Would love to know what Knevitt has done wrong.

Played the best game of his young career and hasn't been seen in the senior team since. Not even an emergency either.
Dempsey played his best game as well. Giving the current underperforming players yet another chance to redeem themselves. After recent weeks I've lost my enthusiasm. Port would have to play very badly for us to get a win, even at Geelong's home ground.

Yawn. Shopping Sav to the power to pump up his price I suppose.

Could easily backfire if he doesn't have a good game - he doesn't seem to have been in good form since his return from injury, so interesting to see if he can turn it around

Or does he not want to embarrass his future teammates 😉

Also might be a view that if we make a final we might get smashed and it damages the kids who haven't got continuity to date. Better to just get games alongside each other to build some cohesion and get them set for next year

Perhaps......but where's the incentive?

We have a midfield getting beaten each week, a side low on form, players injured.......and we regurgitate Sav.

I'm curious where the spark comes from

Things haven't been working lately, why not try something different and giving some youngsters who've been showing good form at VFL level a chance - surely they couldn't do any worse than our senior guys the last couple of weeks...

Disappointing inclusions for this game, if you are a young player at Geelong you would be looking elsewhere in 2024. Port might inflict Geelong's first 10 goal home defeat seen for a long time

Sav isn't without redeeming features, but I don't think he can share a backline with sdk. I can see the logic, I just think we lose more upsetting the backline than we get out of playing Henry forward when we have a 200cm+ sprinter coming off 20+ disposals, 11 marks, and 3 goals on the 2s.

Seems we're scheduling the spark for march

This.

New blood might bring some fresh enthusiasm, run and vigour to a team that is sore and tired. It'd also be a reward for the promise they've shown in the VFL.

As for the result, it's hard to see it being detrimental, as you say.

But I can see the selection being detrimental to their motivation....... they've been overlooked for the same tired players, and a guy whose credentials are questionable. It'd be disappointing for them.

Let's hope the Port players had the half cooked chicken curry on the plane over.

Ports changes - and I know we're scratching our heads at our selections, but imaging kicking 4 goals one week, the next opponent is your former team and you get omitted

The changes reflect the fact that we are still in contention for the finals and the coaches are keeping the faith. Sav deserves his spot with J Henry, Rohan and SDK to share the Blitz role I would think. The frustrating part for me is that each week we get badly beaten in the midfield and we continue to not make a change there. (MOC played most of last week and is a defensive mid at best.) Given the the ongoing mid field problems I would make Parf the sub. We will see.

Sav is disruptive to our backline imo, and he's no good up forward.

He can only be in the side as window dressing for Port, surely.

I thought Scott would display a bit of courage and forward thinking by bring Knevitt and Neale in, but not to be.

Id play Esava full forward - one out in the goal square - hes good overhead mark - he has improved this year as a footballer - evidenced by the 10 coaches votes he received in a game earlier in the year

I know in previous seasons he couldnt hold down CHF - but Hawkins is out for a couple of weeks so Geel need someone to play FF - theres no guarntee that Jack Henry will do any better - and that unsettles the defence

SDK should be ok for Dixon -Marshall is a big unit - but Kolo seems to do allright against them - eg Jack Reiwoldt

I expect a big game from Dangerfield - after having his colours lowered last week - blooody Joel Corey - i heard Longmuir - boasting that Corey told him to put Young into the midfield on PD because he plays midfield and forward

If Geel can somehow cover Blicavs absence - then they did beat Melb down their - if they play like that - they have to be some chance - as long as they play with a bit of spirit - then ones who have paid to watch have got their moneys worth

Could they be playing Sav up forward ?
Hasn't played as a forward for over 12 months, didn't seem to play forward during last weeks VFL though he did spend time in the ruck

And his one shot on goal this year went out on the full - looked like he hadn't really been practising his goal kicking
