We were dominant in that first quarter while May and Petty were still okay. If not for wasteful goal kicking we could been four or five goals ahead by quarter time. Logue up front was working.
logue has to match up on H.Andrews surely this week
We won the game in the middle and the media says it's because Petracca was sick. Well I'm sorry if you put your hand up to play then that's on you. We beat who they put in front of us and that was Gawn, Petracca, Oliver and Viney.

May going down helps sure but we won that game where it counted, in the guts.
100%, if petracca's performance was impacted that much by being sick then he shouldn't have played quite simply.

If Tabs and Fyfe both play, this could be the first time we've had our best 22 on the park in about 10 years.

You could argue having NOD in there as sub ahead of Tucker for our best 23, but really impressive from our S&C team this season.
so you're finally accepting Walters as B22? 🤗

Also against the top teams at the start of the season. So important.
Lots to ponder. Logue can be the swing man this weekend. Another game to play the match ups.
Just looking forward to Aish on Neale. But Jlo could very well throw Fyfe as the one on one target. Not sure if that’s the right match up first game up for Nat.
What does that mean for Serong and Brayshaw? You’d imagine the centre bounce will be Darcy, Fyfe, Brodie and Brayshaw.
Mundy and Serong can play up forward at times. Could see Mundy rested. Just really depends on what training loads Fyfe has been reaching.

Basically one change if Tabs comes up - Fyfe for Tucker who goes to sub.

Banfield to Peel for some game time possibly, but he does seem to be the preferred sub.

I watched the whole Peel match, Treacy needs to work on his leading patterns and one on one work, and clunk some marks occasionally. He didn't get a look until the 3rd quarter, and there was an out of bounds on the full for one goal from a shank, not a pressure act. Only comes in if Tabs is out.

Like Logue forward on Andrews and he could swing back if necessary.

It will be interesting to see if we continue to use Logue forward in some sort of (semi) defensive role.

Given May went off early we probably didnt get to see how things played out, either May accepting the 'tag' or alternatively taking a defensive role on our FF (and then getting a look at how we used Logue in turn).

We probably also lose an element of surprise in terms of Brisbane preparing for it this week.

When does Matt Johnson take David Mundy's role? Obviously not yet, but this change is coming whether it be this year or round 1 next year.

He wasn't best 22 earlier in the season, but credit where credit's due: he came good.

Came Good??? Him, Jeffrey & Ballas have been our best small forwards over the journey.
Sonny is right up at the top in these 3, and that is a distinguished list!!
Never forget Sonny was our most dangerous forward in the 2013 GF, could be the same in 2022

We have to bring Fyfe back in this week but does he play mainly midfield or forward.

I (like a lot of others) liked Logue’s forward move his endeavour, pressuring, speed and marketing are a great addition and will also mean Shultz won’t be flying for marks and will stay on the ground like he should. But if we play Fyfe forward where does that leave Logue, with both Tabs (or Treacy) and Lobb that would be too much.

BUT if you look at our best midfielders (not counting wings) all year our time on ground for our best mids is the lowest in the comp. As an example on the weekend we had Serong (70%), Brayshaw (69%), Brodie (69%) and Mundy (61%) so all spent more than a quarter on the pine. In comparison Melb had Oliver (90%), Petraca (86%) and Viney (84%). A better comparison is probably the bulldogs who had their top 4 midfielders Trelor (87%), Libber (85%), Dunkley (84%) and Bont (84%). So given the low minutes for our gun mids, how do we fit Fyfe in. Do we play Brayshaw on a wing?

Fyfe in for Tucker the only change assuming Tabs is ok, and he should be. Tabs injury is not really something that happened on the day, rather it's something he's been managing all season.

True, but Logue could just go up there and cause a few headaches as he's a bit of a wild card there, no one really knows what he's gonna do...he was instrumental in a lot of things on Sat, even with May going down. I personally really liked it, initially I didn't when he missed that set shot in the first quarter - but after that he looked more comfortable in the role and was dangerous throughout thereafter even though he didn't goal.

Most radical, creative and outside-the-box thing J-Lo has done to date, I like this side of him and I hope he gives it another shot as it could be the balance we need for both ends to fire on all cylinders

I'm talking 2022. Not 2013.

Fyfe is clearly playing for Freo this weekend by the way, there is no way they still dont know per the injury report haha
little sneaky buggers playing cloak & daggers. You know that Optus is gonna be packed out if a 2 time Brownlow medalist is announced as in. Mental mind games with Brisbane who would surely be preparing for him anyway.....silly tarts :tearsofjoy:

That's a really interesting stat.

Are we managing the players better than everyone else?
