Happy to play them when they can contribute injured but we should’ve learnt what happens when Gunston plays underdone from his pre training block form

Yeah it's a concern. I assume we'll try him and if he is struggling we sub him.

Edit: Gunston got subbed.

I think, given the fact we have decided we don’t defend again after 8 weeks pretending we do, we are going ok to still be in it.

They are just hungry AF - gotter remember it’s their elimination final.

2 areas.

Defence. Horrible. Just.. no. Half tackles, ball watching.

Clearance - WTF!? we are getting slaughtered in there. If we do get it, we fumble or turn it over. When they get
it, ZERO defensive structure, just and easy, routine, exit.

2 areas of MASSIVE improvement and we have just given up on both in recent weeks.

Still confident we will win this, but… just forget making or winning a GF. Just put a massive line through it.

You can’t be so untrustworthy in so many areas and fluke your way through a finals series.

Trying to figure out what's really going on with the team. It's not as if there's been a massive personnel turnover to earlier in the year.

Oscar has struggled in the ruck, Dunkley's defensive efforts probably not his usual standard, Neale is clearly not at his best and Ashcroft's poise is gone. So the midfield drop-off has seen us really get smashed around the middle the last month, which doesn't help things.

Defensively I don't think much has changed to be honest, it's the one area that's been alright as well and we've scored well from our defensive half transitions. Probably missing Kiddy a bit, as it allows Wilmott to be more defensive minded. Not noticing too much change from the forward setup either, some weeks a couple put more effort in (Linc in Freo) and others they slack off a bit but that's par for the course from forwards.

For me most of our issues just stem from an engine room that is not willing to put the defensive efforts in and not impacting on the scoreboard either. Dunkley/Neale are not known goal scorers, they're not overly fast either and if they're not getting first use for our outside players, we get smashed. There's a reason we looked better when Bailey went into the midfield, a bit more pace and elusiveness to actually BRING the ball out of the stoppage, rather than a quick dish off which can lead to turnovers.
