Meek plays this time against a sore Briggs, we win in that department

O’halloran isn’t kicking 4 again.

Both sides will have dominant patches, but we seem to kick large amounts of goals very quickly now and our defence holds up well whilst getting bombarded

For those saying we have to travel back to back weeks, so do the Giants.

The thing that is winning us games is our superior run and hence superior pressure. Finn allows us to lean into that that strength even further. He’s also shown he can contribute when he is subbed in.

That’s the one downside of the push to bring on board Barass/Battle. If it’s at the cost of a runner it diminishes one of our important strengths.

We’ve been 7+ goals up when Finn has come on, he’s not made any difference when it mattered.

We saw in the first quarter last week how hard it was for us to move the ball when we weren’t dominating the midfield play, that’s why we are better off with Gunston playing than Finn as sub.

Crows backline is shit but for a quarter they dominated field position, we were lucky to not be 5 goals down at quarter time. Giants have a quarter or two like that and we lose, we need to be able to halve contests up the ground.

No idea how Barrass and Battle are relevant to this game or Finn being selected, but ok. Seems this is a Barrass/Battle discussion thread now.

Kelly and Coniglio are out as per their board

Not the players they once were and not sure either even played last week but thought I would post either way as I think they were 50/50

Well, their travel is an hour down the highway...
A big test for us, on a scale with the Geelong game.
Plenty of matchwinners still on their list..

We need to give Finn some
Midfield time in the run home. If any of Worps, Nash, Day or Newk go down , he is the man that needs to step up inside.

No Jelly or Coniglio is good for us, obviously.

They are reliant on Whitfield and Callaghan generatng run for them. I don't think you can shut Green down, so curbing either of them, especially the former, would go a long way to winning this.

Daniel has become a premier small forward this season too. We'd need to mind both him and Greene.
Is it an unpopular opinion to say that I don't like them missing key guys? I know we need to win but I also want us to beat teams at their best, it's much better preparation.

Yes.

We can only play who we have in front of us. Next week we'll play carlton without SDK. It might be disappointing but what can be done about it.

Do the omissions opposition teams have had over the past fourteen weeks diminish every victory we've had in that time?

In my mind, no. Not at all.

Every team plays Carlton without SDK. ;)

Yeah, it's the other one, isn't it?

Anyway, the point still stands. It's not something we can control, so we just focus on the players that are out there.

Beating the crows without Dawson didn't upset me in the slightest.

Disagree.

Ward and Mackenzie would be given the spot before Finn.

I'd even consider giving Hustwaite another crack before playing Finn in a midfield role (other than as a negating tagger).

Yeah I'd rather we beat a full strength side, especially if it's a close game and we beat them in the middle, naturally you would wonder what the result would be if they had two of their three best midfielders playing.

But on the other hand we absolutely need this win, so every advantage is welcomed.

(same could be said if our forward line doesn't fire, with Lewis being out)

Still got flashback of the Cats smalls getting out the back a few weeks ago.
Hogan is a gun, and Daniels/ Bedford are no slouches, speed wise.

I want to believe, but right now I'm shitting bricks.

I reckon having Sis in our back half makes a huge difference to our structure, and hopefully we’ve learnt from letting our small defenders get sucked up to contests as much as we did early in that game.

They have all the weapons to be the best team in the league but unless their form drastically improves we’re a huge chance.

Also GWS have a six day break.

This is way too last minute, but if anyone has any tickets my family are desperate to get to the game. Guy who bought their groups tickets decided to sell them out from under them for cash once it sold out. Sorry if this is against the rules, but I gotta try for them.

Their two 14 year olds are quick and skillful too. Looking forward to this and hoping for no injuries
