Thanks Mitch

It was great to see Mitch and Swanny in a big hug after the lap of honour, I would love to see the club fly Mitch and his family down for the GF if we happen to make it this season, he was a huge part of turning our club around IMO, his lead by example on field mongrel was pivotal. He deserves to be in the room after we win the flag.

It's vindicating to know we don't have a biased view of his bias.

JB is not much better with his over sensationalism. You can stick your 'this proud football club' up the clacker hole.

I'd love Kayo to be able to mute the commentary track separate to the ambient noise.

Not a fan of Channel 7 but a lot of the fox commentators are pretty bad too. And even the good ones, like Huddo, are calling games interstate from the Fox Footy studio in South melbourne. Its amateur hour stuff.

‘A minute left and Brisbane are
hanging on for grim life by 40 points. We’ve never seen anything like it…’
What a dork.
Best bits: Jack Payne’s one handed pick-up and sure disposal under pressure in the first.
Nick Daicos’ shirk when faced with the oncoming bulldozer, skinny Darcy Wilmot.
Wilmot’s ability to keep his feet and have a second, third crack.
The commentary ( and umpires particularly in the last quarter) really annoyed me last night. And probably made the last quarter more stressful than it needed to be.

But thinking about it this morning maybe channel seven/fox smell has data that if the pies are down by 30 at the last break there is a huge decrease in watches. So the commentary team is instructed to keep “conning” gullible pies supporters into thinking they have a chance. Similar instructions appear to have been given to the umpires.

agree I am really enjoying Payne and Wilmot‘s continuing improvement.

also agree with comment about big O ordinary tap ruckman, but really solid in all other aspects of his game.

Mcluggage was down. Berry not a huge impact. Lachie whilst very good, he wasn’t BOG dominant. Even as recently as last year could we have those lads perform at that level and still manage to knock off the form team in the comp in the manner that we did.

Very happy that we cashed in some fwd
50 capital and reinvested into the midfield. It’s still a work in progress but we will be much better for it in the long run.

Would also explain why it worked in our favour whenever O belted it forward, because it nullified whatever prep they’d done.
Same when he took the ball out of the ruck, because usually he never does that. A number of times when he did it the Pies just stood around waiting to see what happened next.

On Rayner - interviewed after hanging out down back he said he realised how easy he was for defenders to shut down.

If last night's form continues, the master mind coach who thought of it/ enabled the opportunity is clearly an ok kind coach.

My call - it's clicked for Rayner and it's going to be joyful to watch him from now on.

Did we literally recruit Gunston for Rayner to train on him as a defender for preseason?

Ah so the mystic truth is revealed - the mystery is solved - the sage has spoken and the nuances have been fully explored!

On the other hand we have this piece of 'analysis'

IF ..

I initially wasn't sure about Charlie's choice of John Denver's Take Me Home, Country Roads ...

THEN ...

it's genuinely grown on me over the years. Heard it six times on Thursday night. This side's most crucial player. It's simple. If he kicks goals, it wins. West Virginia, mountain mama.

The crowd are really getting into now as well and singing along to it and Sweet Caroline... need more to get involved, it puts Port's Never Tear us Apart to shame.

I didn't think BT was any worse than usual last night. Commentators always try to make the game seem more exciting than it is

Lobe how Hodge only played for us for 2 seasons and clearly still feels a connection to the club

BT was comparablely morose when we put on 10 goals in a row against the hottest side in the competition though.

I would like it to end about ten seconds before the restart of play instead of 0 but I really enjoy it. Sense of uniqueness to both our home games and to the players as well. It’s fun.

If i was a lions supporter I wouldn't be very proud of this win. They're lucky collingwood couldn't convert set shots into goals. If they did collingwood would've won.

Most of Collingwood's set shot misses were predominately from tighter angles or from further out, more a function of where they took their shots from. They only missed two "easier" set shots on goal (Daicos and Hill).

I'm just lucky I got out alive at AO after Round 1. Port fans are the most feral and obnoxious in the league.

Absolute pity you guys are 1-3. Looks like you played your grand final in Round 1.
