Yeah I posted someone else's opinion, the two bloody coaches that manage both teams that played! Lol. They were coaches association votes. If anyone has the right to judge how the players went, it's them.

We know that Dimma doesn't rate him, hence why Miles has been dropped. Dimma isn't impartial like the AFL stats and therefore your evidence will be stricken from the record. :sunglasses: Therefore my opinion that Miles was our second best mid that night stands :smirk:

Every media outlet acting like Geelong's assistants, how can Geelong beat Richmond?

Doing my head in.

They have beaten us the last twelve times yet all angsty over the prospect of a Tiger win tomorrow, unbelievable stuff.

We as Richmond supporters are not getting ahead of ourselves at all....

For example...

I just upgraded my interstate membership to Maurice Rioli Club for $150 guaranteeing me a Grand Final Ticket!

Before I get slammed... the reasoning is that IF Richmond made it, the GF would be hottest bloody ticket in town in decades.

And bugger if I would pay $1500 to LOL Norf for a tastless bacon and egg roll and a crap seat at the GF.

If we make it - AWESOME I made the right choice and I'll likely be sitting with other champion Tiger supporters.

If we don't make it - never mind I just gave $150 to the Club I bloody love!

Now all I've got to do is tell the wife:eek:

Was thinking of doing exactly the same....with the exact same justification ;)

The truth is that they just like talking about Richmond.

Put on League Teams, they talk tactics on how to beat Richmond then talk about us for one minute, same on SEN,commentators all round tabling how can Geelong beat Richmond.

ffs, aren't we the underdogs playing down there?

They can see what's coming and the Dynasty that's being built.

Same. Its a Shame normal finals arent though.

So I suppose it's not guaranteed just priority access.

TLDR - it's not about form, it's not about winning this week, it's about preparing the best possible match-fit squad for our first final. Finally, I think we win well against Geelong this week.

---

AFL coaches say things like "one week at a time" and "we move on pretty quickly, we now focus on [next week's opponent]". That gives supporters the perception that in the AFL, decisions are made on the basis of what gives us the best chance to win this week's game.

In reality, clubs plan to win enough games to make finals and then shift their thinking to winning finals. We've achieved part 1. Every decision is now based on winning finals.

For example - I think the club would have begun serious planning for the Geelong game in early July. Soldo coming in when he did wasn't a random decision. He came in against Brisbane with the intention of giving him a block of games to have him "peaking" this week. There was no way we could go into the game against Geelong with only one ruck and one key forward.

Similarly, forward planning is why Mr. Megan Gale is playing VFL this week. They will want the biggest possible "match fit" squad to choose from, so the next 3 weeks everyone who is half-fit plays VFL and either gets through or is no longer in contention. If Hampson is injured in the next few weeks, it is no loss because he couldn't be considered for an AFL final unless he had some solid VFL time behind him. Same decision is imminent on Griffiths and Conca - it's now or never.

Finally, for everyone who points to VFL form and demands that we "drop Grigg for Lennon" - please try and recognise that form in the VFL counts for very little at this time of year. By now, the selection committee is very familiar with what every player can and can't do. We need to fill almost every spot in the 22 with a player who has certain attributes. Players like Lennon and Lloyd are a poor fit for our AFL gameplan, which relies on small forwards who run crazy patterns to get into dangerous spots inside the F50. Caddy is the "second string" Riewoldt AND the "second string" Martin - that's why he plays every week. That's why Bolton and Stengle have played - they fill a nippy small forward role when needed. Lennon and Lloyd are better players than Bolton and Stengle, but they are not the right type of player for what we need right now.

We'll win this week because the Cats have be forced to significantly change the balance of their team. I think they are too tall and too "offensive". I expect to see Harry Taylor start forward. They have been trying to fix their lack of defensive pressure all year, but they couldn't play kids against Rance, Astbury and Grimes.

If we can win the midfield battle, bring the ball to ground in our forward 50 and attack off half-back, we can kick a lot of goals against this team.

Cheers.

Yeah like normal members. Only GF is the garanteed one.
