Be interesting to see if they rest Cloke/Murphy/Boyd for this trip. I doubt they'll rest all 3 but can imagine they'd may rest 1 or 2.

I'm expecting 3-4 changes and dogs by 42 points after we concede a big lead and then peg it back a bit in junk time.

I'm driving to Coral Bay for this one so I can stick my head in the water and distract myself with the beautiful coral and colourful fish.

I think two things re freo:

1. Dogs by 20 goals; and

2. Any less than 4 changes (and any dropping of youngsters such as Blakely) this week will be the beginning of the end for Ross' tenure at Freo. It will just be a slippery slope from there that he will not come back from. Not that I want this. But boy is Lyon stubborn and stubbornness when what you're doing is not working = failure.

What a fantastic write up.

Honestly I'm travelling to Albury this weekend so that's a positive but being the sucker I am, I'll still find somewhere to watch this game.

Given that I'm trying to change so much about my life, I was making great progress until the footy season stated.

Perhaps I'll write a book "Freo Sent me to the Asylum" chronicling my journey towards sanity then having it ripped away.

My Prediction:

Bulldogs by 60 points and 12 free kicks.

Ross should just aim to beat the bulldogs in the free kick count.

Nope!

Losing the free kick count is a moral victory on Bay 13 and given we're 9th on that ladder, I'm expecting a big move into the moral victory top 8 this week

I would find it funny if this turns out like an unexpected win like last year.
It wasn't that unexpected. If there is one mildly endearing fact of Freo's consistent up and downs and form oddity, it's the fact they always seemed to turn it on and churn out strong and gutsy wins for Pav. The Bulldogs weren't that great in the home and away season and they were probably just bracing for the finals anyway, plus if we lost at home in Pav's final match I think I would have just about given up for good. That would have been a disgusting effort.

we were underdogs on that day. But it was a typical Ross Lyon grinding win. The amounst of close games we lost at home still frustrates me.

Grey - Collins - Ryan
Hughes - Hamling - Mundy
B Hill - Sandilands - S Hill
Blakely - Kersten - Langdon
Walters - McCarthy - Ibbotson

R: Fyfe - Neale - Weller
I/C: Darcy - Balic - Crozier - Logue

Debuts: Ryan, Darcy, Balic, Logue

This is a good test for Joel Hamling – should know this side well and his body type can see him go against smalls and mids. There's been a heap of complaints about the backline being too big, too slow, and too inefficient. Grey goes hard at it and he's a good size who loves a tackle and thinks outside the box – bloke is owed a game. People keep saying Johnson can't intercept anymore or whatever else so Luke Ryan is absolutely perfect – he was picked up as a defender who jumps up and stops the footy before it hits a pack, and that's what we need... good size too. I think we should start berthing some of the younger brigade in the middle so Weller gets a gig but he'd swap with Blakely and Langdon there. Mundy started as a half-back and another big issue is the fact kicks out the backline have started... well, they haven't started, there's none. Mundy's greatest sight is him plucking the ball from the back of the pack, running up and having a look and hitting a perfect 50 metre hit. He's what we need. Logue can interchange across the backline obviously and I'd have him on the flanks. Ethan Hughes is a kid I just like, he might be a bust but he really likes taking the game on. I like the sound of Brennan Cox... he played well in the U18 state comp so why not? Maybe he's worth a trial sooner than later.

This is the last chance for Kersten, or at least one of them. He deserves another game but he's been average so far and to be honest, always looked average at the Cats. Langdon has started getting into it and Blakely is a great idea at centre half forward, but I wouldn't mind seeing him go into the ruck when Weller is tired and especially if a bigger body like Fyfe or Mundy are elsewhere. Ibbotson has a short sharp kick and honestly, I didn't know about blooding an extra player... this is perhaps his final chance at AFL level. He's been a pretty good player for Freo and had some spells in his time where he was a total asset, really underrated, for five to ten-odd games. But his time has come.

Balic to me seems someone who could have some ego, arrogance, and anger – that's what we need. A kid like Powell-Pepper who isn't intimidated.

Overall – Luke Ryan seems an awesome idea but Logue and Brennan Cox should be getting 5 games by the bye, I say. Really like old Sam Collins too.

It wasn't a Ross Lyon win, it was the Doggies being complacent and having bigger issues and our players all having a lot of respect for one of the last great AFL servants. People still think Ross Lyon is a good coach? This has nothing to do with the arrogant deadshit.

your giving 4 guys a debut game. Talk about throwing players in the deep end.

Sorry for the intrusion but we don't destroy teams.

If we do win it won't be by that much

If you win????

No offence but I don't think you've been paying attention. You see, your doggies wont have to destroy us, our players will be so kind as to do the destroying for you. All the Bulldogs will need to do is make sure they take the 20 turnovers to half time that we will offer. Of course, that and dutifully take the +10000 free kick count that you're going to get. Unless half your team miss the bus, it will be a solid win. However, if your boys turn up and play something resembling their premiership winning ability shown in the first few rounds, rest assured we will be destroyed and then some.

Ryan has been in rehab for weeks only just came out to play last weekend and Darcy has a poor tank (acknowledged) that they are working hard to build up. So you are going to play two players that won't last half a game against the quickest team - Fantastic. Oh and Cox can't get a kick in the WAFL.

Balic, Sheridan and Collins will get a gig (hoping for Crozier and Grey also though).

I'm not too different (though I think you forgot Tucker and of course your favourite, Sheridan)
Spurr - Collins - Crozier
Hughes - Hamling - Mundy
B Hill - Blakely - S Hill
Langdon - Tabs - Weller
Walters - McCarthy - Kersten

R: Sandilands - Fyfe - Neale
I/C: Balic - Sheridan - Logue - Tucker

Debut: Logue, Balic

I want to see Hughes, Mundy, Logue, and Crozier passing it low and hard to Bill, Sill, Tucker, Sheridan, Langdon, and Weller to run the ball up the middle to leads from Walters, Fyfe, Tabs, McCarthy and Kersten. Keep it simple, pass and run, handball to other runners, and kick to leading forwards. No BS, no kicking to packs up the wings and watching it rebound, no mucking around with it at the back kicking across goal or backwards. The strength in that side is it's runners and keeping it simple with maintaining possession, simple handballs, and no atmospheric kicks, which would give us a much better chance against opps than the crap currently being dished up.
