They probably need some experience to organise their backline
They do have former Brisbane Lions legend Alex Witherden playing in their backline :shoutyoldman:

Slightly off topic, but allegedly the big leak that’s in the news this evening is largely players from WA clubs.

IF that’s true, does anyone find it interesting that this happens now? Think back to the Jack Crisp and Dusty incidents as well.

All three before they play Brisbane.

Shuey is a big out for the Eagles, looked their most likely mid last week against the Saints.
I believe OOC this year, and over the last few years had heaps of soft tissue injuries. If Simpson and list management were going to send a message to the playing group they should not offer another contract (or at least heavily reduced and captaincy removed). They need to move past their ageing players who are taking up considerable salary cap.

Even with our outs I believe we win comfortably, as I believe we have good depth.

Hurn is a champion of the WCE, however him being out is a big loss for the Lions.

He put in a shockingly good performance last week and was a fairly big contributor to their first half score line

I was living in Western Victoria at the time and sat in the car listening to the game on 3LO, not 3KZ 😉

By the way, have you checked out the Fitzroy 140th anniversary guernsey ?

Zorko & Gunston are in ........ well that's what was temporarily on the Lions website.
I think it may have been inadvertently posted ...... there was no story behind the headline.... now removed.

Gunston to kick 5 and Fages to declare "he is back".

BREAKING - FAGAN THREATENS TO DROP PLAYERS WHO DO NOT KICK THE BALL TO JACK GUNSTON! Coach introduces new metric for midfielders and warns, “I will be counting KTGs” (Kicks to Gunston).

Jack regained (gained?) agility in 3 weeks ?
Let’s hope Fagan sees sense and doesn’t select him. If he does, I would hope we move Fagan on and look at Damian Hardwick for 2024. Hardwick wants to coach again, he’s got a CV covered in Premierships and a move to sunny Queensland might be the fresh start he needs.

Seriously, he's had a really good training block and would have no chance of getting picked unless he's ticking the right boxes and impressing the coaches and the team. Let's not be melodramatic.

If gunston gets a game I will lose my mind.

Brisbane residents will hear my melt - not read it.

I can already feel my blood pressure rising.

BOYS ......... he's in ....................... refer #60 above.

I guess we’ll know soon enough because Fagan is loyal to an ageing ex hawk to whom the lions owe absolutely nothing. He had a whole pre season to be fit and needed a rest in round 5.

He’ll kick 3 cause you know it’s west coast.

Then be absolutely useless against the dees. Fagan will back him in again until round 24.

Okay that’s my pre melt done :)
