Way too top heavy down back for a smallish forward line without buddy

I like this side. I think we have to play Zerk every week now
The Hooker/Stringer/SMAC forward line is teeming with strange goodness combined with the hard of edge Smith Townsend and thrown in. It's awkward which is a good outcome if you lack out and out brilliance.

That's a tall back line for a Swans team that will have no Buddy or Reid.

How tall are Blakey and McCartin?

Do they play Sinclair/Naismith as a duo?

Zerk every week would help ease the transition from Hurley/Hooker so id love to see him play at least 15 games this year. Guys like Smith, Townsend and Snelling around the half forward line are perfect for Smack and Hooker who will both at least bring the ball to ground if they don't mark it.

Probably. But I think simply having Saad there to play on Papley, when Hayward, Florent and Sam Gray will also be in there a times is a mismatch that will hurt us.

Redman and Ridley would play small wouldn't they?
Hurley, Ambrose and ZT on McCartin, Blakey and the 3rd ruck. The other 3 take the small, though maybe McKenna in for Ridley works better for balance.

Wasn't he ok in round 1? Not sure how he earns AFL games with no reserves.

If he doesn't get games with Derp and.Stewart out (and Hooker forward) I'm not sure when or how he gets games otherwise.
We get Hooker and Ambrose back from round 1. Also McKernan and possibly Stewart. If Hooker goes forward then yes a spot for him. My point was in response to someone saying he plays every game..well yes if form holds up.

Also teams have been given go ahead for scratch matches, so he can find form there if he gets dropped.

no sorry you are wrong

Wait i just read your post and yeah that could work.

Sydney don't remain stagnant which is probably the bigger concern. We won't just be able to stick Saad on Papley for example, as he will go into the middle at times. We couldn't cope with Allir playing in the ruck last time. Let's see if our coaches can keep up.

Heeney will spend considerable time at full forward, so maybe Hurley opposes him.

He is going to have to hold down a KPD position in the next year or 2. The decision comes down to do we want him to have player 30 to 50 games by then or 10.

It's hard not to like Ambrose but he shouldn't keep Zerk out IMO. Sure Ambrose offers us flexibility but that should be his only role in the side now whether it's defense - tagging or forward. Personally I'd have been just as happy for Ambrose to play Townsends role forward. If the club recruited Townsend because they decided he plays a specific role we need forward then I'm not sure what he does there that Ambrose couldn't do - even if that's just to be slightly better than Laverde.
