs, Deledio, Goddard, Heppell, Duigan, Lower, Stanley (Jacobs, Otten, Toy)
Swan, Pendlebury, Boyd, Selwood, Ablett, Boak (Libba, Hibberd, Mzungu)
Cox, Ryder (Z. Smith, McCauley)
Chapman, Franklin, Fyfe, Goodes, Riewoldt, Pavlich, Petrie (Smith, Matera, Prestia)

What's the story with the rookie from Melbourne who racked up 112?

Your midfield is solid with good cover, you should look at upgrading either in the forward or backline instead.

My opinion is that Ablett will be about this price later in the season, giving you a chance to get him later on.

Looking at his current scores 96, 115, 83, 81, 84, 156 i think he will score at least score a couple more in the 80's which should keep his value down. Also with no more byes for gold coast he may be rested/general soreness for a week.

why not just trade Knights to Fyfe if you can afford it ? Your midfield is spot on and no more trades needed there.

Also maybe Tapscott to Mzungu, depends if you are going for overall win or league win. If league win them trade in both Fyfe & Mzungu.

Mzungu will start this weekend for sure

The dreaded General Soreness for Ablett!!!!! There is a high chance he'll go to the general ward as the Suns do not have any byes remaining.

But, it will be a perfect chance for me to get him in now that he's dropped in price and have completed his byes. Or is Luke Hodge a better option?

Cant decide my forward downgrade between Smith and Lynch.

Trying to avoid players from teams playing during finals time as a league win is the be all and end all for me, but man Chapman is calling my name.

word has it Cats may rest 1 or 2 players, since Chapman is down on form could he be 1 of them rested ?

Completes your midfield but exposes your fwd line a little. F7=Matera/Pitt/Prestia/ISmith/Lynch. Still most are getting regular games and scoring ok though.

As for the rest of the season...

Downgrading a maxed out rookie defender + Upgrading a maxed out defender.

Downgrading a maxed out rookie forward + Upgrading a maxed out forward.

Your team should be complete after that leaving you with 7 trades for LTI's. I'd wait a few weeks to pull the trigger on your def&fwd rookies though, as none haven't maxed out yet.

Maybe upgrade Knights/Darling for Didak after Collingwoods Rd13 bye..should be a straight swap by then (price wise) which would leave you 6 trades for LTI's.

Just looking to get MID/DEF MPP downgrade and remove Tapscott at the end of his lifecycle.

Harris - Jacobs
Tapscott - Lynch

$235,200

I'm 10k short of turning Krakouer into Scotland this week, so I'm seriously considering moving Didak to the mids and going Didak>Scotland, then doing a straight swap Krakouer>Didak after Rd 13, (Didak to be my F8) as their prices should be on par by then (if not earlier) Is this insane?

Depending on what he does, getting Didak back in might be a worse idea than trading him out. It's an interesting idea but you'd want to see an improvement before you followed through with it, and then would your reasoning still hold with regard to prices?

Out this week - Conca or Harris? I can afford to bring in any mid with either of them.

Definitely would want to see an improvement from Dids before bringing him back in. For all I know Krak will be averaging more Dids by Rd 13. Will wait and see if his scoring picks up. Didak's price will plummett even if he scores tonnes the next two weeks. Thought I would bring in a gun defender while Didak still has some trade value. I'm spewing I didn't pull the trigger on this trade (Didak>Scotland) last week. Would have scored 2500+ and saved 40k if I did.

I would trade out Conca if I were you, purely because Tiges have the bye next week and reckon Harris still has more cash to be made, as well as being better bench cover, score wise IMHO.
