Have any track watchers noticed anything with how much training Newcombe is doing? Got a hunch he’s got an overuse injury through his hips and groin which would lead to his loss of power

Ins: Butler, Ramsden, S.Mitchell
Outs: Lewis, Watson, Morrison

Amon or Ward as the sub.

I was annoyed that we took Gunston back because he would take games from Ramsden, DGB and Serong.

Ramsden could be our version of Luke Jackson. We need to get games into him.

Ideal time for a re-shuffle - Lewis is a key part of our setup, so the whole lineup will be changing.

Two forced changes, and the return of Nick's Boogeyman:
Ramsden replaces Lewis in the 22.
Butler replaces Watson in the 22.
Maginess replaces Morrison in the 22 (Mackenzie/Macdonald to the sub and play 100% of Q4 onball).

Tempted to keep Morrison as sub and leave out Impey but there's already enough uncertainty in our lineups.

Defence:
Hardwick stays back in defence, replacing Amon who returns to the wing. (Seamus needs at least one more game, then I'd look to bring him in maybe for Impey/D'Ambrosio). Pies have lots of marking small/med forwards - think we will need Weddle to stay back this week. Frost, Scrimshaw, Hardwick take the deepest forwards, Weddle and Sicily pushing up higher alongside Impey and D'Ambrosio across HBF.

Forward:
Chol steps up to replace Lewis (who has been dreadful so far - hope we give Mitch an extra few weeks to get fit and angry). Ramsden comes in to take the 2nd ruck/2nd KPDF role. Either can give Meek a chop-out too, we need Meek to just go 100% as long as he can and not try to conserve energy to make it through the game. Meek could even be a sneaky 4th quarter sub option. Butler in for Watson (injured). Sam's earned a spot with his first few Box Hill performances this year. Breust gets one more week (he likes playing the Pies), but otherwise could potentially rotate with Gunston as our 3rd forward 'onfield coach' each week. Maginess back in to the lineup to destory NDaicos again.

Midfield:
CMacD taking CmacK's midfield minutes to open up the forwardline spot for Finn. CMack to sub - not on performance, I just think Cam needs a breather more after a heavy load in the wet and short turnaround). I liked Ward's game last year on JDaicos, and feel he's growing in the wing role each week - he'd be my other choice for CMacK's inside midfield time. Amon on the other wing. Meek did enough to justify a shot at an actual AFL standard ruck opponent - whilst I expect he and Ramsden/Chol will be beaten by Cameron/Cox combination I'd hope they provide a contest. Hustwaite (54) and MacKenzie (36) spent almost half the game on the bench - hopefully both get more time in the middle this week.

About time someone had the guts to stand up and question this royal WE that she always hides behind.

She is very good at the political stuff and corporate speak but how about you start owning your decisions and stop hiding behind WE.

D'Ambrosio, Impey and Amon are similar types - clever and all good but not enough physical presence, especially when all three are playing back. Two of them on the wings for outside run which we're lacking. Serong seems like a bigger body, although I haven't seen much of him. Like to see Josh Ward given genuine on-ball time with Weddle moving forward with licence to push upfield. Chol at full-forward, Scrimshaw centre-half forward. Maginness to tag Josh Daicos and Hardwick to tag his brother. Butler for The Wiz and give him four weeks to justify being kept on the list. Morrison dropped. Never hurts you.

The wording of the AFL statement on their “acknowledging” the call was wrong was a joke. Basically emphatically said they don’t umpire certain players differently but they miraculously have reduced the frees Jack gets by almost 90%.
They’re fkcn hacks

We've spoken to Hawthorn and reiterated as we did in 2022 to all clubs that we don't want players to lead with their head. What I want to be really clear on is we don't have a different set of rules for a player; we don't have a different set of rules for a club or a team; we officiate our games all the same way within the rules."

So, errrrrrm, why HAVE you officiated him differently ?

Geezus, what does he have to do? Have you not watched any BH games? he should take Bruests spot immediately.
Just watched footage of the game and the TV doesnt offer any relief for the lack of chase or pressure offered by Breust yesterday. Im in the send him to Box Hill camp. He has runs on the board but a spell in the two's might help to fire the ol boiler up.

Careful. You better check if that is acceptable before you make such a statement

One thing Malthouse did well at Collingwood years ago, was that he didn't care who you were, if there was someone having a consistent good run in the seconds in your position, out you go and in they come.

Breust is now teetering in that position for me. Butler has been in good form. The thing that saves Breust for mine, is Watson getting injured.

3 losses in a row and the only changes most are proposing are due to injuries.
How is that plausible

I just don't see how changing one kid for another kid or one experienced player for an inexperienced player is going to help a team that's biggest apparent issue is consistency and connection.

We had patches of great play yesterday, I think they'll back in the team for another week to see if they can replicate it for longer.

We're only 26 games into our proper rebuild , it's going to be all fine in about 12-18 months. Great signs all round.
And, do NOT count 2022 as year one of rebuild either, that was year zero, we had over 1000 games experience in the side Sam took over , it wasn't until 2023 the team was what Sam wanted.
Someone should remind of these facts to kingy.

It was probably always going to be the most interesting match of the round after last year, Finn v Daicos and then the Ginnivan factor. So the AFL in their brilliant wisdom chuck it in the worst timeslot

Hustwaite/Morrison > Seamus Mitchell - Would be tough on both of them, but structurally any of them going out enables us to play Amon on the wing and Ward in the guts.

Lewis > Gunston - Prefer his experience to Ramsden in what will be a HOT contest.

Wizard > Butler - Devastating that the Wiz is out, he's been a bright spark.
Butler has ****ing killed it for BH however. People are going to love his forward pressure. He's playing like a maniac at the moment.

FB: Weddle - Frost - Hardwick
HB: Mitchell - Sicily - Scrimshaw

MF: Meek - Worpel - Nash
MF: Ward - Newcombe - Amon

HF: Moore - Gunston - MacDonald
FF: Butler - Chol - Ginnivan

INT: Impey - Morrison - Mackenzie - D'Ambrosio
SUB: Breust

I'd like to get Finn in there somewhere, but I feel this is probably our best 23 and best structure taking into consideration the players we have injured.

Does Buttler, Ramma come in for Watson and Lewis.

Does Hustwaite hold his spot? Does Mitchell come back into the side? Does Breust hold his spot? Does finn come in on the back of his Box Hill performance?

In: Buttler, Ramma
Out: Lewis, Watson

I'd like to think Hustwaite gets another chance this week. Which means Finn misses out.
Breust gets more than a few matches to prove himself, been constant performer over 13 years. Has more than a few points banked.
Mitchell needs to come in after two solid weeks, not sure for who though.

Think Ramsden has to come in instead of Gunston. Ramsden to play the 2nd ruck role so Chol stays forward. Can't be relying on Gunston as your only tall forward when Chol goes into the ruck
Maginness and Mitchell comes in for Watson and Hustwaite. Means Hardwick goes forward to help support the forward line

His main role seems to be getting the forwards in a huddle after a goal. There is some value in that, but a few goals every now and that wouldn’t hurt.

Daicos will be at half back so that means Finn takes up a forward spot.
