The pair could be in line to replace forward Jake Riccardi, who underwent surgery this week.

The 24-year-old underwent surgery on a dislocated finger with consultation with the specialists determining that he is expected to miss the remainder of the home and away season.
Shocked, Riccardi out for the rest of the season. :(

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Hopefully give keefe a run and see what he can do offer for a month and put the challenge to Cadman to start to own the forward 50

Don’t think Gruzewski offered enough without the ball to have him and cads in the same team

Replacing Riccardi's inconsistent (and incredibly frustrating) form with Keefe doesn't inspire the greatest confidence but it'll have to do.
They’re pretty fair words to describe Jake’s form, but he does have the potential to kick 3 or 4 goals when he’s on which is handy (albeit rare).

With Lachie we probably get better ruck output and more size up forward, minus the goalkicking prowess.

It puts a lot of pressure on Hogan and Greene to score, but I guess they’ve had that pressure all year anyway.

I think this could help Cads …. He’ll be targeted more and expected to be the 2nd tall target

Riccardi out but Brown still can’t crack the squad, he’s really slipped down the pecking order.

Given that Riccardi is usually the chop-out ruck option, it must put Keeffe strongly in the running for a recall.
And gives Keefe a good chance to convince the coaches to give him an extension of his contract which expires this year

Everyone wanting Keefe in....why?

Keep our potentcy forward intact. It's been working well.
The mids just need to give them more service.
I like the change. Gruz kicked 5 on the weekend and Keefe isn't an 'effective' ruck anyway.
Don't clog the spot where Hogan is getting 1v1s. Neither Keefe or Hogan like kicking from anywhere further than around 35-40. Cadman and Gruz can roost it still.

Both Cadman and Gruz can kick 5 goals in the ressies, but that does not translate to the AFL. As we saw in the last match Gruz played.

Keeffe is the obvious replacement for Riccardi's role, will provide a stronger and taller presence in the forward line and provides the ruck chop-out that Riccardi was doing.

My thoughts exactly which is what my post was alluding to.

When he's on he's very on (rare) and when he's not. Have been hoping to see him more of him being on this season but hasn't quite come to pass.

Riccardis form might have been impacted by the finger injury.
The coaches hopefully have a better idea than I do.
Keefe could get in Hogan's way, but they probably aren't in the forward line together that much I hope.

Obviously Hawks are going really well and have a settled line-up but they are undersized down back. While Keefe won't be expected to take many marks they would still have to pay some attention to him up forward .Who is hawks second ruck when Meek rests?..For these reasons Keefe makes sense to me although I would gave liked Gru to get another chance.

Keeffe was in the team when Jesse kicked 9 goals against Essendon late last year. He may have a limited skill set but he’s still a seasoned pro who knows his role.
He's played 71 games for us, for a total of 33 wins, 38 losses, but if you leave out the write-off years of 2020 and 2022, it's 40 games for 23 wins and 17 losses, and 3 of those wins were finals - PF (2019), (EF & SF) 2023. He's not been a liability by any means.

Most of those games were played as a KPB though, where he would usually take on the opposition’s biggest forward. In his newer role as a KPF/ruck, he was given a specific role to do and did it well.

You don’t need 23 superstars to win a flag. Who would have thought Mason Cox and Billy Frampton would have been the two key forwards in a premiership side.

Surely Keefe plays a negating role on Sicily
