Trades Round 4 Trades

Rage trade so far is Treloar to Gibbs though an under priced Merrett and Rockliff is very tempting.

Managed to move up the rankings and score 2067 even without my 4 unique mids going over 100.

Trade 2 might be a downgrade on the bench if there's some fresh meat available because I've got Naughton, Barry, Crowden, Langdon and Waterman warming the pine.

In 24 hours I have made just the one double trade, i am truly shocked. Maybe it's my subconscious not wanting Zerrett and Billings anywhere near my team ever again...

Billings -> Walter's

I'm interested in Ratugolea this week. Played well against our mob and moved well for a big man. Only had 7 hitouts which means I think he has room for improvement when he comes up against weaker rucks. Job security is probably the worry but could make some serious coin quickly at this rate. Shadow89 what say you :moustache:
He's done his JS no harm with his performance last week. Seems to be ahead of Buzza and is a good back up ruck to whoever we choose. If he keeps it up, could be that second foil we've been looking for, for Hawkins. I'd say he's pretty safe and a good option for the meantime. Can't see anyone ahead of him :)

Sweet thanks!

Will Constable play in Gazza's absence?

Can anyone shed any light on why Zerrett scored so low on the weekend? Was he tagged/effects from concussion still/played forward??

Tagged and didn't want to work very hard......

No probs! There's a definite possibility that he could get a run in the next couple of weeks. Has been really good in the VFL. Duncan will be who comes straight in for Gaz, but Constable or Cunico could come in for Cockatoo and Smith in for Cam Guthrie with Blicz going back. Cunico has had two straight games of 30+ in the VFL, so he might be slightly ahead. Will let you know if I hear anything :)

Does not know how to handle a tag. Search up 'Zach Merrett' on google, and there's an article on how since Watson has gone and the rest of the midfield isn't as damaging, Zerrett is the main target due to his possession accumulation, run on the outside and penetrating kicking ability. When you look at Essendon's midfield, they have Heppell who's close to 6'3, and then McGrath 5'10.5, Zaharakis 5'11 and Smith 5'9. Stringer hasn't got enough of a tank to play more than 50% mid and he's not as talented as Merrett either, so he's excluded from the conversation too. It's been said that Heppell's kicking isn't as damaging as Zerrett's, so teams don't look to lock down on him first. I'd already heard some of this pre-season, but his end of season form and his inability to shake a tag meant that he would be lucky if he scored 80, let alone 120. As he's not an inside bull, he can't just push through with contested possession like a Selwood, Sloane, or of course Titch, would. I think we're just seeing more of the same from last year, rather than an anomaly or a one off. I can't see him averaging over 100 this year, and 90 would be a stretch.

Thanks! He is an excellent price and potential role/scoring if he does get a run of ~6 weeks in the context of the injuries to your side, running up to the bye rounds. Fingers crossed!

Struggling with my priority this week.

I have Merrett, Beams, Billings ... do I

a) trade one of the three (which one?)
or
b) turnover a couple of rookies and chase BEs.

Merrett has dropped so much and I see his low TOG as a positive, as it allows plenty of scope for improvement, but he’s the obvious candidate to go. Problem is there isn’t much to sideways trade to - best option looks to bring in a MID/FWD alike Gray Walters etc. Beams needs to perform to avoid a drop in price, and was purchased as a long hold, so thinking I should probably ride that out. Billings had a poor second half last week but wasn’t bad to half time so not too caught up in the trade hype just yet.

Thinking of just holding and chasing some more cash (option B). Not much in the kitty at the moment and plenty of price drops up ahead.

I like it. I've all ready got Gibbs, so I'm going to Cogs instead. Billings to Gray or McLean is my move, dont have enough for Walters, as I'm only left with 8k in the bank after the move.

