Isn't he playing in the VFL for another team?
I thought they had an arrangement like that with Franga or someone.

Yeah that’s what I meant, he can’t even get a game for our VFL team and as their is no Dev League we’ve had to get a special arrangement to play him at Frankston.

Recontracting Minch, Wright and Pierce then losing Holmes who was probably our best actual tap ruckman and NOK who never really got a go and before that Eli Templeton who showed more than some of the retained guys was weird. You get the feeling we have different agendas in the club with no one really running a clear policy.
Eli was looking good. It was his short haired spud of a twin brother that took his place that needed to get the arse.
Agree that Holmes would have been nice to keep cheaply if only to play on Nicnat once a year.

Pierce at Franga??
How the f*** are we aligned with Sandy and then he plays for them??.
#stopalignmentnow!!!
the ruck coach is Franga head coach ... our ruckman we should have delisted is playing ruck for Franga and we are aligned with Sandy...
seriously has there ever been a more "St Kilda" arrangment than this

Yeah I guess, but with this many ruckmen we were always going to be able to make that call about one of them. Even if he dominates, he won't graduate to the Sandy side so maybe a bit harsh. Haven't seen him play lately tho so ???

Well the changes certainly are interesting.

Sux that Mav got injured, as for starters he might have been back in form and an in form Mav would make us better, plus with Clark, Steele and Koby going out, we really could have done with someone who plays up forward coming in to help balance out the changes- rather than bringing in two who play down back instead- but maybe now we'll do some kind of re-shuffle. Either way it's probably not ideal, but them's the breaks.

Very happy to see White back in tho and also excited to see Coff debut.

Not surprised to see Steele go out, as he was quiet in AFLX and JLT1 and again in the first two rounds of the season, so he needs to go back and get some spark happening and hopefully another string or two to his bow while he's at it.

Not at all surprised to see Armo keep his spot, as I thought he cracked in as hard as anyone for us (and much harder than most) last week in the half I watched (the 2nd), and on top of that he got our 2nd-most disposals and equal-most score-involvements.

A bit surprised to see Koby go out (especially after he kept Sloane to so few disposals last year and Zorko so quiet in R1), but maybe we'll pull something like Gears tagging Sloane, to kill that bird, and at the same time freeing up a spot down back for one of Coffield/White. Remembering that in this round last year Gears tagged Zorko in the middle.

But then, who gets Eddie if that happens? Maybe Webster, plus Eddie is completely off the boil, so he may not be the threat he once was.

The ruck situation is fascinating. Disappointing that Hickey has fallen so far out of favour. Was hoping that he'd put some real pressure on Billy this year and be ready to play and play well if a spot opened up, but it really says something that we preferred a clearly underdone/injured Billy in the first two rounds, and have now gone with someone who has rucked for about 5 minutes in the last 18 months ahead of him as well.

Looking forward to seeing Roma play tho, although between him and Bruce we might get pulverised in the ruck contests!

Says a lot about where Lonie is in their eyes that Wright made the squad ahead of him, and Bailey Rice continues to be very stiff to not get a look in.

Need to put huge pressure on their midfield and ball movement and hopefully reduce the quality and quantity of their forward thrusts, and then when we get the ball back, put the run and kicking of Sav, White, Coffield and Webster out of defence to good use going the other way.

A couple of years ago we tended to do OK when we had a smaller backline against a taller forward line and were able to generate a lot of run from defence as a result, so hopefully this works well for us again tomoz.

Need to come out breathing fire and for Adelaide to have played their GF last week.

I actually don’t mind it.

Let’s both he and Hickey spend a full game in the ruck instead of trying to turn Pierce into a CHB or FF just so we can fit them in.

Not that I have a lot of hope for Pierce these days.

Sandy doing well from 2014 draft at least.
Goddard, McKenzie, Steele, Austin.
Was Lonie that one too? Anyone else?
Maybe Paddy soon?
Wow that would be a bust if all of them were in twos. Trout season?

its funny though over here in the West the local clubs used to complain when their reserves were spread over mutiple teams but in the end it meant that they could play their natural positions ..

