Side looks alright.

They probably had 1 too many defenders last week so swapping one for a SF works structurally.

Then Langford for Edwards as a straight swap.

Def McKay Reid prior red McGrath Roberts and Sheil

Wing Martin Dursma Jones

Mids Merrett Caldwell Durham Tsatsas Hobbs

Ruck Bryan

Forwards Draper caddy Edwards Perkins Kako Gresham

Sub Menzie

Looks pretty well balanced

Feel like Prior might be the matchup. Only gives away 3cm on Tex & Fogerty and we don’t have to sacrifice Redman’s run off half back.

I’d suggest he’d go to Fogerty, McKay to Thilthorpe & Reid to Tex
Prior will get torn apart if that’s who they go with. If he’s on fogarty, fogarty will kick 8. He couldn’t get body on players like ginnivan, how the hell is he meant to body a brick that is fogarty. I’d be going with Reid on thil, McKay on fogarty. Redman on Tex

Yeah I don’t think it’s a great matchup, but I don’t think there is one on paper either. Redman on Tex you’d at least be backing on him running off Tex, but Tex is still strong enough to cause him a lot of issues.

It’s just what I think they might be thinking & It’s why Hayes to me was the obvious choice for this week based on matchups.

More on his disposal. Cost us but not the only one. Hopefully he picks up the pace of the game the more he plays.

I do love his toughness.
He had 3 kicks and two were clangers with one on the full. It was not great but I would not say he cost us. One on the full and a turnover deep in defence v setting up two goals (should have been three but Caldwell slipped over) and the defensive work he did.
He has to be better with his disposal for sure but he was very good by hand last week. Just didn’t get the few kicks right.
Could cost him a list spot going forward but no way the leave him out while he is top 2 or 3 for pressure and tackles as well as a couple of goal assists.

ADELAIDE INS: Peatling, Walker, Neal-Bullen, Rankine, Cumming, Milera, Worrell, Crouch, Draper, Curtin

Menzie has had a good pre season but he is still pretty poor below the knees for a small bloke. Did like the fact his pressure looked a lot better against the Dogs.
That's good to hear re pressure, not fussed if he's not snagging goals as long as he brings more pressure to our forward 50 area

No issue with Menzie getting a run - if he can bring his 2023 form/pressure happy days.
Good to see Laul in the emergencies he might surprise a few people if he was a late in and played on a wing. I think he’s the sort of player that may do better in the senior team than the reserves…
I’m pretty confident of a win- the Crows haven’t won at the G since 1997…!!

I genuinely don't think there are a lot of options at this point. Despite not an insanely lengthy injury list, we're pretty much playing everyone available who isn't youth, Goldstein or Setterfield (Think there is even a ? on his fitness too).

After seeing the team play last week I do not believe we have the balance or game style available to achieve success this week. Adelaide were hot as hell and their fast start killed the Saints. They looked a very well balanced side across the field, moreso than Essendon.

That balance comes in the form of new additions Peatling and Neil-Bullen, whilst players like Matt Crouch, Jordan Dawson and the emerging Jake Soligo in the midfield were absolutely dominant. Jordan Dawson just does whatever he wants. I love watching him play.

As for their defence, that was as good a performance as you'll see. Mark Keane along with Rory Laird and a vastly underrated Josh Worrell also showed that back line is incredibly good. All of them had 20 plus disposals. They don't have a defence that shits itself or runs itself into trouble. They use the ball with intelligence. Hard to imagine an Essendon team doing that I gotta say.

As for Rankine up forward, he was in elite form with Fogarty, Thilthorpe and Rachele all providing goals.
It's genuinely no wonder they won by 60 plus points. They have multiple options available to them.

All that said, in my humble opinion, this Adelaide team is VASTLY superior to last years and is going to be incredibly difficult to play against for any team this year. They play an exciting watchable brand of footy & will absolutely play finals this season.

They won the 1998 flag?

Yeah I'm trying to get my head around this. Looking at their lineup (particularly up fwd) they look intimidating - but last year they sucked. Is their list really that different?
