I've been saying it for years, (mainly to myself), but pressure is key. Last week is something we have to build on and carry through. Bringing in as many players as they are at once is going to unbalance their side I think. Plus they lack match fitness at this stage. Hawks will be too strong in the end.
Couldn't agree more.

Our pressure levels - both applying as well as withstanding - have been pretty good in all our games so far and I reckon this is another growth area within the team that Sam would be very proud of. If we can sustain that through the year, we'll win a lot more games than we lose.

They JUST beat a Melbourne side who were then rolled by 10 goals a week later by NORTH MELBOURNE

To be fair the weather made it a slug fest and we had no ruck or our Coleman medal winner.

Think you guys may win, could definitely go either way, but I wouldn’t go off our Demons game.

I think those results are mostly irrelevant in terms of form anyway, round 1 has shit teams full of belief, good teams blowing the cobwebs out and everything else in between.

This game should be a cracker hopefully a nice cold night in tassie.

Huge chance to win 50/50 or 60/40 in our favour. Gws have a good list not as strong on the road.

We will need to improve in the middle they have more class than the Blues and Dons we have to break even.

We beat them in Tassie last year and have now added Barrass and Battle, they have added Stringer. I know which way I’m leaning.
We are also down Worpel, MacDonald, Scrim and Dear.

Some short notes from today's sessions.

Sam's presscon started a bit late in which the players are already at the oval before the presscon (normally it is the other way around).

After the presscon, I have noticed that Finn is at the side of the Rehab Group, but even before I made it on that side of the oval (rehab group side) he immediately move into the main group.
He even played in the match sim, although it is with the bibs team.

In the proper Rehab group, we have Scrim, Worps, Lewis and Dear.

Buttler has already started training with the main group.
Blancky was already with the main group for some weeks or so now.

The Rehab Group mainly did some straight running plus some kicking and marking sessions.
Later Lewis and Dear were in some kind of marking drills (from a long kick), working together as if they are on the same team .... working on their leading patterns, positioning, marking and goal kicking.

Croc (Connor MacDonald) was present, but more of a specatator that morning.

In isolation with a trainer, Ramma and Scaife were working on their leading patterns.

A quick match sim was held at around 11am.
The following have started in Gold Team (Team A).

Gunners Chol Ginni Wiz Hardwick Moore
Nuke Day Meek Mass Nash Harry
Weddle Amon CJ Impey Sic Barrass

So more likely than not none of the above players will be dropped.

And off course some pics.

Hopefully plays through the VFL.

Sick of him turning into Ablett Snr everytime he plays us and potatoing up for the rest of the season.

Gut feel is this is going to be tough to win.

Had three slog games with extended periods of pressure over 200. We have a 10-day break but GWS are coming off a bye. They play a similar run and gun style which can be difficult to stop if the intensity is lacking.

Injuries have started to accumulate now. Missing some important players while GWS will basically be at full strength with Hogan, Briggs, Riccardi and Stringer all returning. We've recruited defenders to stop the high ball but it will be coming in fast. Will be interesting to see what effect three talls + Stringer has on their forward pressure.

They have a strong team at stoppage which we've struggled to adjust to so far. We will need to play a tier above what we have to win this.
Thought we were pretty good against Sydney and that form has been franked, they are still a good side who could be 2-1 not 1-2. If we bring that sort of intensity we will be hard to beat. Actually think Gunner should be the sub and Breust comes in and those 2 swap with each other if we don't get injuries. Being smaller and more mobile means they shouldn't be able to tear through us like they did in the last qtr last year. They also with Geelong are the only side I worry about in terms of matching us with speed and spread but I'd they load up the forward line with all of Hogan, Ricciardi and Stringer that leaves them vulnerable at ground level. They can't stretch us for height anymore and we have the option of bringing Frost in for the Stringer type matchup.
