For me this game is the relevant barometer game for the lions. Adelaide are top 5 cluster and we were always going to get thrashed.

Carlton, while performing better in the ladder, are closer to our actual division and we should at least be competitive. I imagine the pressure on Leppa to be removed/quit immediately will mount if we cop a ten goal flogging.

However if the players are really behind Leppa we could also see a scrappy fight to the death win as per the Essendon game. Will raise interesting questions re Leppa's tenure if we do.

I am actually starting to get interested in this game and have stopped looking for excuses to stay away.

Go the lions.

Tank for the love of God tank........
We're now at a stage where winning would have a bigger negative impact on the club long term than losing.

While the rest of the second post was valid and constructive....

I just wanted to say that this attitude worked well for Melbourne didn't it? How long did it take them to change and recover from it??

I whole heartedly disagree on this and that this could do far more worse damage short and long term to the team than anything that has happened so far.....

And that win at the end of last season to avoid the wooden spoon achieved exactly what?

Leppa's dead and only a major miracle will save him. I very much doubt the players are behind him, players will always say that publicly to do otherwise is suicide, but the performances and continual 10 goal+ losses speak volumes for where they are really at.

The faceless almost always silent President we have refused to guarantee his position post the final match stating a full review will be done. That is basically standard code for he's dead we just haven't worked out who we want to replace him.

I know he is gone, just interested to see if there are still supporters who might have a few things to say.

Honestly not sure anyone would be upset if he got sacked, definitely won't be causing the divide that sacking Voss did. Player retention under Leppitsch has actually been no better than under Voss, we've lost Redden, Patfull & Aish so far, which goes a long way to shooting down the argument about Leppa being better at keeping players. This year Rockliff is a possibility to leave and a couple of others, so that happens he is definitely worse than Voss on every single criteria imaginable.

Oh boy, here we go.... The argument that player retention under Leppa has been no better than Voss is so wrong, and I don't even get how you think the argument has a leg to stand on.

Redden - traded as he fell down the pecking order of mids and wanted a fresh start. Fair enough and EVERY coach has had this happen to them. The fact he is barely best 22 for WCE should say a lot.
Aish - I would bet that he'd have left under any coach. Didn't want to play for Brisbane.
Patfull - LOL. Patfull wanted to move to Sydney post-AFL, and was happy to stay with us if we couldn't find a good deal. You can't blame Leppa for Joel wanting to live somewhere other than Brisbane.
Rockliff - Not gone but most likely will be, regardless of coach, NOT because Rockliff wants to leave. Please explain how that connects to Leppas poor player retention.

Compare that to those lost under Voss and it is not even comparable. If Leppa stays on next year and we lose gun young talents, THEN you'd have a leg to stand on.

A hell of a lot more for mental attitude and morale than tanking does.

Then you lost me, as Nunez pointed out, about the player retention. Player retention under Leppa has been fantastic and those that left are because of the reasons he pointed out.

Rest assured that there are plenty of supporters and players who would/will be upset if Leppa is sacked. Most of the players love Leppa. And like Voss, Leppa is suffering from the same/similar issues and if they don't fix them, so will the next coach the board appoints. The old saying is true: Secret to success is surrounding yourself with good people. Unfortunately, Vossy & Leppa have been let down by lack of funds/support from the AFL who now realise a PP is not what will fix our problems. New facilities will make a big difference. I cant believe the ignorance in some people when they say that we won 3 in a row with the same facilities. THAT WAS MORE THAN 10 YEARS AGO FFS! Many things have changed since 2006 people. HELLO!
Specialist coach's wanted urgently please. Lynchy's interview was fantastic earlier today but he didn't mention he is working down at the Suns helping to further develop their forwards into AFL footballers. Lynchy should be at the Gabba helping Schacke & Hipwood, not down the Goldy!!! Lions need the same assistance as the Suns & GWS receive. Until then I am convinced that there is no better coach out there than Leppa right now. Its like been given a job to paint a fence without a brush. Never gonna get done.

Subjective logic ...

Today is a public holiday in Brisbane (show day) -> Today *feels* like a Saturday -> Today *is* Saturday -> there is a game on today -> getting ready to watch game -> (see below)

-> Objective logic ...

It is actually Wednesday and the Lions and the Blues are not going to play their game today just because I am sitting down ready to watch them!

Subjective + Objective resolution

Sometimes I am an idiot :( :$

Just commenting today I cant believe it was 15 years ago

Coach has said many of the players are waiting for the end of the season. It begs the question how fired up will they be for the game this weekend? Carlton have been a bit hot and cold this season but usually very disciplined and I can see them breaking us apart.

You may be convinced that there is no better coach out there than Leppa for the job at hand that he has done but it doesn't explain why the senior players have all regressed under him (Voss had the same facilities and he got Hanley and Martin iirc to be at their peak), the players are all extremelly lazy providing no defensive pressure, the structure of our game plan seems to change every few weeks meaning our players have no idea what they are doing, he isn't fast doing tactical changes during game play and he doesn't put a player in our backline when it is so obvious that they are getting destroyed and need help. I don't believe he has got them doing the basics correctly (handballing, tackling, kicking etc).

Can you blame them? I think most fans have been feeling this way for a couple of months.

Not expecting much although Carlton haven't been in great form either. Their older players should run out the season better than most of our team.

Hanleys hips are ****ed and Martins form hit in 2014, Leppas first year.

Where the hell do you get that from? It was his manager speaking to other clubs about a move, so it is him who wants out and that would be because of the way the club is being run and coaching.

Aish wasn't like by Leppitsch he wasn't played in his best position and constantly yo-yo'd. That is Leppitsch and that is why he checked out early in the season, what's the point in staying if you aren't feeling you are wanted.

What is the difference between Patfull and Polec? Polec had been injury riddled for his whole time at Brisbane and wanted a change to a more comfortable place.
