In: Caddy, Shiel

Out: Goldstein, Cox

One ruck and Caddy adds more than two rucks.

I think we should only play one of Jones and Cox. At this point, Jones has shown more on a wing in two games than Cox has in four years. Jones/Duursma/Martin should be our wing rotation.

I’d get shiel in we need another mover with leg speed in this side and another mid to take off the load from Durham and Caldwell. Teams are putting a lot of work into merrett knowing if they shut him down you’re a good chance to beat essendon.

Have to take out a tall aswell

Knowing all this the likely only changes will be Kelly for Menzie.

This has a familiar feeling to it, either we'll stand up after a week of scrutiny and the media questioning us and really put in a performance we can all be proud of

Or, more likely, we go full Essington and it's Round 24 last year all over again

Don’t want to be negative, but feels like we’ve got our legs dangling off the cliff right now. Either we knuckle down and sort out some glaring issues in the next 5 days or a really bad loss is incoming imo.

The problems we’ve got up forward don’t feel like a simple fix at all. We simply lack scoring power. I think we’ve seen the current set up’s ceiling. It was alright when Langford drew a loose matchup but now that he’s having minimal impact it’s gotta be close to the worst performing forward line in the league.

I think missing Parish at stoppage is contributing a fair bit to our inability to score when we’re locked in f50. If you can’t do that, and can’t defend when it spills out, you’re not gonna beat any good side.

In: Caddy, Kelly, Hobbs
Out: Menzie, Perkins, Goldstein/Draper/Wright

hopefully 3 losses in 4 games leads to a few changes (and no injury changes)

Hayes McKay Ridley
Caldwell Redman McGrath (Lav)
Dursma Durham Martin
Bryan Merrett Setterfield (Hobbs/Perkins)
Guelf Wright Gresh
Hind draper langford (caddy)
Sub: Stringer
Hayes: deserves a chance. Frees up Ridley to be a medium defender

Caldwell has been good as a mid but honestly the difference between him vs Sheil or Hobbs as a replacement player isn’t all that much. Plays with courage but Offers very little in the front 3rd. HB/Mid rotation allows him to play to his strengths.

Wings: Jones Dursma Martin
Martin and Dursma are top level wings and this is their best spot. Jones also looked great there in the Jake Kelly role. Doesn’t fully understand the running patterns but should be persisted with.
Would have Sheil over Hobbs but he’s on the Grundy special RN. Perkins is a big body who needs reps. (Come back soon Darcy)

Jake doesn’t have the tank to play pressure forward. Langford lucky to keep his spot over Stringer. For that 1 MF role.

Your obsession with playing Caldwell off HB is very strange. He's been our best mid the past month.

This part is just terribly incorrect.

Are we a better team last year? As of now we haven’t beaten a single team in the top 8, and 7 of our wins have come from tight scrapes against the bottom 6 sides…. At least last year we knocked over GWS, Carlton and Melbourne from the final top 5/6…

A real test of our resilience to see if we can bounce back from the last game.

I reckon we'll show more fight, but I still think it'll be the Umpires by 30.

Probably about the same.

A few players have improved, but just as many have regressed.

Swap hind with Perkins and bring in Kelly for Heppell and reckon you are pretty close

I think we are a way better team. We are just flawed in the front half in a way we cant improve without getting some better players. Our defense, our transition out of defense, our ability to defend stoppage have improved out of sight.

Our first half of the game I thought we were in control without getting the goals on the scoreboard. Our forward line is our biggest issue. We definitely need more speed in the forward line.
Unfortunately we gave up in the second half. Playing under the roof for half our Melbourne games doesn’t help us either in the wet conditions.
