Review Round 2 Postgame - Loss Against Sydney at Home

Bcs it was after the siren kick punch out is already next play...doesn't count

That is only if it was by the attacking team. The defending team can still rush it through for a point if they are dumb enough to do it.

On the Jackson not getting back point, I noticed for quite a bit of the second half that he wouldn't get forward either. There is always a ruckman on the line when a shot is being taken and I remember thinking multiple times "where the hell is Jackson?". I don't know if he was gassed or not but he seemed to just want to stay between the arcs except when he was resting forward.
The guy literally solo rucked almost the entire game, if there is one guy that can be forgiven for being completely gassed late, it is Jackson.

The video is much more damning of the same players everyone is banging on about on here, Freddie and Sharp.

It also highlights that the late one on one Cox lost is such a massive over reaction on here, Stone is absolutely correct, the way the rest of the team is playing is making life so hard for the defenders. Absolutely unforgivable that Freddie is being stepped inside so easily.

Always good to listen/watch analysis of a game and what they could of done better that might of won the game

A game is made up of moments & if you as an individual don’t take them offensively or defensively that’s the result. It becomes even more glaring in the last 3 minutes & it’s pretty clear despite the talent that this group has it is not mature enough or willing to work hard enough to take those moments.
The Voss moment wasn’t included, but that is an old fashioned coach killer.

Writing in your locker ‘immortals’ is one thing, doing the work required to be one is another. Players get the blame on here regularly but in the next breath ‘it’s not really their fault because it’s a shit game plan’
It may be a shit game plan, but the coaches don’t control those moments, the players do.

Yep. Its these things that many don't see defensively and I don't think it's isolated to just this game. True tackling is important but other defensive acts like guarding space and corralling is also important.

The way tackle count is taken as the measure of defensive effort is frustrating. How is that Freddie allowed himself to get stepped? Because he shifted from coralling and keeping the runner along the boundary, to step into the oppo’s path and apply physical pressure. He went to tackle.

Also we don't know who is told to tackle and who guards space. If they all went in for the tackle when it does come out there'd be so much free oppo

as bad as Voss was he did a much better job than Amiss at getting into positions and actually generating shots at goal.

No way Cox should move forward. Our forward pressure is bad enough as is. Drop him and make him earn his spot back. Hasn’t had a good game since 2022.
Disagree there, many occasions Amiss's leads were ignored. At least twice by Voss who proceeded to kick one of them out on the full. We are going absolutely nowhere with WAFL footballers like Voss getting a look in imo.

Same with the umpires. All the recalled bounces costing us the valuable seconds we needed for Amiss to take the mark.

Also allowed the likes of Grundy to wrestle Jackson confident in where the ball would be. Rather than having to react to it bouncing anywhere and Jackson leaping over him to it.

If Sturt was fit it would be him getting on the end of all those chances Voss had, benefiting from Amiss getting the better defender.

Sturt would have kicked three at least against Sydney, enough to be the difference in a close game.

yep. fact is, Amiss, Treacy, Jackson, and Sturt are all accurate kicks. Unfortunately, Sturt was out and Jackson was rucking so Voss had to be used. Missed goals like that are such momentum killers. Luckliy our 4 best KPFs are all great kicks.

Disagree

Sharp is a bang on average kick that very rarely lowers his eyes.

Treacy is a wonderful field kick. I wouldn't be surprised if he set up a decent chunk of Amiss' goals last season
He reminds me a bit of Barry Hall who was also a very good field kick.
