Corr is best 22 and if its not a minor injury of any kind then surely its the matchup excuse.

From the presser with Cameron he mentioned that he missed some of the preseason and I see it as the Pies being small and also because of the amount of talks in the lineup one had to go

Going to this game. Just want to see good effort across the park. Be great to see us win more games at the G.

I wussed out because I dont want to go anywhere near an Airport over the Easter weekend.
I joined the Orange army this year, but I'm not active. Got a polo for the $25 fee so can't lose.
Got an email saying Virgin would offer special rates on the team plane to the first 50 orange army members to book, actual discount not mentioned. Would feel a bit guilty taking a seat from a real cheersquad member who puts in the work though. Will wait and see how that pans out, probably ask the club when I plan to go.

Dropping Corr is interesting. I perceive him to be the second pure 'defender' in the team behind Davis - lots of 1%ers (spoils mainly) and a few tackles rather than outmarking his opponent or cut-off marking. Has some speed, but mainly used in closing to his opponent rather than setting up counterattack. Last week with ToJ in the team, we regularly set up with 5 talls in defence (Davis, Corr, ToJ, Tommo, Haynes) along side Whitfield & Shaw. Deledio often went to wing rather than defence. Haynes is our intercept marker, and Tommo is our utility who can be thrown into a few different roles (can but not the best 1-on-1 defender, can stick with a running CHF such as Reiwoldt, can be used on wing). ToJ has a more counterattacking ability and long kicking - I honestly can see some Wilson similarities (but maybe I'm looking for those) - which is a bit at odds with his height. With the smaller Collingwood team & especially the forward line chosen, I can only presume that the selection committee felt that mobility/flexibility was a bit more worthwhile than pure defending. Perhaps Corr's interrupted season was perceived to have impacted his speed a touch, and just meant that others worked better on the match ups.

For the Pies, I can see Reid and Sharenburg lining up in attack (perhaps Darcy Moore being thrown forward instead at some point) as their taller players, with WHE, Stephenson & Crocker the mid-seized forwards. Davis to Reid (or to Moore if he comes forward, unless in a ranging role), Tommo to Sharenburg; the others countered in the group defence of ToJ, Haynes, Whitfield/Shaw. I guess the only risk is if Bucks changes his public stance and puts Moore up front for the whole time, whether we're undergunned in pure defenders against both Moore & Reid, although Davis to Moore & ToJ or Tommo to Reid probably works (and they rotate assignments throughout the game anyway).

I do note that a couple of posters in the pre-season 22 thread had identified Corr as the most likely to make way for ToJ - I didn't agree but you were right and I was wrong.

Horses for courses I think. If were were playing the Bombers or the Crows for example Corr would be critical in my view. TOJ should now settle in for acouple of hundred games though. I do think Wilson leaving gives him an opportunity.

Vic memeber too this year. Just going to turn up and sit near the cheer squad and see how it goes. Going to be odd to watch the team in foreign territory. Years of watching Carlton at the MCG in their VFL heydays as kid will add to the strangeness no doubt.

Corr our makes sense for team balance I guess. But he would be the best defender at plenty of clubs, feels weird.

Lobb into the ruck, Corr dropped, think Leon has learnt the lesson about not going in top heavy. Especially on the MCG against a team whose strength is at ground level.

Should be a cracking game.

Pumped but not as confident for this one as last week. Lobb has a big job controlling Grundy. Our inside mids will be critical, their's are tough. If Lobb can negate Grundy, Cogs and Callan can step up we'll win. Don' much care about the margin. 4 points and fit group going into the Swans next week is what I hope for.

Liking the still day and dry track, hopefully they should benefit GWS's fast running, pinpoint kicking and overall ability to spread. GWS did well last week in the contested ball against a side normally renown for that; hopefully we can bring more of the same, but need to attack harder at the stoppages which were down against the Doggies and which will be a Pies' strength. Nonetheless, our better efficiency last week contrasts to the Pies' poor ball use - but I'd hope that we don't rely on that but rather work on winning the ball at stoppages and contests ourselves, as well as from pressure in all parts of the ground. If our players bring anywhere near their best, we should be able to put Collingwood to the sword at the MCG, which would be a huge morale booster for the boys.

Go GIANTS!

Feel free to post in the GWS forum ... we treat our dual citizens pretty well, including those for whom we're a secondary club.

I will be watching the mighty giants from The camfield. Which is the new massive pub at the base of Optus Stadium

G’day lads need a real quick answer if you can.

Will himmelberg play as a foward or defender today? Or what’s most likely
The word being tossed around is 'hybrid' - so I think you'll see him playing all around the ground - in defence, on a wing at times, and forward as well. Depends on how the game pans out, plus injuries of course. If there's nothing untoward, I'd think probably his forward time is most of all 3, but could still be less than 50%. I'd hazard a guess as defence 25%, wing or elsewhere 25%, forward 50%. Just a guess though.
