Round 10 Trades

Need to downgrade a defender to catch Jacobs before he goes up, can't decide out of Duigan, Laidler, Lower or Stanley.

Laidler the best scorer but also the highest BE, Duigan BE of only 9 but only seems to score high against good teams and we have a soft run coming up, Lower also a BE of 9 and more money to be made but worried about JS/subbing, Stanley consistently average scoring but no byes left and seemingly good JS.

Aaargh help me decide!

GAJ v Montag v Murphy

thoughts please ?

Ablett - No more byes, can score big but nothing saying that he will be a consistent 100 plus scorer for the rest of the year.

Montagna - Team is struggling and looks to be taking more of a tag with Hayes down. Can still score big and a lot depends on if the Saints improve or not.

Murphy - Won't cop a tag and looks to be scoring consistently. Would probably choose him atm.

My opinion on them anyway, hope it helps.

My trades this week-

Already done Dangerfield to Lobbe and move Petrie into my forward line and Smith into my starting ruck. I have 148k to upgrade one of my forwards and i am going to take a risk and pick up Lecras as a unique.

My question is who to upgrade for him...

Krakouer - Handy because of DPP and looks like playing all season
Darling - Fairly consistent and i have a feeling he is gonna have some really good games. Should provide good cover during byes.
Matera - Will use a fair bit more of my banked cash to upgrade. Good job security, no byes but also a low scorer.

Also have Prestia on the bench with Mzungu in the mids.

I see Lynch has remained in the team with Dixon back in the team. Am I the only one completely unsure about Lynch both holding his spot and keeping up half decent scores? GC have played the Crows and Lions respectively, and with several tougher games coming up and the inclusion of Dixon I'm not that sold on him. On the other hand I do have 18 trades left and want to remove Tapscott, and the amount of Downgrade targets remaining will keep decreasing. Anybody else care to discuss their view on Lynch?

Given the way GC are rotating their kids I reckon if(when) he gets dropped, he'll be back in the team relatively quickly.

^ Yep Im sure we're not the only ones worried about bringing in Lynch. Especially since I didnt get a chance to watch him for myself in both those games so that doesnt fill me with confidence.
Saw that he got his score without having to rely on a bag of goals tho, so thats a good sign from a tall fwd meaning he knows how to lead up the ground to get those mark-kicks and get a decent score still (like Knights)

Tough opposition this week as well. (Cats midfield to hog the ball and prob Lonergan as direct opponent)

JS wise not sure how many other tall fwds Bluey has in store that needs to be given games.. atm he has Dixon, Lynch and Day which surprised me, but surely cant last?

So yer leaning towards giving this one a miss with Mzungu as a "certain" downgrade target for me but would hate to miss this cash cow!

Any dedicated GC fans/observers can give us an insight?

Already done the extremely popular Tapscott --> Lynch

Now I'm stuck in a bit of a conundrum here... I'm extremely keen to do Duncan ----> Thompson. But if I do this, I temporarily lose the FWD/MID link. And I think Duncan may score well against GC, I have a feeling he will get more mid time (Geelong may be playing Chappy more forward, Selwood more bench time etc).

Could also upgrade Darling/Dawes (already have N-Roo, Sylvia, Franklin, Chappy, Knights) to someone like SJ, Fyfe, Pav or Goodes.... I am really keen on Thompson though. Think he could be a really good choice and he's at a great price for such a good average. Thoughts?

Backline Dilemma:

I have Gibbs, Goddard, Enright, Lower, Broughton, Brodie Smith & Puopolo on the field with a bench of Heppel, Andy Otten & campaigner (shudup)

I'd like to bring in Ben Jacobs & Delidio but am torn as to who to trade out. I'd prefer them both in the backline.

$52,100 in the bank.

Very hesitant to trade out Enright as once he's back in he'll dissapoint a lot of those who lost patience in him. He's a proven premium & he'll be back.

Higgins -> Fyfe. Have had enough of Higgins, he's joined a select few players on my "never again" list

Swallow -> Hodge. Perhaps not ideal, but allows me to (probably) grab GAJ next week as a straight trade from Savage, Krakouer or Harris, without a downgrade needed.

Ok think im going to go with:

Tapscott ------> Lynch (as the norm with everyone)
Higgins -----> Chappy

Desipite Higgins being named. It is almost guaranteed he will miss a few more games down the track. The guy is seriously made of tissue. Just gets injured so easily.

I made the risk going with him, but never again im afraid.

CMON CHAPPY!!!!!! Get a lazy 150 vs the suns! :thumbsu:

I have Atley and Richardson to upgrade/downgrade with $314k in the bank.

Going for league win, do you think it's better to:

1: downgrade both to lynch/jacobs, then next week bring in selwood and another premium

or

2: downgrade richardson to lynch and bring in selwood this week missing out on jacobs.

Not sure how many more downgrades there will be available in the year :(

What do people think about trading Rioli out? Has a B/E of 121 and seems like he won't be playing midfield anymore. Best to get him out now?

