It honestly sounds like the club is a bit split on whether to play him in the WAFL or AFL, hence their meeting today with Bell etc. I'd say Fyfe wants to play but Bell wants to protect his most valuable asset. My money is he'll play AFL with reduced time on ground (or rest forward)

It would be lunacy to play Fyfe in the 2's in my opinion. Given the team selection record we've had with JL I'd expect Fyfe to play at Peel on that basis alone. It'll be another idiotic call if it happens that way. For every Griff Logue playing forward selection we've had that worked out we've got 3 examples of Banfield playing or playing Tabs in a downpour when returning from a hammy or Pearce injuring himself up forward or Treacy being mismanaged etc. But that's another topic.

It doesn't matter that Fyfe wouldn't be playing against meth heads or that he'd be the biggest guy out there. It's that he'll be playing against lesser athletes trying to impress their coach, themselves or even Fyfe and going much harder as a result just to match or impress. With that will come clumsy efforts and pinballing bodies from a lack of athleticism. No malice, just a lack of ability compared to the top level where things are slightly more predictable for elite athletes like Fyfe.

We've seen what can happen in the WAFL with Amiss, to risk Fyfe there just seems so stupid. He's fit and ready or he's not. Clearly he's fit and therefore he should play AFL. We have the medi-sub if he gets "sore" and we can manage his minutes that way.

At the very least he's just as likely to get hurt at Peel, maybe even more so. The law of averages says he probably won't but it's not smart to risk it there and playing him at Peel would be an indication our less than well reasoned selections remain an issue despite the great result on the weekend and others throughout the year.

Well if nothing else the club is getting plenty of media coverage over the Fyfe call.

I kind of wonder if tuckers role was defensive cover - especially in transition and if he should be judged on that?

It’s hard for us to access that, but if you look at tackles and pressure acts for our mids, Tucker had the lowest tackle count out of Him, Brayshaw, Serong, Brodie and Mundy and the 2nd lowest pressure acts, despite having the most time on ground (72%) of the 5 (Mundy only 61% TOG)

I don't think it's that out of the question for any player to build match fitness back at a lower level if that is what's needed. In terms of say NBA players, they would give them a few minutes off the bench in a main game, but they have a lot of players on the bench compared to playing. 5-6 vs 5 on the court. It would be like the AFL teams having say up to 18 bench players. Same in Soccer, they would sub them for the last 30 minutes of a match or something. Teams don't have that flexibility obviously.

In this case, however, I expect Fyfe to play.

I've been thinking for a while that Fyfe on a wing shows a lot of promise, that tall marking target up and down the wings would be brilliant, obviously goes inside quite a bit as well but he is the player that could go mid rotation that makes the most sense to play multiple positions.

Problem with my theory is that Hackdorn has just said Fyfe will line up the wing on the weekend, means it won't be happening, I genuinely think its a good idea to give him some wing time in rotation, Brayshaw is our only other that could play wing (out of Brodie, Serong, Bray, Mundy) and he is too good in the guts so Fyfe is the one that can do it.

Bloody Hackdorn ruining my ideas though, can't see it happening now, that bloke gets everything wrong

Didn’t know Hackdorn was back. Anyway wing actually makes a bit of sense. Also Tucker based on performances and last in, would be the player I’d suggest to make way. Also against Melbourne Tucker spent time on the Wing.

Start Fyfe in the bench and bring him onto the wing. He can play the same wing side as Jordan Clark who pushes back.

Fyfe takes a great contested mark and would be a good release option from the backline. He loves the room to run and fly for a mark.

He could drop into the centre for the odd cameo once the game is rolling but I think wing is a good option for Fyfe.

Glad to hear that Logue is going to be persisted with as medium tall. Means Banfield likely back at Peel. If Tabs is out then bring Treacy in and maintain the current structure.

In: Fyfe
Out: Tucker

Emergencies: Treacy (on standby for Tabs), Tucker, Crowden

One of Crowden or Tucker as Sub.

Didn’t know Hackdorn was back.
He is absolutely sooking it up saying the treatment of the Eagles by 7west media is atrocious

funny as Fu#$

I just want to see Fyfe monster Neale like he did a couple of seasons ago. Neale gave up against Fyfe in a marking contest in our forward line . Fyfe marked and goaled.
Beautiful stuff with the master humbling the pupil.
I was there, it was beautiful

My thoughts were that the weekend just past would have been the time to play Fyfe in the WAFL, even if it was just an hour game time with the Peel reserves team.

I was listening to some sports radio recently where Nathan Buckley was being quoted as saying the rehab training programs now mean that players can come in and perform at AFL level without having to get fitness in the lower levels.

OMG that was nuts! How is he paid to talk shit (literally) like this?!

Given that the Melbourne game was an away game with only a couple of hundred Docker supporters (although they sounded like a couple of thousand) is anyone interested in giving our Docker warriors a STANDING OVATION when they run out to play Brisbane on Sunday?

I for one will be on my feet to applaud them for giving us one of the best games we have seen in a very long time. It’s up there with the Geelong and Sydney finals games.

It will send a strong message to the team.

Keep it for the Grand Final.

It will be absolute insanity if Fyfe plays WAFL this weekend. If he’s fit to play footy he plays in the AFL.
That’s simply all there is to say on that matter.
I assume all the media and talk about WAFL was for the playing group to make it look like you have to be 100% and earn your spot back for fairness. No one gets any special treatment unless you have won 2 Brownlow's, then we have to really consider it carefully.

Lol so I see some if us are back to the 'Fyfe can come back via the WAFL/Medi Sub'.

We've learned nothing from the past few weeks have we.

If he's fit he plays.

It’s Fremantle not Fyfemantle

Till he’s treated as just another player albeit a talented one we really have learnt nothing
