Here it is - after Hawthorn proved too strong in last year's decider, both sides enter the first rematch of 2014 undefeated, but not without a few cattle short of their best 22 (a total of at least 11 players will be missing from the GF 44).

With only two rounds down, form is hard to pin down, but both are scoring strongly, and Freo in particular have demonstrated their full defensive prowess, conceding just 85 points.

Recent form between the two sides
Hawthorn have a strong recent record v Freo, having won 8 of the last 9, including the only 2 times these sides have met at the MCG.
Freo's only win since 2007 was the 2010 Elimination Final.

Recent form at this venue
Fremantle were 1-2 (incl. GF) at the MCG in 2013, and have won 3/6 since start of 2012.
Hawthorn were 9-3 (incl. GF) at the MCG in 2013.
Both sides are yet to play there in 2014.

Current ladder position
Fremantle 2nd 2 wins 0 losses 238.8%
Hawthorn 5th 2 wins 0 losses 129.4%

Crucial stats
On the "big three" of contested ball, disposal efficiency and tackles:
Contested possession: Freo 1st; Hawthorn 14th (though rain last week would have helped Freo in this area)
Efficiency: Hawks 72.8 Freo 67.3
Tackles are a surprise: Freo pretty standard on 73, but Hawks just 50.5.

Experts
Swinburne picks Hawthorn
Roby's Power Rankings also tip Hawthorn,
The Squiggle has Hawthorn by 1.
Hawks are the slight favourites on all betting sites, but with a line <10 on most, there is definitely no clear cut winner in the eyes of most.

My prediction
Head says "ARHGHGHHGHGH HOPE HOPE HOPE WE WIN"
Heart says Freo in a hell of a game, by 10 points.
