Leslie all day every day.. still a few more games to bleed Graham if they feel the need
Interesting conundrum. You can mark Leslie's exit papers. He definitely won't be on our list next year.

So do you give a guy that will be on our list next year (and hopefully his career) that has shown a level of improvement in the NEAFL a taste of what AFL is like? And maybe sacrifice the win?

Or do you play Leslie (who has been in very average form FWIW, certainly no better than Graham) to try and get the win?

Or alternatively we don't bring in any true KPD and go for a backline of Burgess, Ballard and Luko? And hope that they can zone off.

albeit minuscule
Why a miniscule chance? Essendon play better footy than Pies at the moment. Pies season seems unravelling a bit, got plenty of injuries like us, confidence is down too. While Suns got a bit of mojo back and Bowes, Martin, Ainsworth improve the team significantly. I say Suns got as good chance as they had against Essendon.

What? I meant bring them in to the AFL side.
I know.
I just don't understand the Club's insistence on these guys running around in a local footy comp
If they're right to play they're right to play IMO
Could argue Ainsworth and Bowes might have meant a W last weekend , instead they're playing NEAFL

It’s more of a managing the injury sort of thing. Rather them throw them straight back into the AFL after a long lay off and risk injuring themselves again, put them through the NEAFL which is a lower speed and intensity and make sure they pull up alright. Rather then risk injuring them going straight back into the fire that is AFL

Spot on mate. We're playing some pretty ordinary football. Injuries have decimated us, add to form over 6+ weeks, even before that had only been playing a good quarter or two to get over the line. Last real 4 quarter performance was Brisbane in round 5 IMO.

Suns could snatch this. Unless the pies come to play and actually start to play well. Definitely 50/50. Either way, should be interesting, and I'll be happy one way or another haha.

Any update on Roughead? I can't believe he was thinking he plays for WB again:)

Terrible concussion. Those kind of symptoms, you know you don't need a concussion test.

Ran laps yesterday and went inside the light session. The real test is friday, but usually with concussion they do give you the week off. But they do have a 9 day gap between last friday and this sunday. So time will tell.

I do hope Pies rest him. Nobody can guarantee that 9 days rest is enough. No symptoms does not mean his brain is fine.

absolutely. It does seem its usually mandatory. Especially when you have symptoms of those words he said, tried to start a fight with his own teammates, and didn't even remember the incident that led to a richmond goal (him fumbling the ball, unlike him).

So are we all expecting Ainsworth, Bowes and Martin to be named in our extended squad today?
Yes I am expecting all three.
However... If i were selecting, Bowes and Martin yes. Ainsworth is harder. to me he was clearly a step behind Bowes in the NEAFL. but on the other hand theres no NEAFL this week, so if you don't play him in the ones he isn't playing.

Good outs - Dew playing things to form

I'd go
- Heron, Ellis, Joyce, Hombsch
- Ainsworth, Bowes, Martin, McLennan / Graham depending on how confident they are with our talls

forward half looks pretty dangerous.

An in form King + Day
Wright going ok - always a chance to get an arm chop or holding free kick and kick a goal or two.
Lemmens, DMac, Sexton, Ainsworth at ground level.

Swallow Miller Fiorini Miles Ainsworth Bowes Martin MacPherson all back and available
Not sure when the last time we've had our first string mid section on the park?
Good question. They all played round 1 but I'm not sure after that.

I still really like our chances in this one. Particularly if we get off to a good start. We just need to make sure that our inevitable lapse that always seems to hit us in the third quarter is limited to 2-3 goals.

Really hoping Dew has the courage to pick Ainsworth, Bowes and Martin because our midfield will definitely stack up if he does. Also, Ballard will have a big task matching up on Mason Cox but I think Burgess/Lukosius will need to help by double/triple teaming when they go deep/high to a marking contest with Cox in the forward 50. Our forward line is probably functioning the best it has for a very long time so I'm not too concerned with that end of the ground.

My final bench would be: Ben Ainsworth, Jack Bowes, Jacob Heron (speed) and Michael Rischitelli.

First up run after returning from injury in round 4 Ainsworth had a nice game. 19 possessions, 1 goal, 6 inside 50's. Let's hope he can do the same again!

Really excited to see some of our young guns back in the fray.