Why would you trade someone (Higgins) who is clearly best 22, got a cut eye last week in a flogging so was subbed (and had scored well until then) and can score big? Absolute waste of a trade, and I see it costing you later in the season.

If you held onto Higgins for the whole duration of his injury only to trade him out after 1 week you've got a rocks in your head. You either trade him out when it becomes apparent he's not going to play for a month or you stick with him until his match fitness is up. You don't can him when he gets subbed off after his 1st match back.

You've just wasted 4 weeks of money making bench cover and reduced Higgins value all at once. You either stick with the sinking ship until he comes good again (which i'm sorry to say will take more than 1 week..) or you jump ship at the 1st sign of pain.

Because he is isn't reliable. Sure he can score well, but that is when he is up, we play good and he isn't injured, which isn't very often now a days. This could either be a very good trade or a dumb trade if Higgins begins to rip it up and plays the rest of the season (unlikely).

Wouldn't call it a "waste of a trade".

Also depends on the rest of the team. If Higgins is your biggest issue, then its a good trade.

Just for those considering Lynch....his debut was pretty amazing actually. Looked very good. Second game was pretty good too. Got alot of ball on the lead 60-80 from goal. He's playing half forward, so I don't think his spot is in that much danger from Dixon. Also McKenna seems to like playing a fair few tall athletic kids. He probably will be rested at some stage but should find his way back into the team, in my opinion his job security is good. Still have my doubts about his scoring ability. I think he's playing a pretty tradition CHF at the moment with him I believe getting most of his ball 60-80 from goal, not drifting too far down the wings.

He has been able to get away on the lead often though and his hands appear better than Dixons. Like Dixon from what i've seen so far I think he has pretty decent second efforts on ground level for a KPF. Very impressed with him so far but saying that a few poor scoring games and he may not make as much money as you might currently expect. He may be more of an option to keep for rest of the year on bench even though his job security isn't certain yet.

Think hes a good option and i dont see any better options (other than Mzungu) on the horizon but as impressive as he's been in his first 2 games I don't expect it to continue. I opted not to trade to him but if I had 3 trades this week or less than 440k in the bank I certainly would have.

Nah Im with CrozaN here, planning to trade out Higgins to a solid premium this week.

Should have traded him out after his 1week injury stretched out.. clear danger signs there, but couldnt justify trading out one of my highest averaging fwd at the time.. so foolishly gave him another chance.

Doesnt look right on his first game back (ie: and no he wasnt scoring well prior to his subbing.. got ~30ish by halftime)

Never really intended him to be a keeper anyways, more of a midprice cashcow who I was going to straight swap to a reliable premo.

So before he bleeds anymore cash (Broughton nightmare all over again :eek:), and continuing to give me rookie like scores might as well upgrade now.. plenty of fwd premiums to pick from now. Plus I have 16trades with $ and only a few more upgrades until i finish my team.

Not necessarily. While Higgins isn't playing he is holding his value. Besides, it is only now that I have got myself into the position where I feel comfortable trading him because I don't have more pressing issues. If I felt comfortable keeping him for the rest of the year, I would. I decided to hedge my bets and see how he looked coming back from injury. Despite the fact that the Dogs got a all around flogging, I watched Higgins closely for his entire game. Did not once go and get the ball, but waited for receives. This means, for his scoring to be strong, he needs the Doggies inside mids to be winning the majority of the ball. Do I see that happening for the rest of the year?

Absolutely not

I went...

Otten > Jacobs
Higgins > Chapman

Team is now 63k in the bank with 15 trades left

BACKS: Deledio, Gibbs, Adcock, Heppel, Goddard, Rawlings, Broughton (Stanley, Puopolo, Jacobs)

MIDS: Boyd, Pendlebury, Mundy, Selwood, Montagna, Harris (Krakouer, Bewick, Wallis)

RUCKS: Cox, Sandilands (Z.Smith, McCauley)

FWDS: Franklin, Goodes, Chapman, S.Johnson, Knights, Darling, Petrie (Prestia, Richardson, Mzungu)

Plan to go Krakouer to I.Smith then Harris to Ablett next week and I feel my team will be nice and strong :thumbsu:

With a midfield of Swan, Pendles, Boyd, Montagna, Selwood. Who should be my final keeper in your opinion fellas? Would be very much appreciated...
Names I have are GAJ, Hodge, Mundy, Murphy...

I have $412 600 and im thinking this week:

Darling -----------> Fyfe
Knights ----------->Chappy

Next week:
Swallow----------> Pendles
Pitt/Richardson-------->Mzungu (For cover mainly)

Really wanted to do the Knights to Chappy next week given Knights has a low BE but Chappys is only @ 122. I was thinking of giving Petrie the axe instead, he is extremely bipolar with his scoring. I don't understand the fuss over him as a keeper, his score can make or break your team.
