Exactly.we had some absolute champions out of this game, replaced by kids and assorted VFL players. It was bound to catch up with us eventually, and it did tonight.

We played the Dogs who are a middle of the road team missing key players through injury too.

Charlie Dean is not ready,

It’s coaching, and it needs to stop.
It’s too hard to defend for more than 5-10 mins at a time.
MCRae needs to make this adjustment quick smart, it has cost us the last 2 weeks and we got lucky the week before.

Charlie Dean is an intercepting third tall defender. He can replace Howe. He cannot replace Frampton and play on a 200cm + seasoned forward. It was suicide playing he and Howe together against the Dogs and putting Frampton, who has no demonstrated ability as a forward, up forward to kick us a score.

Even more mind boggling that the change wasn’t made at half time when there was plenty of evidence that they’d cocked it up.

Howe can take a mark and is clever with his positioning up forward, something Frampton and AJ struggled with all night on both fronts.

+ Frampton height would’ve been a better matchup on Darcy.

Markov also should’ve gone back, Noble to the wing and Bytel subbed off.

And he is an accurate set shot for goal, which Frampton is not.

Final quarter fade out 3 weeks in a row is a bit worrying...

Otherwise eh. The forward line is so undermanned that we had to play Frampton down there, which hurt the backline.

I’d rather Frampton have played back. Dean isn’t a tall defender, he’s a medium. I’d rather Frampton locking down to free up Moore and Howe to intercept and help

Basically said as much myself in the prior thread. But apparent we “won the flag” last year is the excuse for all of it.

Coach is making some Buckley level choices that are starting to become notable.
The persisting with the same defender on a player who’s absolutely SHITTING on us for way too long is Buckley level coaching

Threw that game away in the coaches’ box and selection table. Every single poster on this board could see that Frampton should have played back and Howe forward. Kreuger would have given a lot more than AJ for that matter.

Just a waste of a game. Clown college stuff. We can’t afford to be giving games away by putting our players in impossible positions. What happened to setting our players up to succeed? So poor.

We lost it in that first quarter. Shooter owes us in finals if we make it

Frampton forward was pointless, my Dean/Howe shortass nightmare came true

That said - Offer Darcy 1m a year

Ash has the Cox issue - doesn’t compete sometimes

Noble made too many skill errors

No one else deserves a slap as they aren’t old enough etc

Correct but he isn’t ready

And it's 200cm +++++++++. Darcy is 208cm, a massive 13cm taller than Dean!

I’m yet to see any of this intercepting at all. I just don’t see it.

He is a 195cm key defender who plays like a sub 190cm defender.

He also goes to ground constantly like he has been shot in the leg at the slightest bit of body contact.

McCreery had 14 tackles and 8 disposals as a full time midfielder. He tries his guts out but we were a man down all game in the centre square. You can't carry players in the midfield that can't find the ball.

The only footy IQ he has is to chase and tackle. You can only play that type of player in the forward line. Hopefully Fly has learnt that and ends this experiment immediately.

we have reached the tipping point with injuries, the boys look cooked. Bye can’t come quick enough

Absolutely past the tipping point now. Last week we were there and just hung on for the draw. Then we lost 4 more but only got Howe back of any quality. The loss of Cox is huge (no pun intended). Losing Billy Frampton from defence destroys us.

At least no new injuries

Hopefully. We don’t always know in game what injuries happen. We’ll get Reef and the Hyphen back next week but that’s it I think. I expect Melbourne to smash us now. We’re too vulnerable.

They would have like Liberatore, Naughton, Richards, Weightman, Bailey Smith and not the 2 ingame injuries.

Agree that the coaching was underwhelming tonight.

They had quality out. No doubt. But so do we in greater numbers. And far too many depth players that aren’t AFL standard.
But fact they were down one on the bench, we should have been able to run out the game better than them. We seem cooked at the moment. We need the bye. We’ll likely lose next week but still should beat North because they’re not even VFL quality.

Post bye we start getting key people back.
