Word was that Smith done a fairly significant injury to his wrist/hand and simply played out of necessity, I would hazard a guess he will miss. I am a little more confident that Cuz will get up, and gee didn't he look like a veteran on the weekend? He is come on so much this year along with Worpel, also the pleasing thing was Howe came in and looked really decent.

Think of it like this -

O'mera
Worpel
Cousins
Howe

Thats plenty enough inside grunt to compete for the day.

Scully
Henderson
Smith (possible)
Morrison (although has been terrible, is capable)

Thats enough outside run for us to take the points on their outside mids.

It then comes down to us kicking a score as we at least know our defensive structure will keep us in the game for long enough.

Wingard
Breust
Ruff
Pop
Gunston

It's on these 5 to kick us a score, how we deliver the footy into these boys will determine the outcome.. Surely Clarko is working on this? We can not go another week with the terrible delivery and complete inability to compete in the air, what do we need to do change this?

I think we are a chance if we compete at our best, but in saying that, this team is so fragile when teams gain momentum that you can't have any confidence. We also have an issue with soft tissue and fitness, it's clear something has changed and we need to rectify it.

I'm fairly pessimistic on this one. Geelong might be overrated with only 1 decent win, but I think Pies are probably in the 3 best teams going around this year, so their win over them shouldn't be underestimated. We on the other hand have beaten North and Adelaide who are both 1-3, and lost to what I think will turn out to be overrated Saints and Bulldogs outfits. While it is true we could easily be 4-0, we could have also been 1-3 if Wingard hadn't stopped North's momentum in the last quarter. These first 4 games were also arguably our easiest stretch of 4 for the year given a mixture of pre-season expectations (North, Saints, Dogs) and how they are actually travelling this year (Adelaide).

We could have lost 3 more players (Stratton, Frawley and potentially Smith by the sounds of things), and only stand to get back O'Meara. To think we can improve on our form from the last 3 rounds to a degree that will allow us to beat Geelong while actually losing more players seems mighty hopeful. O'Meara back will help, but as good a job as Worpel and Cousins have been doing to help carry our midfield in Mitchell (and Shiels absence), we've been getting done in the clearances more times than not, and with 6-6-6 that can be very costly.

The only thing I'm hanging on to is that these games tend to be close irrespective of the form of the two sides, but I think it is more likely this will be like the easter Monday 2017 slaughter than a close game. Geelong still love beating us, and I reckon they'll taste blood in the water before the game even starts, and the confidence that gives them will lead to things getting quite ugly for us. I'm usually the glass half full type, but think it will be a bitter potion we'll be drinking next Monday. Will be very happy to be proven wrong.

The way I see it unfolding is that they'll dominate centre clearances, and our outs down back will give their forwards a field day, and that while I rate our forward line over theirs (and probably our best 22 backline too), I don't think their mids will allow us enough entries to win, and I expect some quick back to back goals from the centre bounce for Geelong.

If Stratton doesn't get up, reckon we are going to see Scrimshaw getting the job of minding Danger. Only needs to do a few good things for it to be a good education for the lad. He just has to keep his positive focus and back himself to attack the ball. If he goes body on body he's gone.

We need JOM to maximise McEvoy's dominance - he'll boss Stanley all day - did last time.

If we can win, clearances, and have the game played in our half, we can win it.

I agree, but I can't see it happening. We dominated hit outs against Dogs and they killed us in the clearances. We won hit outs 46 to 17 - a complete dominance - and dogs pretty much doubled our number of centre clearances (9 to 17).

And? I said at the time he should of got one week, I want action based on merit and not based on if a player is in brownlow form or is an AFL love child.

I just want consistency. I reckon potential to cause harm is a shit criteria, and from what I could see the elbow to the head was insufficient force (luckily for Danger), and the only way you could hang him is on the potential to cause harm, so I guess I'm happy for him to get off from that point of view, as long as we don't have any players get done under the potential harm clause later in the season. I know we've fallen foul of this criteria in the past, but two wrongs don't make a right.

Dangerfield got off because the other guy didn't actually die. Mind you he could stay home with Ablett and Selwood and it probably wouldn't matter to this week's result.

I like Cegs but he couldnt catch a cold on Sunday. I still think BigBoy needs a chop out so is Pittonett up to AFL standard? Otherwise TOB will need to come in to play Ceg's role.
Also, im not convinced on Nash (at all) but i think Mitchell Lewis had massive strapping on his leg after BoxHill game and cant have him and Rough and a resting ruckman in forward line.
If Smithy doesnt get up, who from BoxHill can provide the run off the wing?

Once we’re in motion and win cc’s , we do look very potent and clean!! Unfortunately though, it lasts around 15-20 minutes, once we know how to play tempo footy, we’ll be hard to beat. I’m stoked at the performance of scrimshaw, Worps, Cousins and Howe on the weekend! Keep it going I reckon, once it clicks ( towards end of the year) it will be awesome to watch these bunch of 20-22 year olds become hardened warriors for us in years to come!

Will take something pretty special to win this one with the current state of our injury list.

Midfield is going to need to be at the top of their game. Forwards need to take their chances. Defenders need to really help each other out - especially with who ever ends up taking Hawkins.

Scrimshaw has only played 8 games but is fast becoming one of my new favs. Yes he will make mistakes, but gee im excited to see what we get from this guy in the years to come. And he is a possionate Hawk.

Golds is the fittest

Pittonet isn’t better than Ceglar and his ruck work around the ground is worse.

Our defence wasn’t a problem until Frawley and Stratton got injured and then the game completely changed.

Scully played his best game on the weekend and will continue to get better. Worpel and Cousins will benefit greatly with O’Meara returning this week.
