Can Simpson be blamed for the senior mids getting slaughtered?
If he was in his first year at the club? Probably not that badly no.

But after aaaaallllllllllll of this? Yeah, the buck stops with him on pretty much every element now, barring maybe once in a lifetime bad goal kicking. It’s time.

After this can the MC now please swing the axe next week.
Darling for dewar
Flynn and B.Williams for J.Williams and Barnett
Rotham for Burgiel(despite not quite earning it yet)
Jones for Johnston
Witherden for Culley (and play him in the centre!)
Chesser to half back - let’s move some magnets!

Totally agree

Sometimes things are so bad you just want to set the unbeatable record for shiteness.

Last year we set the benchmark against the Hawks with only 1 mark I50 for the game. For 3 1/2 quarters we were on track to beat that and set the unbeatable tally of zero marks I50 for a match. And we couldn't even achieve that.
We're so bad we can't even be the best bunch of losers ever.

if yeo and Kelly turn up and have 30 touches each the outcome of the game is completely different.

Didn’t realise it was simpsons fault that yeos dad died and it resulted in yeo having 20 less touches than his direct opponents.

no one said it was, the question was "Can Simpson be blamed for the senior mids getting slaughtered?"

the answer is yes, he's the head coach and he's ultimately responsible for on field performance

its the same in every other sport, and it's the same in basically any sort of senior management role, you're responsible for the output of your team

Weird game. It wasn't quite Adelaide because you could see the boys were making an effort but we were still being outworked all over the ground. There were some good moments but Hawthorn had answers to most of what we did.

The drums will beat a little louder this week and rightfully so. On one hand, this will be a teaching moment for the young guys for what is required at AFL level. On the other hand, our senior players already know and need to lead by example.

What young guys? Reid, Chesser, ginbey and who?? The rest of them have all hung around like a bad smell year after year and have no capacity for learning anything else

We need someone to come in and have a long look at the list and separate the wheat from the chaff. Harvest the best talent available from the draft and trades and sow the seeds for the next crop of players to lead us forward.

Can Simpson be blamed for the senior mids getting slaughtered?
Good question... Flynn no impact and our mids weren't ready to get into the hard stuff.. hawks mids aint no contested duds either.
Sad to say, we were out coached, or should I say.. s Mitchell coached perfectly.

Trying to be positive, such a tough loss

Well…sure.

You don’t get that sort of rope when you’ve presided over the worst era in club history. Our list has a hard ceiling on it due to the level of talent on the list, but this is as strong a Round 16 lineup as any club could hope to put out there.

If you’re going to back in the guy who has steered us into/hopefully through and out of the last few years, then the onus is on him to fix things. He can’t click his fingers and get Yeo or Kelly 30 touches, but fairly on unfairly given the amount of chances he’s had, we need to see a hell of a lot more than that.

Mids got a bath. That’ll happen sometimes. But that wasn’t the only issue today. We couldn’t transition the ball at all, we had no run and carry, it was just one of those days we’ve seen too often where it’s evident we’re miles off it right from the start. Midfield didn’t help, but there’s so much more to fix about today than that.

I’ve been possibly the most patient one on here with Simmo, laughing at the people desperate to melt over every single tiny bump in the road because they need a machine to rage against, but equally sometimes bad is just bad. Today was a mountain, not a mole hill.

Who else is there? What does Simpson genuinely have to work with.

Kelly back in after a month off is the only other senior mid in the team.
If he can’t fire up the players then he is useless as a coach? Every team has spuds in it but usually they play for the coach and lift. Our stars can barely even lift for him. He’s done

Tim Kelly needs to hang his head in shame

I know just the blokes for the job

to be fair the backline is probably our only positive out of this game, and the only reason we didn't lose by 100. gov and barrass specifically.

our mids offered no support which meant our backs had to just bomb it long in hope

our forwards were invisible because there was no midfield to deliver it to them
Our back LINE is Hough gov and TB.

The rest....

Witherden cole and rotham and Duggan were god aweful. Cole is just a spud. Duggan and Witherden butcher the ball and turn it over every god damn week. Rotham couldn't read a play if he tried. None of them have run and carry. None of them have elite kicking. Tackling....9 tackles between the 4 of them. Missed tackles and clangers I don't have numbers on buy sure as shit I'm sure that a winning stat.
