That's a really interesting stat.

Are we managing the players better than everyone else?

Could easily be part reason for our ability to run out games.

Could also be limited versatility in our midfield. Where else are Brodie, Brayshaw, Serong and Mundy going to ‘rest’ on the field?

It’s something I’ve been watching all season. It’s interesting.

Quick maths. Based on 80mins being a full game.

If you want 3 of those mids on at all times and one resting, in others words 3 out of 4 on the field.
3 x 80 = 240
240 / 4 = 60

If they each played 60 mins its 75% gametime.

If we wanted 3 on field out of 5.
3 x 80 = 240
240 / 5 = 48

If they each played 48 mins it’s 60% gametime.

So as absolute pure midfielders they could each play 60%, which would be too low. They’re going to have to each spend a small amount somewhere else on the field or Fyfe to play larger chunks forward etc.

I’m sure they’ll work out the rotations. Shouldn’t be that hard, but I doubt you’ll see all 5 on the ground at the same time unless it’s for crucial times.

I (like a lot of others) liked Logue’s forward move his endeavour, pressuring, speed and marketing are a great addition and will also mean Shultz won’t be flying for marks and will stay on the ground like he should. But if we play Fyfe forward where does that leave Logue, with both Tabs (or Treacy) and Lobb that would be too much.

BUT if you look at our best midfielders (not counting wings) all year our time on ground for our best mids is the lowest in the comp. As an example on the weekend we had Serong (70%), Brayshaw (69%), Brodie (69%) and Mundy (61%) so all spent more than a quarter on the pine. In comparison Melb had Oliver (90%), Petraca (86%) and Viney (84%). A better comparison is probably the bulldogs who had their top 4 midfielders Trelor (87%), Libber (85%), Dunkley (84%) and Bont (84%). So given the low minutes for our gun mids, how do we fit Fyfe in. Do we play Brayshaw on a wing?

My point was more that anyone thinking how does Fyfe impact on our midfield is oblivious to how rotations work. You can fit 3 spots out of 4 or 3 out of 5 and it doesn’t heavily impact actual midfield minutes.

BUT, clearly you want some versatility to be able to spend time elsewhere. I’m ok if Brodie has no versatility and goes 100% gang busters when on the middle.

Clearances are massive in the current AFL game. If Fyfe says he is ready, he comes in. I have read every post, and we all seem to be on the same page here. They can rotate around, it is fine. The best example as mentioned if Logue, such an athlete. He does not always execute but gee whiz, he gives it a crack. He will play on Hipwood.

Personally, I cannot wait to see Brodie and Fyfe playing together. Similar players. Beast mode! Then Brayshaw and Serong. Acres and the outside run of Clark, Frederick and Colyer (people calling him to dropped are crazy btw.)

What a game coming up! Neale vs Fyfe. Mundy to have a cracker I reckon, on the back of contested inside possession. Aish will lock down Neale. It will be a close game. Brisbane are a ripping team. Can't wait!

This would be crazy. I do not get it at all. If he gets injured in the magoos it would be a travesty. Why bother? He is AFL standard by any measure and has no benchmarks to hit. Play him as the sub or train sim with the group. I can only think they are trying to make a stand as to earning your spot. Given the success, I understand the sentiment and impact on other players, but the skipper and arguably best player on your list comes straight in "if fit".

Brodie said a few weeks ago the amount of time he spends on the ground lets him play an impact role, so perhaps they’re doing that with all the mids.

Just to clarify - in terms of position in the team. Aish and Fyfe are simply different player types in every sense.
