I'm not sure even Naughton could save our defence when the diabolical nature of our zone defence just continually allows us to cut us to ribbons.

Not picking Schache was also a piss take.

Schache just as likely to have no touches but without providing any physical impact in contests or ruck support.

Jeez Schache gets singled out a lot on this board for lack of physical impact. But he’s harder at it than Bailey Williams, who seems exempt from criticism here.

Our inability to apply an forward pressure is almost as big of an issue as defence. Just comes out so easy

We don’t care about defending the forward 50 we give them 20m off each mark, it makes it flipping hard to lock in. Watching freo yesterday they man the mark religiously inside 50 and it means they’re kicking long down the line from 10m out from goal and it goes to 60 max, we let them stroll to 40m and then kick it 50 and we’re defending half way down the ground.

I’ll be shot for this but my preference is to win today and then the Blues win. I’ve lived through the hard times I get the ‘value playing finals’ mantra but I honestly don’t think we belong there this year.

It’s not really same as that at all, but yes, not sure selection is doing him any favours.

Of course it’s not exactly the same but my point is, without the right base built, you cannot compete at the level.

I’m sure the neutrals are happy but this isn’t the day I’d have chosen for a free flowing shoot out.

Though our defenders have no idea what to do with a high floaty ball . Our defensive marking ability is infuriatingly non existent . Gardiner ‘leads the comp for spoils’ and brain fade Cordy can’t take a grab for cream buns .

He’s missed tackles, missed a set shot from in front (albeit into the breeze) and was directly at fault for one of their goals when he looped a handball straight to a hawks player at half back.

I like him and hope he stays, but it’s not his best game.
