It's impossible to be confident of a victory, having not beaten Geelong at all since 2009 and not at Skilled since 2003. Had we only had the 2 changes, it would be much closer, but we can't expect to be competitive against them at home with the team selected. I'd love to say we'll be right in the game, and I pray that we are, but my head says Geelong win by 52 points. The Geelong -24.5 at $1.90 is amazing value IMO. Bet responsibly.

Go Dogs, just be competitive.

Gameday thread up while Im still at work? what the **** is this?!?

Cant say Im overly excited. Hoping the last week has everyone fired up and we finally click. Come out, make a statement and get the win in these circumstances and well I'm rapt with the season no matter what happens here on out.

We've got nothing to lose now and this is when weve played our best footy, who knows :)

You can get it rooting,
You can get it shooting,
You can get it stopping a queer.
Matter of fact, ive got it now
the taste for a long, cold beer.
Have a few beers and watch the dogs prove we can still win the 2016 flag.

It's not meant to rain unfortunately
Correct. It won't rain. Should be a pleasant night. The only discomfort will probably come from watching us play. But here's hoping for a surprise!

Thanks Rodney Rude!

Hopefully the boys play with some freedom tonight. The additional outs are shitty but it means there are no expectations on them, pretty much everyone will expect Geelong to win by 5 goals plus with the injuries, milestones etc. It's almost nothing to lose territory.

Or the excuses are ready made and the boys just fall back on those. Depends if your glass is half full or empty.

I've got a works night out so will get trolleyed while watching it somewhere, hopefully shouting myself hoarse at a 1 point win.

Very, very concerned about the presence of a Face Off thread ahead of such an important match..... I thought there were rules against that sort of thing.....
Faceoffs are ok

Banter threads and bigging ourselves up like Pandoras Box before the Hawthorn game and that other no limitations thread are a big no no in my book

Fair comment, but I seem to recall a very poor correlation recently between face off threads and good team performances.... But I may be recalling a previous year or two.....

Na pretty sure Faceoffs are safe

Banter threads and overoptimistic threads are catastrophic = injuries and bad losses

Nothing to lose. Looking forward to watching Hamling and Cordy. They are playing for a finals spot if they play well. I hope Adcock shows some mongrel and takes a few hand-baggers out. It's probably his last game so he needs to make an impact.

Quietly confident about this game but then again I was last time we played Geelong.... so maybe it's a bad omen.

We might not have won down at KP in yonks but its's not like we've played badly there in recent years (a close loss last year), nor is it really a fortress it has been previously (a couple of soft losses Geelong have had).

Things I want to see from the game:

Boyd to have a good game and assert some influence, but also for our midfielders to give Boyd every opportunity to assert his influence - quick ball movement to him one-out or to an open forward line, not to a packed forward line, and don't kick it over his head!

Bev to show some flexibility with Hamling - X-factor up forward? Can he rotate back when Roughy is rucking, but then go forward when Boyd goes in the ruck and Roughy drops a kick behind play? Is he even going to be a high-half-forward, so players like Dickson don't have to play that role and go forward? Hamling might not be a superstar, but his flexibility and utility aspect might come into handy.

Stringer and Boyd developing some chemistry up forward! Boyd taking two or three defenders in a pack marking situation and Stringer using his poise and balance to crumb the ball. Let's see it!

Love to see how Zaine goes. Like most others, I've got "big wraps" on him but it's one thing to have big wraps, but another to start showing some ability at VFL level. One game last year was a sub and another was a game up at Brisbane we'd conceded defeat at the selection table. This is his first real opportunity at AFL level. He's got a major role in a significance game filling big shoes with Morris out.
