Btw, if anyone hasn't watched any of the videos of Big Boy on HawthornFC, I'd definitely recommend them.

Outside of his age, everything about Big Boy screams Captain. He's so well spoken. He's a leader, a teacher, and as a teammate I presume you know he's going to give his all, not just on the field but off the field as well to help everyone around him.

I can't think of any other players at our club that would acquit themselves to the same level across all those areas as Big Boy.

What happened to your 1800 number? Have you started your own enterprise, Ned?

The actuarial tables can get mighty sexy - the 0055 number was a necessity. Steamy life insurance chat for only $1.99 a minute.

Kudos to kenneje who was first to suggest he would be a future captain of hawthorn 😀

I still can't believe how well we've done with this trade. Sav is a good player and will be very good for the Saints, but he's not the type of player that is going to make All Australian or significantly effect our chances at a premiership.

It's kind of fun to think that our midfielders might actually get decent service for the first time since ******* Paul Salmon. I'm absolutely delighted, and I'm telling you all, by round 15 next year you will not be giving one tiny speck of shit about that first round pick. Mcevoy can play, and from all reports is a potential future captain.

McEvoy to me seems like the Politician Leader type, not the follow me into battle Leader type or follow my example, Motivational Leader type, but its all we have and he speaks well to the media, so it works for now.

we have a good team going over there with Port having a few injuries we have a chance, im curious as to why Will Day flew over with the team and who the medical sub will be? cant wait for tonight, hopefully we dont have a crappy 1st quarter which has been a regular issue this year so far.

Serious?
Big Boy is a warrior.
I don't know what a leader looks like if he isn't it.

My only criticism of the Big Boy appointment as captain is it was five years too late.

Can't help but feel he would have been a great choice to replace Hodgey when he was still at the peak of his athletic powers (also would have taken the pressure of Roughy coming back from his cancer treatment).

Bit stiff on a bloke that leaves it all on the line pretty much every time he goes out there. If he didn't play tough leader style football he wouldn't need to bandage his head every game.

In addition to him getting a chance to visit friends and family in SA, it will be a great opportunity for him to sit in the coaches box (assuming he does) given he hasn't played a game under Sam this year.

Yeah have no idea where Davo got that take from.

Is as brave/courageous as they come BigBoy.

Few years ago when we started to decline. Bigboy was the true lead by example player out there and why he should've been captain 5 years ago.

Think we'll be up against it today, we'd have to keep it tight to have much of a chance and I don't see that being our mantra anymore. Happy to be proven wrong, however.

You’ll only get beaten if you believe you can’t win.

Let’s believe in ourselves, come out hard and with our never say die approach, come out triumphant when the final siren sounds.

Hawks by 2 goals. Wingard to kick the winner.

He has. I would be using him sparingly at centre bounces. Hate the thought of Lycett and co using him as a step ladder. I hope Mitchell instructs Noodle to belt the ball goalward at any opportunity from centre bounces and get the ball going our way. We may be in for a world of pain if we try to finesse the ball to our midfielders from the tap out. In this scenario I can Port having a field day.

The first qtr is the issue and will be the issue. If the crowd get their chance it will be good night.

This could get ugly but stranger things have happened.

The start is key. We need to hang in there and be within range at halftime unlike in our practice games.

I'll be happy with a competitive showing but really have no idea how it will go. Will Port re establish themselves as top 4 contenders or are there cracks in their dam wall.
