It's a bit of a mess. The amount of injuries is a worry but it's even more that they seem to blow out every time. Very few 1-2 week injuries. Everything tends to be 4-8. Clark was listed as 4-6 a month ago. It's still 3-4 now. Wood, Crouch, Henry etc all miles away.

We're just hanging on and should be ok at the moment, but 2-3 more and the depth will be extremely stretched. Dow and Hayes hopefully back very soon. They'll both need VFL returns, but it's better than nothing. Dow will be a good chance to come in pretty quickly.
Spoke to Hunts today. 3-4 weeks away no setbacks which probably means it was a significant calf injury

Makes me crack up seeing someone as vanilla as Brad Scott come out with this rubbish tbh. They're such a nothing club these days and appointing Scott fits them perfectly.

Great Scott!

2 Scotts in just 3 games!

Notwithstanding Essendon's faux tough talk, I expect the next two games to be pretty bruise free tbh, neither team looks particularly hungry.

GWS away is a write off, we need to be fielding a pretty strong team by Round 6 as that's when we'll start meeting the teams thereabouts with us on the table and ones we'll need to beat to play finals.

Good to see we've wheeled out the big guns again for our tribunal defense.

On a different note, it sure could have been handy to have a player like say… Jack Billings ready after losing Wood & Henry in one game.

We really need a bit of luck with injuries otherwise the wheels are going to fall off like last year.

Hammer is a certainty, I think he'll be keen to have a big one - which goes without saying but he is particularly motivated to make a point that he is more than a backup.

The next picks are actually tough to pick.

- Butler seems obvious, but he is still underdone and didn't set the world alight last week. We are a young side, so I get the feeling he will get the gig based on experience more than anything.

- Collard, didn't get a chance in his debut - I'd love to see Ross back him in. I feel like he's the type who will look average in the VFL but will lift/thrive when on the big stage.

- Arie, it's amazing seeing him grow before our eyes. He's always had his boot, but he has taken his medicine and is now a professional footballer. He has bought in and it's bloody exciting to watch. For his development/ego, Ross might want him to prove himself in the 2s for a month - but he is probably the biggest improver since day 1 preseason. His strength one-on-one is improving with each session, as is his movement/positioning, he's got the potential to be something special.

- Hugo, might be the obvious choice as the sub, must admit I'm not noticing him at training as much as I was. Got a load of tackles last week, has the fight in him. Looks to me like a more of pure mid at this stage, so hybrid fwd/mid role might be tough for him before he develops. May well be off the mark, but I think I'd prefer Lancey boy or Arie as the sub.

- A few more notes, it's good to see Paddy put in a big running session. Gassed yes, but he was floating for much of it, with Crouch out his full recovery cant come soon enough. I'm pretty bullish on him, reckon he fits our midfield so nicely. Seb in rehab group hopefully just staying fresh for an old man, Stock in a fluoro no doubt thanks to Dangers knee still, Hunts, Irish, Dougs, Pato running laps.

- Van Es, as good as in full training now, the kid is big! He has a presence and is somewhat immovable in a contest. I must admit I haven't seen much of him for Sandy but if training is anything to go by, I think we have a beauty in him for the years to come.

- Moose looks to have slimmed down, still a big boy who has a long long way to go with fitness, skills and basically everything in between - but I'm not giving up just yet.

- Keels, I hope we have him locked away for a few years. He is genuinely freakish, if this year is backline for his development - I'm all for it, but i hope we stay patient with him. He is actually that ruck/fwd what we are all looking for.

- Probably obvious, but Wright is one of those talls who could really exploit our backline. Call it 'spuds who excel against us', but I think we are pretty fortunate to see him out this week.

As always, I'm fearful for this game, but you'd never know it at training. The guys are up and about and looking sharp!

-

Or RTB might just do the obvious for all the changes:

Caminiti for King
Jones for Wood
Butler for Henry

The hardest one for me is who they choose replace Jones as the Sub.

-Garcia the frontrunner
-Collard (With Higgins and Butler both in, less need for a specialist FP as your Sub)
-Arie- More to give him a taste than anything else.
-One of the other kids

Just on Arie. I know that many were excited by his high stat count. But deduct the kick ins and then allow that due to his kicking that all his team mates had clearly been directed to get the ball to him. Now yes good in that game, but in the seniors it will be Nas and Sincs as well as Battle whom the players will have been drilled to go through.

Love this

What a fantastic analysis. Showed a clear game plan to beat the Pies. Find the outlet kick to stop the frontal pressure. Make Collingwood reset defence by making them move across the field. Time and time again. Get the ball to the skilled users and hit the kick to a dangerous spot and Run Run Run.

7,144 days since winning a final mate, poor cretins are no doubt jaded and let’s face it, they’re working from a very low base

Get excited 🎉

So many great memories in here, some I had forgotten.

A couple of personal favourites, 2009 - dons right in the match at quarter time… nek minnit

Hird being utterly humiliated by carlton in his one final as coach in front of 90,000 also froffish. Shame the blues didn't kick straight, but 44 scores conceded suggests a mastermind was steering the ship… shame about that whole WADA thing

Arie in for King, Cordy goes forward.
Neither Goldstein or Draper pose a genuine threat in the front half.
Battle to Stringer
Schoonersmacker to Langford
Stocker to Gresh
Wilkie to the resting tall.

Garcia for Henry

Have we ever won an appeal?

King should have just coathangered him instead of a light bump to the shoulder. Apparently that’s fine to do
Imagine trying to explain the MRO to someone who doesn't follow the sport:

These ones are "Great contests"

Bedford

Ban worthy
King

Doesn't matter if neither Goldstein or Draper pose a 'genuine threat', we still need someone to play on them.

With these proposed match-ups, they'd be very threatening running around without a defender on them.
