Dropping Lipinski? And no room for the skipper?
Roughy won't play and that forward line still lacks a second tall. If the opposition are taking constant intercept marks as teams have been doing to us with ease in recent weeks we have to get another tall to give Checkers some relief and as a target for the occasional long bomb. You can't rely on lace out passes to the likes of Henry, McCeery and WHE four or five times per game. The pressure makes this a very difficult proposition.

Madgen, Wilson, Grundy, Kreuger, Johnson, Roughead, Dean, Kelly.

Sure only 2 have been regulars at AFL level but that's still another 6 above 192cm unavailable and not developing (hopefully) in the VFL.

Fair to say we can't afford that.

The main change is like is Pendles back in the centre.
Pendlebury is the best mid I’ve seen wear black and white.
We need to now use him to teach the new generation. Sitting him across half back is a waste.
Playing Crisp and Adams in centre is akin to having a jar of pig turds and saying they are strawberry jam.
From now on, the centre stoppages shall consist of Pendlebury (the teacher and still our best option at stoppages), DeGoey Nick Daicos and Lipinski. There will also be short bursts given to McInness and McCrae.
These players will be our future.
Adams can play up forward. Crisp and Sidebottom down back.
Poulter, Josh Daicos, Quaynor, Harrison… time to see what they offer on the wings?
I don’t want to see Elliot crunched in the midfield. He stays forward.

Begg is in his first season, has barely gained any VFL experience playing against men and some people have talked about him like he was already dominating games at that level.

He wasn't and that's fine because even the very best KPP prospects generally take years (let alone a rookie selection) and someone like JUH wasn't even selected for the Bulldogs tonight based on form.

With no Grundy available Cox is clearly the better option up forward and in the ruck in 2022 and Begg would be better served returning to the VFL and utilising it's main purpose of player development.

He isn't playing midfield anymore because he's a liability in the midfield, his opponent just runs off him all game, no speed to go with anyone or help out defensively.

Despite all the injuries under Buckley we were never getting spanked like this, you could have bet your bottom dollar the opposition knew they were in for a hard fought game. These days, all they need to do is wait for us to turn it over through the corridor…or for Adams to win the ball and clear it directly to the opposition, or for one of our players to go soft at a 50:50. We are so easy to play against. The dogs are a rabble this year, as are west coast.

In: Pendles Cox and a strategy that works

Out: Madgen and c brown

Give me talent and I will shut up

Forget about game plans Our talent is sub standard and the 2020 draft we hung our hopes on looks a big bust. Bye bye Hine

Yep we went into the season heavily invested in unknown tallls…. Adding Begg Henry and McMahon to the list….. most of them are injured and the rest are skinny and still developing confidence. Our kpp depth was always going to be tested this year if we lost one or two players.

Absolutely
But the midfield is a car crash too. Macrae Treloar and Smith 40 plus last night.
We have the worst midfield in AFL

That’s my concern. It wasn’t the kids in the middle last night. It was Adams, DeGoey and Crisp and they got a belting.

Wright and the new head recruiter have a massive task to rebuild this list
You could easily make 15 changes at years end based purely on talent.

Makes me so damn relieved that we have Wright managing this rebuild. Every week I have come away with a different area as our biggest priority. Conclusion, there is a lot of holes on our list.

Out: Madgen
In: Ruscoe

Out: Callum Brown
In: Pendlebury

Out: Tyler Brown
In: Elliot

Out: Begg; as much I’d like to persevere with him, he is far too small and is just getting smashed. It’s not fair on the kid. He needs to be allowed to learn how to be a key position player.

In: Cox. This pains me. But we have absolutely no other option. Unless, somehow, Roughead is fit.

Out: Poulter
In: Ginnivan

Henry gets another chance. Tonight he had the yips.
McCreery stays. He has mongrel. Another crap game and he’s gone…

So Poulter gets 1 game, does ok and gets dropped.

No wonder these kids don't develop.

absolute rubbish .. we were not spanked- we are a team 8 weeks into a new game plan with injuries to 4 players that are first pick in team - get used to it

This is exactly it, and why Buckley and Malthouse always spoke about Defence first. You can’t attack if you don’t have skills.

I think list management is broader than just Hine. In the past it was Eddie making contract calls (Beams, Grundy) and the various footy directors making decisions on the types of players we need…our list management has been atrocious. Most of our prime movers are prone to burning the ball (Adams, Grundy, Crisp, Treloar, Sidey, Degoey). We are shocking.

Going to be a long winter.

This is a development season. Ergo the likes of Madgen, C Brown, WHE, shouldn't be getting games. I would probably be managing out Sidebottom too.

We still need to be competitive if we want to put good development into the kids.

I really think we should play Cox/ Cameron, Mihocek & Begg has a 3 tall forward line.

Cox or Cameron in the ruck (whoever the committee decide) and the other as a KPF.

Begg the 2nd ruckman.

If Cox/Cameron played as a full time forward, they would rarely need to go to the bench.

Ginni, Mihocek, Ollie
Elliot, Cox/Cameron, Beau

Begg - 7th forward / ruck

The whole point of a coach is to put in place a strategy that suits the list. Playing the way we do is ludicrous given the list we have. Hence why now that the novelty has warn off, you’re seeing more and more list gaps.

Buckley took a defective list to a poor umpires decision of a premiership. Macrae confused you all with yep I’m going to come in and just play better, and do everything better, kick more goals and win more ball and all that you know…that was his whole pitch. I was sceptical at the time, I thought can’t see how that will work…but maybe I was missing something…turns out I wasn’t.
