If no one has called it yet then I am calling it..."Danger Game"..................................................................................................for Geelong!

You’re pointing out alternative facts.

You said he was never going to play. I said that he trained fully. Fourpillars goes to every training he can, but you’re telling him he’s wrong.
I said Blind Freddy could tell after he sat on the pine for the whole quarter in Rd 1 that it was worse than the minor calf reported by the club.

Then the club say he’s going to miss Rd 2, but if he trains fully last Thursday he’s available for selection in Rd 3.

Yes, I said he was never going to play. His history of soft tissue injuries is horrific. Chad then goes and rules himself out on Thursday (before selection).

You claim he trained fully on Thursday (and made fun of my post).

Now we hear he didn’t actually complete the full session, ruling himself out as the session was too intense for his calf (and thus wasn’t available). I have no idea what TheFourPillars saw at training - or perhaps didn’t.

Guess what, the new club injury report backs up what I was posting, and you were challenging. His calf injury is worse than the club reported after Rd 1.

You can’t say the club aren’t treating the fans like mushrooms (keep us in the dark and feed us manure) re: injuries.

Scrimma’s groin/quad issues were never even acknowledged by the club in an injury sense. Yet he missed the last PM and played VFL in rds 1 and 2. No explanation as to why.

These are not alternative facts.

Ahhhh a replacement game where I get to enjoy the heights of Q level. Gonna be one of those games where Q level in the Southern is packed save for AFL members. It was terrible at the Richmond game last year.
I've got Level 2A seats, but L4 is looking far more comfortable with the crappy weather forecast (similar to last year's game?)

Wingard literally trained with the main group. That means he trained fully. He didn’t do boxing, walk laps or do nothing.

He then took himself off after the match sim and told Burge he didn’t feel right.

You came on here and claimed that Wingard was never playing and I told you that it was pretty interesting that a palyer who was never playing would complete the main session if he was as hampered as you wanted him to be.

From the club website:

In other injury news, Chad Wingard (calf) will resume full training this week.

"Last Tuesday we spoke about Chad being a probable to play, and at that stage we felt he would be," Burge said.

"He participated in our main training session on Thursday and about three-quarters through the session - there was no incident, nothing happened - but he just spoke to us and said he didn't feel 100 per cent confident in our high-intensity match simulation.

So he didn’t complete the main session. He actually took himself off and didn’t get through match sim.

Therefore he didn’t train fully.

You’re splitting hairs on my claim “he was never playing”.

It’s a statement of opinion that realistically, with his injury history, this “minor calf” was always going to be more than a tweak which he could recover from for Rd 2.

Now we are leading into Rd 4 and apparently he’s no certainty for this game either. If he doesn’t get up it’s a full month off playing footy - isn’t it.

Did u even read the report mate said he trained and there were no issues but wingard said he didnt feel right so they held him back. He did the whole intra and was involved which was after some training drills. He went off after the intra didnt do any goal kicking or other work the session was virtually over as far as i was concerned. U can make up ure own mind about wingard but wingard was out there both days last week and not in rehab

Semantics really on both sides of the argument. I dont really care whether he trained fully or partially on the Thursday night

Fact is Chad couldn’t even get through the first friggin game of the season without doing a soft tissue injury - yet again - even after sitting out one of the practise matches as a “precaution”

I love the guy when he is on fire but unfortunately Chads body hasn’t been fit to play regular AFL football for a long time. Absolute bust of a trade. A straight swap of Burton for Chad is a win for PA let alone the additional first and second rounders …

Cameron and Stewart the 2 key players we have to keep below their usual standard and we are in with a decent chance. Duncan back too who always plays well against us. If Finn not on Stewart I would go to Duncan

No I’m not splitting hairs on “he was never playing”.

You’ve chosen to believe a conclusion dictates the preceding events.

The fact is that he trained in the main group twice during the week, so the whole idea that “he was never playing” is false.

If he was never playing, they wouldn’t have had him in full training.

I won’t bother trying to convince you, as you’ve clearly decided to interpret what I wrote in a manner to assist you. Even though it wasn’t what was intended.

In my opinion, he was never playing Rd 3 as his history of recovery from soft tissue injury is poor. That opinion proved to be correct - he didn’t play as he wasn’t fully recovered.

I’m done with this topic.

Lol the angst isn't over whether he played last week but over a trade we did eons ago. Something that hawthorn doesn't care about and it doesn't matter in the current environment. Chad can provide some value to us this year and i am looking forward to seeing him on Easter Monday

Yep you said it mate in your opinion. The medical staff at hawthorn have no idea compared to you and no they were not trying to hide his injury because as i said he trained on both days but you're the authority on this and you're right with logic like that this topic is done

Is this a game 4 match thread? Or a Wingard partial v full training thread?

Just joking, I enjoyed reading it all.

Hoping for good weather, probably Wingard (if fit) for Finn or Bramble depending if we want to tag or not.

Wouldn't mind giving Butler another crack to and please don't play Kosi.

Wingard as the sub is perfect, calf issues but can be damaging coming on fresh in the 3rd. Bramble didn't do too much wrong though
I think wingard starting and getting subbed off is the better option, they won’t want him warming up then sitting on the bench for 2 qrts

Worst trade I can remember from us unfortunately.

It's unfortunate that Chads body is letting him down as he can be the X factor that we need. For me when he is ready to go he plays as the sub, a qtr and a bit is maybe all when we can expect out of him now.