I'll need to do a double downgrade of my rooks next week to generate some cash. Potentially Stephenson and Brayshaw. See who performs or comes in next week.

cant decide to focus on swapping out some under performing rookies, or cash in for an upgrade...

option 1:
Jaidyn Stephenson -> Coffield, Fritsch -> higgins

option 2: (current rucks are grundy, jacobs, english)
nic nat (currently on the bench but was going to trade him next rnd) -> Cameron (NPR), Jaidyn Stephenson -> hogan or Jarryd Lyons

option 3:
Fogarty(NPR) -> higgins, dusty -> gibbs
dusty's had an okay start but his $/point is way up there (peaked?). tigers have a good run coming up though
I'd trade out NN - too much cash on your bench imo.

Thinking:

Naughton > Coffield
Ryan > Christensen

There's such a dearth of forwards to look at, so feel like a mini-upgrade of Ryan to Christensen is worth it, but not sure.
Bundy: BE of 19, projected to rise 40k so not a bad punt. Just make sure you have an exit plan in case it all goes to shit.

Looking for some opinions on my team of potatoes.

Currently thinking for my first trade I go Rayner > Ratugolea to continue my rookie cash generation. After this first trade I have $150k to play with.

For my second trade I was thinking Billings > McLean which would leave me with about $190k to play with next week. Billings has a pretty tough run coming up and with how Stkilda are going atm I don't have a lot of confidence in him.

My other option to trade is Zerrett, the logical thing to do now is hold him as most of the damage is done, however after reading a few peoples thoughts some seem to think his output will be dreadful for the rest of the year.

Possible trade in option I'm considering for Zerrett are: Duncan, Dusty, Hunter and Fyfe. I'm pretty tempted to roll the dice on Hunter or Duncan as they are so unique and I need to make up ground. Of course if they fail I'll only be digging myself into a bigger hole.

Thoughts?

Just tidying up my rooks this week.

Ryan > English
O’Shea > Coffield

Still carrying Merrett, I’m backing him to turn it around but it doesn’t get any easier with Essendon facing Port this week.

The downgrade options for Liam Ryan are not appealing at all, trying to find a way to upgrade him to Jesse Hogan but is appearing very difficult.

At the moment am leaning towards Adam Treloar to Mitch Wallis and Liam Ryan to Jesse Hogan..

Not sold on Wallis, but need a mid under $600k to make the Ryan to Hogan trade work.

Anyone got suggestions??

Could just go Liam Ryan down to a rookie (Ratugolea) and Treloar up to a 800k premo? Hogan has scored well against two average teams and pulled out a 68 against Geelong round one. Needed 26 touches to crack a ton this week, can't see him being a top 10 forward. And Wallis is just a meh pick, unless (maybe) in the forward line

Honestly, I'd be looking at Hibberd before anyone else. He's admitted that now that Lever is in the team, that his role has changed, so that's why he's losing points. I'd say maybe something along the lines of Hibberd to Seedsman, then Zerrett to Fyfe if you have 20K or so spare. If Billings has another shit week (which I think he will), then you can just go Billings to Walters/Gray next week.

Ryan -> Waterman
Dow -> Jacobs

shuffling deck chairs like a chump. Gonna hold Zerrett and Billings and cry all weekend.

Hogan is playing midfield minutes, which is what appeals to me and I believe he has the potential to be the #1 scoring forward which is why he intrigues me.. I dont like Ratugolea, Higgens is probably the only fwd rookie that i dont have that is worth considering.

I agree re Wallis, i might have to change tactic and Hogan can wait another week.

I havent watched the Port games so far, but what is the reason for his poor scoring? Is he worth a look now he has dropped so much in value?

Anyone worried about the amount of time dusty is playing forward? Against Adelaide his score was respectable as he kicked 5, but against hawks he looked awful. Thinking dusty - danger might be a luxury trade cause I’ve got nothing else (except Billings) that needs to be done. And Geelong has 3/4 next games at Skilled where danger excels.

I'd only be doing that as an absolute luxury. I was at the game, it was 31 degrees and he seemed to be cooked by the heat, he could bounce back with a big score against Brisbane this week.

With that said, I'd imagine Danger will rip StKilda to shreds at Simonds, so it's not the worst trade.
