Pyke was found by Jetta all by himself 30m out from goal. Did everything right but was nothing on Jetta's goal.

Yeah thought as much the old girls bf (who is a flog) does stretch the truth just a little!!lol didn't think it was as good as jettas when it didn't even make the high lights reel!

Just watching a replay of the last 4 minutes, if Hasleby had marked that ball with about 2minutes to go we would have lost. Not sure whose man he was, but the Swans defender was trailing by a good 20 metres. It was possibly Malceski.

Given our dominance at the clearances, I might have backed us to kick another. The kick would also have been no sitter, it was right on the line, so the angle would have been horrible. And Hasleby isn't known for his prodigious banana-ing.

But yes, it's lucky we didn't have to find out!

Watching the replay now,Jako is a complete toss can anyone be more anti swans.Everthing is a free kick for freo and when the same happens for the swans its not.Glad I had the tv volume down yesterday and listening to mmm

Wait? From what I heard, Jacko is anti-Freo, from all the Freo supporters I know, that bitch and whine about him.

He's just pro-WA. It doesn't matter who they play, he will just focus completely on what whichever WA team is doing well, doing wrong or needs to do better to win the game.

Great player, horrible commentator. He is on the AA panel too, would love to know how he goes in those meetings. He was such a great player he would have to have some insightful comments on such issues, but he sure doesn't bring many of them to his commentary.

He's anti-Freo as far as the Derbies go, but he's pro-WA, or at least so WA-centric that he can only focus on WA teams, so when it's a WA team, including Freo, versus a non-WA team, he just cheerleads. It's ridiculous, and it's not just against the Swans.

I think some people are underrating Hanners' game just because of a few poor kicks. Make no mistake, he was fantastic. 38 touches is a huge performance, and he played a part in a huge number of our forward thrusts. Massive contributor.

Spot-on.

Hannebery and Jack showed class, diamond hardness and leadership. Their ability to get hands on the ball and get it out of packs kept us going all day; Kennedy was close, and McGlynn ... we had several senior players down or quiet, yet still managed to smash the clearances against a good young side on its home patch.

Most commentators now don't talk about Hannebery and the Rising Star because he no longer plays like a hid. You can have Scully, Trengove, Martin, Bastinac, Melksham and all those other top-rated kids, I'd pick Hannebery first every time. He's a certainty to win the award, and rightly so.

This was a milestone win that will mean far more than just securing a 2010 finals berth.

Oh, and if we're talking midfield dominance, include Mumford. I can't remember such a big bloke (and this is a footballer regarded as just a big fat kid 2-3 seasons back) covering so much ground and having such an influence away from ruck contests. Hannebery, Mumford, Jack and McGlynn were the four best players on the ground.

They said on the Footy Show today that he would have to be favourite.Martin would be a shoe in but he is ineligible.

I disagree. Martin has been good in some games, but was cold in quite a few. Inconsistency at his age/stage is understandable, that's why I rate Hannebery so highly. Even in his quiet games he contributes.

I'm probably being parochial myself, but the only reason Martin would be a "shoo-in" would be Victorian hype and bias.

Great game, not just good but really, a great game and now that I've had a chance to review the video.........

Couple of things that stood out (among many others)

McVeigh was quiet(ish) earlier but each touch is such quality. Loved his little tap out of the pack that would not even count as a stat. His handball (while sitting on his butt) to put the ball in front of Jesse's boot a metre from goal was inspired. It probably saved White's butt too.

Mattner's defence was solid and fearless, especially in the first quarter. Big solid bumps and reckless marks running back with the flight of the ball. I'd like to see his knockers spend a few minutes in his shoes. His drive forward was especially telling this week as it has been for the past few with Malceski a bit down. The run off our half-back line was telling on Subiaco. Tadgh was superb.

Moore is not only as tough as his nickname suggests (Bulldog) but he has very nice skills in the forward 50, be it kicking goals, tackling aggresively or pin-pointing passes to other players. Much under-rated player.

More forward pressure this week, our smaller forwards were on the ball, marking, kicking goals, chasing and tackling hard. Jesse White needs to get some marking confidence and to chase and tackle. He was on the end of some very good delivery this week and made a dog's breakfast of it. Not sure what's going on there, is it confidence ? We know he can play well but he continues to frustrate. I hope he kicks into a higher gear soon. Maybe he needs to get angry - can we have BBBH coach him ? When he gets himself upfield he has more impact. Is he just not destined to be a forward ?

Finally, I can't help admiring Jack more every time he plays. He is becoming Gablett-esque in his abilities. My money is on him for a future Brownlow.