Yeah, I'm really concerned that there doesn't seem to be a seamless approach across the club as far as which players to keep on the list, who to play where, a plan to bring kids in at the right moments to minimise making the transition hard and to speed up development. The contracting of players, weird decisions to play guys like Lonie and Minch as mids at VFL level then expect them to be good at roles they don't play at senior level. It's very amateur hour at times.

This weeks team is fun because it shows some future potential stars but doesn't look like they have any plan in place, all year we have selected odd sides with the three tall marking forwards showing no sign of working but continuing with the hope that it will fix it's self.

That freak at Richmond who looked like a Star Trek extra at least managed to spook their board into doing a review for the same reason and he got Neil Balme into the club. My Richmond mates swear he turned them into a cohesive unit working together for the first time.

We need to find someone similar and do an urgent review into the operations of the coaches, recruiters and admin. If it's true that we are spending near the limit of the off field cap it's even more urgent.

so eddie betts has been fairly quiet so far this year ... reckon he is every chance to kick 10 on us ...
I was watching the Crows v Tigers game and Eddie looked so out of touch he should have been playing for us. Gears to play his normal blanket role on Betts.

The interesting one is Ross - the outcome of Brad Scott's decision to play his best tagger on him will alert other coaches. So maybe we send Ross to Sloane to negate any hard tag.

I certainly picked a good year to be Hickey's advocate...

Yeah, it's a shame we don't have a better squad to put up. I reckon if we'd won last week and sent in a similar line up we probably could have lifted against the Crows, they still have plenty of worries and the Crouches are a huge out. There was never a better time to get them in Melbourne. Win last week and we could have been going in confident against the best team for the last few years and given it a real shake. Now we need to hope the team we have coddled together with a bit of an imbalanced feel can confuse their set ups and we have a heap of players playing for pride and to prove themselves to get future games. I'm getting unrealistic glimmers of hope again and will go along with not a great deal of confidence but lots of hope.

Gibbs might be the one we need to send someone like Ross to.

Had 20 CP's last week and from the two games is averaging 31 disposals (16 contested), 7.5 clearances and 1.5 goals.

He's played a blinder or two against us, so we will probably need to watch him closely.

Wouldn't have minded seeing us send Koby to Sloane again and Ross to Gibbs, given that the Crouch's are both out.

But my point was more that he was given less time on the list than others who had shown less than him. Wright and Minch haven’t really looked close. Minch has been around as long as Richo from memory. Doesn’t seem to be in any plans long term.

The great Eli Templeton myth. Do you realize that in his “breakout” 2014 he averaged 8 disposals and 0.6 goals a game. 8.4 disposals and 0.4 goals over his career?
At a guess i’d say both Wright and Minchington have had much better careers than Eli, and that’s saying something because I don’t rate either.
17 other clubs had the opportunity to get Templeton, Holmes and NOK for free and not one of them did, which tells me that maybe we got the decision to delist those players correct.

quiet.. but been giving them away... i dont think the coaches care much about goals from eddie atm ... i doubt he will kick more than 2 if any. crows will kick at least 15-18 goals if the roof is closed... so you guys need to kick 20 to win imho.

bruce usually has 4 or 5 against us...

I'm not saying it was wrong but reckon they showed as much as guys like Minch and Wright. I think we **** up contracting pretty regularly. I never bought the Ameet as a messiah thing because we made plenty of silly moves under him. I reckon Holmes looks a better option than just about any ruck on our list. The guy could tap to advantage. Longer doesn't do any more around the ground and Hickey is like a leper at Moorabbin.

Thanks for that. If you guys kick 15 to 18 we will lose by 10 to 13 goals. I hope we leave the roof open. Well at actually I hope your guys get the squirts and are hospitalised over night.
