Hatchard and Marinoff again sharing the 5/4 votes at the top. They're now tied at the top of the coaches votes across the entire competition. Randall and Newman share the 3/2 votes, with Brazill and O'Sullivan picking up a vote each. I thought Brazill was clearly the best on ground for Freo, surprised there was one coach who didn't give her a single vote. I think there's an argument she could have even gone ahead of Newman. But the top three is definitely correct.

Freo didn't score a goal and were smashed for 90% of the game. They're lucky to get any votes TBH. Brazill got most of her touches because the ball lived in our forward 50

True, bit without her we probably kick another 4 or 5 goals.

For all of our territory dominance, our primary forward line kicked exactly one goal. We relied on our mids to get it done.

The Hawks next round will be very interesting. They’ve looked very good especially up front. A real test.

Bates will back for them, but they did cop a couple injuries to Sherriff and Aine McDonagh.

Surely Martin has a used by date as has no intent to actually get the ball just waits for the tackle .
Not a real fan of Waterhouse but least try to get the ball and has reasonable kick.

Martin does try to hunt the ball, but her old approach of going in low and hoping for the high contact free kick doesn't work as well anymore. Players are aware of her lack of size and just get in her way rather than trying to tackle her. She's not particularly quick so she struggles to get outside of the contest, and she can't kick it far, so even in the worse case scenario for the opposition she just moves the ball 15m to another contest.

It's a shame because only a few years ago she was one of my favourite players. But the competition is getting stronger all the time and I think she's close to getting squeezed out, just like Hannah was before her.

If we can find a slippery, quick small she will be replaced, but so far Waterhouse seems to be the only one competing in her lane.
