I hope Hammer gets in, but other than the first quarter of the VFL game he really didn’t demand a spot.

Butler was not good, and Collard was virtually anonymous, so I don’t see either of them coming in, other than for structural purposes.

It will actually be quite interesting to see what they do at selection.
Yes it will.

But Ross does like his structure, and wants run, pace and pressure.

So I think the likely is:

King - Caminiti
Wood - Jones (Comes into the 22) Plus Jones can also do midfield rotations, which Wood does not
Henry - Butler The Sandy games was his first back and so he should be better for the run. He still got 8 tackles (Ross loves the pressure side of Butler's game, plus a goal too). I only do not see Butler back if his fitness is not as high as the Club wants.

Henry/Butler is not completely like for like, but is our closest fit. Jones with his pace could be used for some of Henry's tasks which included being the player our mids winning the ball would try and handball too.

The Sub could be a range of players. Arie or Garcia probably the more likely to give one of the kids a taste.

Shoenmakers is almost demanding a spot. There just isn't an obvious hole for him to fill at the moment.

Butler for Henry makes sense.

Shoenmakers for Wood and we shuffle a few deck chairs around. Maybe Bonner spends a bit of time up the ground.

Or we make him sub and Jones spends time on the wing.

I can't see how King doesn't get off that charge.

As other's have noted, his tank may not be good enough yet. Though they did give him a block of extra training in the preseason to improve it.

But to play wing in our game, you need a huge tank. Huge.

Down back for Bonner is a possibility, but let us see how the Don's forward line structures up tonight. All of Arie, Battle, Wilkie and Cordy might make us unbalanced.

Yes it’s only round 2 for us but the questions will start coming regarding how to manage Pou when he is learning a role. He isn’t having the impact or showing the level of development yet. He won’t be dropped this week (you’d think) but unless something twigs he may be better off learning in the 2s or being assigned another role in 1s. Probably got a few more weeks but the questions will come.
Windy went back to the vfl. And look how well he’s going.

Zero chance of Schoenmakers playing wing, zero chance of us going in with four tall backs, zero chance of playing him as a tall forward when he’s never played there. I know we all want to see him but not this week.
There is a difference between a player being tall and a player being a key back.

You can’t lump Arie in with Wilkie Battle Cordy.

Plays nothing like them.

He is a tall half back quarter back.

It’s really hard to articulate him accurately enough if you haven’t watched him. But go look at his carnival games on YouTube for a better idea.

Plays nothing like a key back. Is not a lock down defender.

Is a bigger slower version of Bonner who is better at marking.

Out: Henry Wood (inj.) King (sus.)
In: Garcia Crouch Campbell

B: Stocker - Cordy - Wilkie
HB: Wang.-Mil. - Battle - Bonner
C: Byrnes - Windhager - Hill
HF: Phillipou - Membrey - Sharman
F: Higgins - Campbell - Owens
Foll: Marshall - Steele - Sinclair

Int: Ross Crouch Jones Wilson

Garcia (sub)

Don’t love this side, but I reckon it’s not far off what they’ll do.

Campbell in means we keep the structure.

Crouch doesn’t deserve the gig straight up, but I reckon he’s likely to get it when no one other than Ari and Garcia actually demanded a spot.
Crouch only did a 1/2 game at Sandy, people are saying he is limping. Doubt if he will be back in.

Crouch wasn’t seen after half time and wasn’t covering the ground well when he was on.

Yeah he looked more accomplished then what I was expecting.

I was completely taken by surprise at how respected he was by the rest of the Sandy boys. They wanted to get him the ball at every opportunity.

Bachelors attempted match winning move was to move him to a wing in the last.

Had he nailed his goal. It would have looked good
He’s actually improved out of sight since December. While he does get possies through kick outs and players looking for him, I’m impressed by his reading of the play. Others have commented on his urgency at times and I think that’s fair enough. But I’ve gone from, eh, good kick only to thinking that he’s going to be a bit of a star.

Yep, he’s a HBFer that happens to be tall and can intercept mark. He’s just not quick like others that he will compete against for that spot.

I’m sure you’re right, but the point of being a “not tall” back is so you can chase around small forwards. Is Arie able to do that?

how does he go defending mid sized forwards? worried about his speed.. without having seen him he seems like a third tall ala battle. And battle aint getting dropped any time soon

It's different at Marvel this year.

Bar wise you can access L2 and L3 bars. The EJ WHITTEN bar om L2 is now The View bar. Schooners only and does full strength.
Garden gate on L2 is no different to last year.

New bars on L2 and L3 on the wing railway yard side are plastic cups so I assume mid strength night games.

Can only comment on the north game and yesterday and he seemed comfortable.

Battle is the best comparison based off what we have. However, Battle is more a key defender.

He honestly gives me Luke Ryan vibes. (Can’t think of anyone else at this moment for a comparison)

Pretty clear cut changes for me.

Caminiti for King (I think he gets off)
Butler for Henry
Garcia for wood, jones into the 22

Butlers stats in the vfl won’t matter, if he is fit enough they will play him, he was starved of ball down there and we know what he brings us.

Dare say jones into the 22, and Garcia as the sub.
Schoenmaker doesn’t fit into this structure at the moment.

B: stocker, cordy, Wilkie
Hb: nas, battle, Sinclair
C: hill, windhager, Byrnes
Hf: butler, membrey, Owens
F: Higgins, king?, Sharman
Foll: Marshall, Steele, jones
Int: Bonner, wilson, ross, phillipou,
Sub: garcia,

Emer: schoenmaker, Campbell, McLennan
