I'm not convinced Roberts can run out a full game yet. We can't afford players to be spent by 3qtr time, especially this year. We shouldn't need him vs the Suns, better to get him ready as possible for the other 2.
Yeah, agreed. Still working his way back to full fitness - but having said that its clear to all that Mills is impeded by his hand yet he's still playing:speechless:

There's some blokes you play at lets say 70%. Time and a place for it though not a fan of the tactic in a big final.

Just watching the video, I interpreted a few things:

When asked if Stephens will play a full game, John suggested he might (which doesn't really say much) and was quick to mention the names of Roberts and Corey Warner as other options as well. I might be over interpreting but it would sound like John really rates the latter two more so than what Stephens is currently producing; he specifically mentioned Corey Warner's experience will be better for him next year. Didn't really speak much about how Stephens went in the game either...

John is very fond of McLean, most likely because of his versatility and work rate, and sounded very keen to keep him in the side beyond this year. And lastly, super disappointed with Ladhams but aren't we all...

Agree with pretty much all of this. I get the feeling that they're OK for Stephens to play the sub role, but prefer Roberts and Warner in the 22.

Really frustrating isn't it - their lazy bastards because Buddy is low hanging fruit.

True, but honestly I didn't mind it as much as usual. Opportunity to emphasise the caravan moves on.

His Tuesday interviews are always more expansive and relaxed and longer. He was great on Gulden hype. Obviously loves the kid. His admiration for HMac also came through. Gave Buller and Roberts plugs.

I think at the moment he rates them:
Roberts
Stephens
Warner
But expects Warner to come on strongly.
He doesn't want anyone to be considered an automatic selection.

I got the exact same interpretation on all those points.

Just as an aside, how ***ing stupid was the question about playing Buller to give him AFL experience in case he's needed later on... We are two points out of the eight and a journalist thinks we're gonna start blooding rookies to give them experience. Horse did so well to keep it together and give the most obvious answer, which was, "We'll play our best team."

Hayden works so hard. Only he and Gulden work that hard apparently. They literally have to drag Errol off the training track and I am led to believe similar to Hayden. Coaches love coachable players. Coaches love players who will give them effort every game 100 minutes.

I am hoping Hayden signs for 4 or 5

Went to the Matildas game at homebush last night. Electric atmosphere, never experienced it even during afl/nrl games. The gameplay itself was also pleasing to watch due to limited stoppages & no overdramatic reaction from the players. It was good free flowing soccer with an excellent crowd to support the girls. Transport via special event bus meant it was easy to get to/from the stadium too.

Wonder if the SCG will have the matilda's game on after the afl?
Yeah, it was refreshing to watch the Matildas game without players diving over in agony.

Hopefully the school yards of today no longer have kids saying ‘stop crying like a girl’ and now have kids saying ‘stop crying like a multi-millionaire grown male soccer player who has been touched by feather”.

Agree with your last two observations.

On the first, I think Horse generally mentions a number of players when asked if someone might come in. I think it is a combo of him wanting to ensure all players on the fringe feel recognised and remain hungry, and also not to give away plans to the opposition. But also don’t disagree that Horse probably has a softer part of his heart for Roberts and Corey.

It would be funny if they literally did have to drag Errol of the training track.

And then he pretends to be complying, only to dash off to run more laps.
