Autopsy Round 13, 2024: St.Kilda v Gold Coast: #GrabGate2024

Gold Coast probably played their second worst game for the season. Not sure how St Kilda won, you could count our clean passages of play on one hand.

Higgins putrid. King putrid. Membery putrid. Webster putrid.

I mean how do you win a game with so many non-contributors?
You can add Wood and Wilson (spell time) to that

Neural here. Watched the team pump the song out, to me that’s alarm bells - there’s zero passion there. What’s going on?

Playing like that would be as enjoyable as it is to watch.

So did somebody else coach the first quarter? The amount of simple things we stuffed up was outrageous. Bloody Lyon.
Are you referring to the avalanche of 3 goals in the 1st qrt? Our baseline expectation is so low now we will get excited by anything.

We are the worst game of footy to watch every round. Lyons coaching is a dead set disgrace. It's just a mega flood. Basic AF. Stopped working 15 years ago.

Terrible game, poor execution, incredibly bad umpires.
Doogs early threw the structure out. Had to flood back to support the backs.

Also had to make it a scrap as the parasites are stacked with free top ten players and on paper their mids are twice as good as ours.

Horrible game but a win is a win against the AFL booster club with the umpires on their side all night.
Not 15, not 15, not 15 blah blah blah.

When the **** to we get a bye? Lions have had two, we will get killed next Friday night.

First game live this season, what's with the players unwilling to take contact to nullify the opposition after we dish off? Very basic concept got us into trouble countless times. So many shite hospital handballs too due to panic also.

I've never seen a team so hesitant to kick, its like they're all worried about getting blasted for turning over a kick so they just handball and give the responsibility to someone else.

The forwards also need a massive rocket up the arse, the lack of movement is astounding.

I would be more concerned if they DID pump the song out. Did you watch that shitshow? Gifted the game winning goal from an off the ball wrestle between a key forward and key defender that happens 50 times a game. They looked downright sheepish down the race, and they should do.

I'm in different camp.

You know you got gifted and you know you got the win, you are friggen giddy as you shouldn't have, did, and it's not your fault, so you take that gift and you run, you run all the way to the bank and you scream it.

There's time later to be all "thank god for that, we were so shizen it's not funny", that time for me is not immediately after the match.

Coach 100% lost the players IMO. Who would get excited about this dog shit outdated game plan that strips any natural flair out of your game?

It's uninspired, outdated, and so so boring.

Wilson had a quiet game but he was very good at the death.

NWM was awesome.

We struggle with our skills and composure. Had so many chances to score easy goals and stuffed it up.

I thought Clark had a good second half.

Not sure how we won the game but at least we kept going at the end and stole the lead back. There's probably not a lot of positives to draw from it, we are so frustrating to watch but we managed to win the game and that's a positive for all those that trekked out to Marvel tonight. Some of Hammer's efforts were good too.

Yeh the free kick to king in the last was DEFINITELY pro GC.

We’re the worst team to watch every single week and we can’t even tank properly.

I’d rather we lose, at least we’d know what we’re trying to achieve.

Ben Long can eat my arse

Shit game - take the 4 points and move on. Hunter Clark deserves another contract, that is all.

Couldn't give fig how it looked....taking on a quality team with 4 a grade midfielders and basically leading all game and winning. Im pretty happy to be honest. Great to see Clark back with some form and also Sinclair looked back in touch from the HBF. Also great games from Battle and Wilkie to cover Howards early departure as well.

We are vile to watch.

Just a shambles.

On a positive note....Our pressure seemed better. Windy did it again. I've never actually lost faith in Clark... think he brings a lot to the table. Battle very good.

Not so positive... where do I start

Wilson's disposal needs a lot of work. I think he could do with a run in the 2's.

I reckon Henry looks lazy at times.

We're really getting nothing from King. Would rather Sharman in.

It would be great if we could stop giving the ball to players who have an oppo player practically on top of them.

If anyone questions a fit Clark's spot in the side after tonight, they don't understand football. Stood up in an outstanding fourth quarter, was the difference.

King got lucky enough with his last free kick, other than that Andrew was dominant. Max needs to stop trying to push blokes if he actually gets to them on a chase, nearly cost us a couple of times. Is Andrew contracted? I'd be offering him a mountain of cash.

Battle and Wilkie, good lord, if those two aren't in the Brownlow votes tonight then the umpires really are blind.

Windy, what an unbelievable effort and well done Ross for singling out Touk. When he tags, he inserts himself into the game better than anyone.

Sinclair, again, dominant on the half backline. Makes Bonner a better player too as eases the pressure on Bonner.

It's been years since we've had someone as silky and elusive as Nas, I'd say Dal Santo was the last one. Great game yet again.

Wood had one to forget, he's got runs on the board but will be pretty relieved at the result.

Butler, credit where it's due, had a great game and did exactly what you want from a small forward. Higgins and Wilson, may not have gotten the numbers - but both did a few good things with some average entries.

Caminiti, it's easy to forget he's just out of his teens. Really stood up in the last with some big touches when we needed a tall to compete.

All in all, we aren't in the top half of the competition, but we fought and got the result we deserved.

Interestingly, only 3 points separated the two clubs over 8 quarters of footy. We won a close one again, it's a much better feeling than losing!
